Ok soldier about twenty one points to develop into ammo do you:

  • Spend it all maxing one ammo, probably incendiary?
  • Bring two ammos up to level four with one over.
  • Bring all three ammos up to level three with three points over.
  • Add warp or armour piercing (which?) and bring them all up to level three borrowing three points.
  • Forget ammo, just leave the one point in incendiary and concentrate on something else.
What next?

I am really tempted to add armour piercing and develop all four simultaneously. Switching depending whether you up against normal troops, shields, armour, barrier or in danger of being overrun. And what combos your team mates favour -Liara+Warp. Although loosing energy drain is a pain.

Assume level 1 start insanity.

Bring disruptor and cryo up to level 4 squad effect, then max out inferno with explosive.  Disruptor and cryo are great cc for squaddies to use.  I wouldn't add AP ammo, I've done it and it does work well but with pirecing mods its not really needed.

Generally you can just leave single ammos on all game as protections are uncommon in ME3.  Hope this helps!

With the explosive evolution on incendiary, make sure to use a fast firing weapon like the particle rifle to set off fireworks every second or so.

Just go for Incendiary and don't put points into the others until it is maxed. That would be the most efficient thing to do as it is good with rapid fire weapons, and those in turn are good with Adrenaline Rush.

If you want to focus on the others they are fine, but the way to best use them won't be nearly as straightforward.

I have just done a little table for myself, and am really surprised with how good warp ammo appears. Does more damage to health, armour and barriers then incendiary and disruptor plus lifting damage, you loose panic and stun though, plus limited combo initiation.

Currently thinking of using warp ammo as bonus power. Developing warp and disruptor ammo to level 4 and putting a point in cryo ammo (for husk attacks). Mainly using warp ammo, switching to disruptor ammo against shielded enemies – no energy drain bonus power so weakness here.

Level 4 seems to be a stopping point, where you start to loose point efficiency for further development. So 'pause' here until other powers have 'caught up'.

Definitely Cryo to at least 4. And use it with the Talon. Together they are proven effective on Insanity.

Otherwise, Incendiary maxed.

I would only make one ammo power a squad power. I recommend Cryo Ammo for the squad since it has limited utility otherwise.

Disruptor is probably more versatile on a Soldier than Incendiary. Disruptor Ammo + Concussive Shot is very good at setting off tech bursts. Incendiary Ammo is good against Cerberus for its panic effect, but Disruptor Ammo will stun all enemy types.

To answer the original poster's question, I would put Cryo at 4 for Squad bonus before putting points into another ammo power. I recommend Disruptor Ammo.

Ah good point about Tech bursts.  I dunno, I've never really liked Concussive shot.  Its usually the very last thing I put points in.  Not that it isn't good, I just prefer to abuse AR and shoot.  And while yes Disruptor can stun enemies, I've always found Burst Incendiary to just kill so fast the stun was just not needed.  Even against Geth Incendiary worked very well.  Honestly I missed ME2's ammo and protection mechanics.  Well the new armor function is cool, but I wish the rest of it worked like ME2 did.

^This^

My Soldier with maxed inferno ammo and the Particle Rifle got me through my Insanity run. Energy Drain was my bonus power.

What I do is max out incendiary with the explosive evo, and then funnel whatever is left over to cryo. Cryo is quite effective with a shot gun or sniper rifle(incendiary with assault rifle)

I have my soldier be, basicly a Mobile ammo power dispenser, just use em for everything i dont bother with squadmate powers cuz i usualy train whatever i feel lacking. and it lets me load more points into my team mates offensive/defensive ability.. squad is the way to go!

Given your restraints, I'd max out Incendiary and bring along a tech specialist to overload anything with shields.

But if it were me... I'd go to the med bay and start over by maxing out all three ammo powers as well as Adrenaline Rush. (If I don't have enough points for those I'd drop on Cryo Ammo for now.)
