This definitely looks like a next gen console title.

But it's confirmed on the PS3. Unless it comes out in that weird little space were games are released for one generation of consoles and the next simultaneously. Like Hitman: Bloodmoney was available for Xbox and Xbox 360 at the same time.

Great first post, OP.

I think we have seen our first next gen project for the new consoles.

The concept of the game is terrific, and its original. They have a whole trailer dedicated to the game's concept...that in itself was interesting and critical.

Very interested, and I'll be watching this game closely. Ubisoft won the show yesterday, easily.

I, like others, began throwing $20's at the screen, but it wouldn't accept them :(

Do a little research people, it's not a next gen title.

Watch Dogs is an Xbox 360/PS3/PC title, Ubisoft confirms

Anyway don't expect it to look as good on the 360 and PS3.

Must've missed the part where he opens a car door to get a guy out of the cross fire.
Doesn't make up for him causing all of it but it seems like this is the players choice.  If you want to be so compassionate about pixels I'll be genuinely surprised you like any games.

There are plenty of games that don't necessarily involve your character hurting anyone/thing who hasn't directly attacked them first. Just because the GTA games allow for wanton mayhem...

Though I will say, the fact that the game shows the consequences of such actions, at least if the distraught guy in the car is any indication, is to its credit. Shows the devs will try to take this anti-hero portrayal seriously, instead of "lol I just ran over a ho." Maybe.

You need to read more. People are collateral damage of things all the time. Not to mention, it's a video game. If you want to play a game where "innocents" aren't harmed then you really can't touch anything above an E rating, and this is a definite M.

Don't be dense, I know what collateral damage is. Doesn't mean I want to cause it. Surprisingly enough, it's possible to go through life without killing anyone, much less innocent people. (unless we want to count all the killing done somewhat in my name thanks to my government, corporations, etc)

The notion that a game can't be "mature" unless it involves engaging in such actions is also ridiculous.

Lot of potential for an excellent atmosphere and great game... what's going to make it or break it? The audio.... how repetitious it gets.

This is what I was thinking.

It looks awesome, but it also looks like it has that potential to get repetitive. I guess it just depends on how many different "hacking" activities you can do.

Take a look at what we know about the story and the character. It's an opressive 1984 style government and this person is a "terrorist" working against that entire network of eyes and ears that controls everyone. Now think of any revolutionary figure in any period of time that tried to remove a government. Not reform it like Martin Luther King or Ghandi, but remove it like Guevara, Tepes, Wallace wanted to. They had to kill because they were waging war against their governing bodies. That's what this game is clearly about, and you can't be a rebelious agent of an underground movement and be nice expecting change.

Understanding that is merely an application of common sense.

No, but an M rating means that it houses mature content. Death and murder is a mature concept.

I guess, if you want to be simple about it. Actually no, even that description seems inaccurate.

I'm pretty sure the British weren't incredibly nice rulers over their Indian subjects back in Gandhi's day. I don't deny that there are scenarios where reform comes only with violence, though I'm not convinced that this is something to venerate if it's the kind of violence that casually disregards collateral damage instead of only inflicting such damage when absolutely 'necessary.'

Mature content is fine. Like I said, not just showing the mayhem, but the consequences of it, are to the game's credit.

The british were ruthless, but that's not the point. Ghandi wanted reform not removal. This guy wants removal of the system. The people who get hurt are less important that what he's trying to accomplish. It's the only way to remove it.

Mayhem is a mature concept. It's not cartoony like a Hulk or prototype game, but it's more like him trying to accomplish something and things merely get in the way. Given the setting and the themes of the story mature content like in Heavy Rain or Catherine would be disjointed and sour the quality of this title.

A series?

Excuse me, I need to find some lotion.

I need to get my hands all wet and slippery so I can...crap, that's counterproductive towards gripping a controller.

Nevermind.
