Grr, I wish he could just be like a familiar or something
Is anyone else resluctant to use 'Dog' because of the lack of dialogue?

I know he's great in battle, but I like to have as many people chipping into my conversations as possible, it makes situations that get stale very quickly (once you're on your 3rd playthrough) more interesting.

Why is that?
I am unadventurous (Or just ironic, maybe) and call my dog 'Rex'

Dog has his converstations with the party. Morrigan, Sten and Dog have made some funny ones.
Like Morrigan giving in and giving him a treat, and Sten throwing a stick for dog to fetch.

I will try that on my second playthrough, you've interested me.
Dog may not have the best convesation choices, but he makes up for it in other ways. I'm not talking about fighting.

- War Dog need more war paint drop, and more arts just like you would see those cool looking one at Ostagar.
- They also need to have their own plot on random encounter like the rest.
- They need to have a third sense that able to detect enemies / traps to reveal them by barking, or like those cartoon dog with the stiff body pointing that way!
but so far I enjoy my war dog to take out range class, but he gonna get replace soon with Sten or the rogue for pick lock : (

Snarf (dog) has always been in my party so far. I like the Mabari Dominance dynamic, and the fact that he finds odd things every now and again.

If you like the extra dialog then just play with the others. I have Alistar and the old Lady and they seldom said something I was interested in.

I was dissapointed.
They advertised dog as your loyal companion who's smart enough to understand basic language and is a full companion. He turned out to be more of a ranger pet than that.
Honestly, just adding a few growls, whines, and barks into conversations would make him so much better of a character.

the dog Is my favorite. That thing where he jumps on peaple and eats them to death works really good.

Also, what is the point of the gifts? As every time I have played the game the dog has started and stayed at 100?
Even the playthrough where I acted like a dick!

The dog is 100% cause he imprinted on you, He would take no other master. If you take dog in your first trip to the Dalish, he adds to the convo some.

I wouldn't be without Little Mister. I like how he upsets Morrigan, who never establishes *her* dominance, btw, how he fetches, and how quickly he takes down archers and mages.
Sure, I may lose some dialog, but I save a lot on gifts!

Dog should have been a free party member.

Who wouldn't take dog for the dialogue? Sure he's lacking in it but seriously if you're a dog lover you can't say no to him.
(happy bark!)
(Dog jumps around in circles)
(Dog turns his head at you)
(dog relieves himself)
(Dog Happily wags his tail)
I love dog to death! he's so cute and full of personality!
Not to mention a great fighter.

Talk to Dog when you're in Camp.

I took Dog into Warden's Keep with me and the reaction he gives to possessed Sophia Dryden (and her counter reaction to him) really amused me. xD Also for the landmarks around the world, the dog hiking his leg on them is pretty funny.

Dog is epic. I'd never be reluctant to take him. I always "talk" to him in camp, if only to pet him, and some of the PC's reactions to his finding "treasures" are priceless... Oh, and his leg-hiking on random places. xD
