If it were up to me, I would only need one Shepard to check out all the romances, but because some BSN-users demand realism in video games. (I know, the absurdity hurts me, too).
I have to make two Shepards for that. Very inefficient.
I mean armor color isn't restricted to Shepard's sex and the LI subplots are on the same level of importance.
There is no reason to restrict them at all.

Armor colour isn't a character... I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a deep backstory either.

Yes, extremely important for their deep character backstory. Not.

No.

I like in ME3 that characters have defined sexual perferences and aren't just Shepardsexual.

No. She and Kaidan should have remained straight characters like was established in the first game.

Both of them came across as closet-bi's in the first 2 games although. Then we got ME3, Kaidan came out, and I was not shocked our surprised at all. Would of been mored shocked if Elton John turned straight.

Then we got Ash, who got the Miranda make-over. Nothing wrong with Miranda, but it does seem like Ash's new look was based on Mirandas to make up for the fact Miranda would get a shorter role.

No, they needed more male options for femshep not female. Plus it wouldn't fit in with her character unlike Kaidan which was much more expected ( and a lot of people still found it wierd).

Apart from Vega, who would femshep mance that's male? Maybe it's just me but the game seems to have more females then males.

I don't understand. Why do people say it would be "out of character" for her to be bisexual? What do bisexual people seem like? Do we emit special rays? Do we really need to have a history of being with both sexes to know that we're bisexual?

I can't say I get it either, I think its not so much as "her being out of character" and more, against what certain players feel about the subject.

You're using "of" instead of have? Seriously?

Without knowing someone's origins, it is way harsh to pick up on the complexities of the English language.  While such things irk me also, I do not think it is appropriate to mock when their meaning is obvious.

And on topic:

Yes.

Pretty sure this is is. I can see an argument both ways actually.  Some people like having maximum options,  some people like the realism of having some charachters not be bi.

I don't really have a problem with it.   You could make a better argument that Vega should have been....well, something. :D

Wake up! We're so promiscuous to the point of just being shallow things that sex everything 'cause we have the hots for everyone and we don't have personality.

Nope 2 bi females and a lesbian is enough. Straight females are the one in need of a romance instead.

She still could be a covert bisexual. I mean, being conservative or religious doesn't mean one can't have this sexual allignment, but usually, those persons remain heterosexual and go after their "other" preference.

However, it would come out of nowhere. If Ash admits she has something for fem!Shep, it simply would feel like "WTH"? Covert bisexuals simply don't do that outing stuff ...

So in short: no bi!Ashley. It does not break her character but it's also unlikely. It won't get added via DLC. Actually, I'd like to see something different for her ...

150+ years from now, maybe they'd be no need to be covert about being bi/gay/les. Besides iirc, Shep makes the first move on Ash to trigger the ME3 romance.

The VS (both Ashley AND Kaidan) were planned as bi options from the first game but taken out in favor of just Liara (could you imagine Fox News if graphic scenes were done for Man Shep/Kaidan and FemShep/Ash?). So from that alone, I'd probably say yes.

However, FemShep has FAR more f/f options than ManShep had for m/m. There's Liara, Asari Consort, Kelly Chambers, flirtatious dialogue with Shiala and Samara, Traynor...whereas ManShep didn't get those options until ME3, which included a retcon of a character back to an original concept design and a side character. However, FemShep really got trashed in the realm of heterosexual options (one dies, one dumps her, and the other may not have even lived) while ManShep has his share of available ladies in all three games.

Me personally I couldn't see Ash as bi. Not because of her beliefs, but she really seems to have a strong interest in men and none in women (in fact she really doesn't seem to trust other women in general). It's the same way I felt about the likes of Kaidan and Anders being retconned into 'bi' just for the fans (even if Kaidan was originally planned as bi, he should've been from the start and not until the final game of the trilogy where he decides he likes men), and the implementation of Garrus and Tali as romanceable in general.

I think they really had their options out of balance for ME3 in hopes of pleasing everyone. The continued romances from ME2 alone were...okay at best, Traynor and Allers were mostly fanservice (though Traynor at least was fleshed out and a cool character, Allers not so much), and Vega turned out to be a real tease.

My thing is, if a character is planned to be bisexual, make him or her so from the start. If they are straight, don't retcon them to please the fans. If they are gay, don't make them into straight options either. If they aren't romanceable, don't make them suddenly romanceable, especially when it doesn't make sense.

FOX NEWS SOOOOO PISSES ME OFF!!!! and even more so when I saw that story on sexuality in mas effect years ago!   and you just know this had something to do with the horribble underwear debacle present in me 3 {and probably the toned down me 2 as well}   HORRIBLE!  heres hoping for some edgier li dlc

Yes make Ashley bi but ONLY because Bioware made Kaidan bi, they should even it out, otherwise if they had let him stay straight I would suggested letting both staying straight, it's too late in the game to change orientation (even if it is only in male shep world).....
