Good
Rannoch - Do I have to explain? It had 3 games of build up and a satisfying payoff *no matter the end*
Tuchanka - Ditto.
Grissom - I cared about 1) Jack and her students. 2) David Archer 3) Beating Cerberus *a rarity in the game*
Thessia - Not gonna lie, this would be tops if Kai Leng *more on him later* were not involved.
Monastery - Only quest where the word 'sacrifice' actually came to my mind. Only time you really see a family torn apart.
Mars - The real intro to the story since Earth part 1 was a tutuorial.
BAD ones
Sanctuary - Kai Lang involved. Redux of Miranda and her sister from part 2. Me asking 'Why is Miranda making all these videos and talking to herself at these terminals' about 20 times. Sound idea, but didn't work.
Cronos - More Kai Lang. The options of Jack and Legion being indoctrinated seemed cheap, rushed and... well cheap.
Earth - Mindless shooting.
Haley Joel Osment No comment.
I think a GOOD villian would have helped a lot in the bottom 4. Axe Kyle Ling from the start I say. YOUR BIG BADDY FROM CERBERUS SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ME2 SQUAD MATE, captured by Cerberus for the 6 months you're incarcerated and turned into a monster/slave. If you really wanted to ratchet down the hatred for the whole thing, make it your ME2 LI. You'd be pissed at Cerberus for sure.

1. Tuchanka- The build up and execution of this mission were awe-inspiring. The music when Eve enters and calms down Reave and the other Krogans was just incredible.
2. Rannoch- Again, the build up was great. I love Tali and Legion - two of my favorite characters. And dat end with Legion and Tali, damn that was intense. It's not number one becuase I can't decide if Tuchanka or Rannoch was better. lol
3. Thessia - Good writing. If you brough Javik along it was very interesting. Kia Leng fight was intense, and Shepard actually losing brought the entire game into perspective.
4. Grissom Academy - As much as a I don't like Jack aka Jennifer, it was nice to see she hadn't changed and it was a an all around great time. Although very challenging in that big Atrium room.
5. Earth the final assault - It was great, but the lack of war assests that I gathered being evident was disheartening.

Best
1) tuchunka - just awsome if the whole game had been thios level i would not be complaining
2) mars - excellant interactions with vs, Liara and Tim
3) grissom good mission very atmospheric the cerberus propaganda should have been used more across the game, overlord guy was cool and Jack
4) rachni mission(if u saved them) bit mixed on this if it fitted it was realy cool if not it was so lame
worst
1) priority earth(end mission) what a dissapointment this isnt just the worst end mission of the series its the worst missions in the series
2) earth intro - realy bad. Weird unfitting dialogue, shepard says realy stupid things no hint of what was going on with the council who bizarly just all get killed off. And vent boys forced tradgedy
3) rachni mission - as said earliar if u didnt save them this mission just shouldnt have been in the game
4) dreams- i know they arent missions but theyre gameplay so i count them. Realy bad tedious and whats worst is they should have been realy good if the dreams had varied depening on your in series decisions

1.Tuchanka (great end to genophage arc + Mordins death and the battle of the reaper vs Kalros is awesome)
2.Rannoch (Nice set of varied environments that leads to a tough decision, unless you have played your cards right)
3.Chronos Station (Its good to take the fight to the Cerberus HQ at last. Last blow to them.)
4.Grissom Academy (Nice to see familiar place from the novels and characters, intresting battles also)
Honorable mentions
5. London, before the beam (One of the toughest waves, plus its nice to slaughter reaper troops on familiar ground. Also you get to say goodbyes to your comrades)
6. Thessia With Javik, intresting lore revelations. Otherwise feels too short.
Worst missions:
Earth - Weak start
Palavens moon .... feels like a wasted opportunity, only thing good is that you get Garrus. Also, Why not Palaven itself, why some boring moon?
Sur'kesh .... I guess I got tired of it for seeing it too many times, thats the problem with previews and demos.
Jacobs mission... Go here push buttons, shoot cerberus, blaa blaa blaa....oh yeah you cheated on me you Bastard! Why??
London - after the beam. Do I need to comment?
Eden Prime, aside from getting Javik this mission is ****** poor... its takes half an hour and if Javiks character wouldnt be so good id say From Ashes was a shameless moneygrap for 800 points. Actually I still think it is, even Javik aint worth 10 euros, he should have been part of the main game, which he was until you went and changed it for some quick bucks. For shame!
and at the bottom of the barrel are:
All the fetch quests and N7 "missions".... You never seem to learn, do you?

Thessia - Pretty intense. As sad as it was to see the planet fall and to see Shepard completely distraught over it, it was excellent writing.
Tuchanka - Probably the most powerful mission in the game IMO. Being able to finally end the genophage, and the bittersweet death of Mordin. Excuse me for a second... *tears*
Grissom Academy - One word: Jack.
Rannoch - Again, another one of the more powerful missions. My first playthrough (without an import), I had to watch Tali commit suicide with that music playing and I absolutely lost it. My perfect playthrough though, I got to save both the geth and quarian, and it was just amazing.

I'm seeing a pattern here. I do agree the Earthbattle was a fun challenge, but the mood was just off. They should have broken the rules for a minute and given you a full squad. *not 3* I mean that should be an ALL IN moment.

1. The Geth Dreadnought mission, because it was intense, and felt fresh for ME.
2. Cerberus Base, because those two last rooms are great. The hallway that leads up to the Illusive Man's room was just a great buildup, and very classic video-gameish. Finally being in the room with the view to the glowing sun was amazing
3. The Citadel II. This mission really gave you the feeling of suspense and rush, which was fitting.
4. Grissom Academy. The reunion with Jack was surprising and heartwarming, and we got to ride an atlas mech

Best Missions
1) Asari Ardat Yatshi Colony, I liked the characters and the level as well as multiple ways it can end.
2) Rannoch Reaper Base, I liked the characters and the level as well as multiple ways it can end.
3) Thessia, Mainly because of what it means for Liara and the aftermath, Kai leng and the level design itself was a bit poor.
4)Sanctuary, Miranda
Worst Missions
1)Earth
2) Retake Earth
3)Ex- Cerberus Scientists.

1. Sur' Kesh was a good mission. It was good to see Mordin and Major Kirrahe again. Then we did see what the Salarians do with species. They capture samples and study them. They treat intelligent species like lab animals: like the Yahg.
2. Rannoch: This depending upon one's character development, this one could end different ways. You felt like your choice mattered. It was probably one of the most satisfying missions in the game. You could give Tali her homeworld if you chose. You could make peace, even though that peace might only be temporary.
3. Tuchanka: Another well written story arc. Depending who was in charge of the Krogan might depend whether you had Mordin cure the genophage or not.
4. If I have to pick a fourth, I'll pick priority Mars... only because it was the return of Liara. Unfortunately it was still part of the "tutorial" section of the game where they were teaching you how to operate the controls rather than concentrating on the plot. I found that very intrusive.
______________________________________________________
The Palaven story arc could have been a lot better.
Thessia had the misfortune of following Rannoch. Still given how well asari do in MP against reapers (Silver > insane) they should have put up a lot better fight than they did. And then there was the Kai Leng fight which was a total loser. The mission was meant to be totally manipulative to the player for the simple matter that despite the "no canon in ME" Liara is the canon LI.
The main enemy was Cerberus. It was pretty obvious. The reapers were an annoyance. TIM was the antagonist. His job was to obstruct the protagonist.
Don't even get me started on Take Back Earth. You know this mission:

1. Sur'Kesh - it has some of the best "new" music, and the pacing is good with near pure action after the exposition and character interaction at the beginning.
2. Sanctuary - it harkens back to the old Mass Effect style of going to some place and trying to figure out what is happening there, rather than simply going some place to blow stuff up.
3. Grissom Academy - This is another good one which is made better if Jack is alive, and even moreso if she was your LI in ME2. Even without her it is fairly solid. Atrium fight is actually pretty unique, and the final sequence when you get to pilot the Atlas to a good soundtrack earns it a spot on my list.
4. Tuchanka - You get to learn a bit more about Tuchanka history. Wrex vs Wreav make an interesting difference, even if the mission itself is basically the same. The hammer sequence is kind of fun, especially if you want to try and kill all the Brutes instead of simply dodging them to hit the hammers. The Shroud scene is also fairly well done, especially if Wrex is alive...
Just missed:
Rannoch - It is a fairly straightforward mission that has a good soundtrack. Legion with mission updates is nice as well. It does lose some points for battle against the Reaper on foot.
Thessia - combat is alright, even if the Temple approach is annoying. The scene investigating the Temple is pretty fun, especially if you have Javik.

My least-favorite missions:
Any mission where you are dropped into combat immediately. This is especially annoying if you have to stop and apply ammo powers, or you respecced before the mission and you need to re-assign points or re-map powers. This goes double for the Earth: Hades Cannon mission, where you can get killed before even stepping out of the Kodiak, plus all the ground shake which can really mess with both sniper rifles and shotguns.
My personal favorites:
1) Earth: London (minus the drop-into-combat immediately part), especially defending the missile battery capped by some great music. Even making a last, desperate charge towards the beam was awesome.
2) Ardat-Yakshi Monastery had some great atmosphere, and the first time you hear the Banshee screams is chilling.

there's so few in this game that 4 is about 50% of the thing..
1. Tuchanka--the perfect mission. My favorite in the series and a great combination of action and narrative. Dombrow's resume is complete in this business.
2. Eden Prime--creepy, creepy, creepy, but narrative wobbly.
3. Geth server base--Rannoch arc was good, but I didn't actually like half the missions. This was the one I liked playing the most.
4. London--if you're in a killing mood, it's a lot of fun. Story utterly abandoned at this point, but definitely the shooting highlight of the game.
Thessia should have been 3 for me, but the Kai Leng debacle ruined the entire thing for me. It's actualy my least favorite mission solely because of that temple sequence. WHich is a tragedy.

1. Grissom Academy - I got to see Jack again and it was the only part in the game I felt my Shepard connected with her again, given the limited role she recieved.
2. The Citadel - even though it was a bunch of crap witnessing Kai leng cut down Thane with his little butter knife, I did enjoy this mission. From the awesome cutscenes to the storytelling it was all good.
3. Mars - It was a pretty fun mission. I loved the small chase, I loved the reunion with Liara even though I'm not a fan of hers, and I loved watching the VS get their ass kicked by Dr. Eva core.
Worst
1.Every mission dealing with Rannoch - They were all boring, and tedious. If it wasn't for Legion and his small quest dealing with the geth consensus I would of lost interest even faster than I did. Plus compared to Tuchunka, Rannach seemed a bit dull.
2.Retake Earth - Not much need to be said here, it just felt like a poorly executed horde mode.

1. Rannoch -- The music, feel, visuals, good-paced combat, Reaper fight, making peace between the Geth and Quarians and Legion's sacrifice (this one always brings manly tears to my eyes). My favorite mission in the entire series, this one really (imo) laid the groundwork that Bioware's future endeavors should strive for.
2. Tuchanka -- Similar reasons as Rannoch. The mad dash towards the Reaper, Kalros fighting it, Mordin's sacrifice, and the whole conclusion sequence were outstanding.
3. Earth -- Up until you land on the Citadel. Dark, gritty, brutal, and intense, it reminded me of darker war movies. Squadmate goodbyes. Only real gripes are that I wish you could have seen more of your assets specifically in action, and there could have been a little more open combat.
4. Surkesh/Cronos Station -- Can't really decide between the two. Surkesh for the intensity, music, mission situation, etc. Cronos for the revelations that come in it, the combat, killing Kai Leng, and all.

Tuchanka, including the Sur'kesh "prologue": aside from Kalros taking down a ****ing reaper, everything was incredibly well done and most importantly well written. Mordin's death was very emotional, too. Look at that, a sacrifice that actually meant something. Take note Mac Walters.
Rannoch: helping the geth and the quarian's reconcile was great, but then I'm forced to sacrifice the former because the other 2 endings don't make any sense whatsoever.
Honestly the other mission were pretty subpar, both earth missions were disappontingly linearm reminding me of gritty shooters more than anything else, mars and the rachni mission were just ok.
edit: oh and Thessia showcased some great Asari architecture, but again it wasn't what I expected, I had hoped for a full-fledged hub world.

It's best to check the existing threads for this, because for those of us that hate him, we really, really hate him.
Not in the intended way, either. I've seen some crappy villains in my time gaming, but Kai Leng's Hall of Shame material.

If you haven't read these books, comic books *I have no clue what those are* then Kyle Ling is literally 'Nobody, pulled from nowhere'. There is zero connection between us as an audience and this ninjabot so he's a hollow villian.
