I think the most compelling counter-argument to this theory is that Patrick Weekes talked at PAX about how Mass Relay would not be rebuilt and that people would use more efficient FTL drives in the future instead. The Mad Hanar wrote...
I thought it was an interesting theory. I only read page 1 though, so I don't know why it's BS.
OP presumed to not give a f*ck.
And that it's simply too stupid to use Normandy for a test run.
*sigh*
That show was ruined for me today...
They took my favorite character out of the fight...
Pointlessly...
At first, I too thought that Lin was given the Idiotball at the end. Now that I think about it it was actually really good. After all, she did save the only Airbenders in the world from falling into Amon's hands.
The bit at the end where Amon takes away her bending was extremely powerful. It showed Lin's resolve and defiance and Amon's ruthlessness. This time it wasn't some scumbag criminal or Tahno or friggin' Tarrlok. The way the whole thing was so reminiscent of an execution was also frightening.
So I don't think it was pointless at all. Possibly the best episode of Korra yet.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. The episode was awesome. It's just sad that my favorite character in the show probably won't have a relevant role after this episode.

Well, I don't know about that. The whole show has been about how non-benders can get stuff done too and she is a competent detective and what not, so I don't think they will throw her in the garbage.
Still, I think it was neccesary to really show that Amon is in fact a villain. Up until this point he has seemed almost like a good guy especially since he took out Tarrlok who had definitely crossed the moral event horizon in my eyes.
Hell, his debut was him ridding the city of it's most dangerous criminal.
Now he actually seems like someone who needs to be stopped.

Yeah, it definately DID make me hate him. I will say though, I really like these writers. They were great in AtLA, but they've seemed to have gotten that much better in this series. Nothing this bad happened to the main characters in AtLA. Plus, the "dear" guy was hilarious, as was the shout out they made to the Cabbage guy in earlier episodes.
