I loved it too. Still, since I always tend to conserve ammo I used the industrial-saw-thing more often, the contact beam was also useful against bosses. The flamethrower and force gun were probably the worst weapons.

What.

IGN Live: Dead Space 3 Interview

If anyone is interested, not that I like IGN, nor am I excited for this because I don't like the direction, but for anyone who is!

"Co-op is just like a secret special bonus for those who want to be able to play with their friends"

lol.

lol. I just hope they will expand the story and tell more about the origin of the markers and more about unitology. Btw, is it just or me, or did Greg say that the other co-op character (John Carver) is just a figment of Isaac's imagination?

^I doubt that he's fragment of Isaac's imagination.

After watching the E3 trailer, I'm disappointed. Looks generic and the atmosphere seems gone.

Good thing Lost Planet 3 gained the atmosphere.

And I was hoping that Dead Space 3 will bring back the atmosphere from the original game.
Sure, it wasn't scary, what can scare you after all, when you hold a Ripper or that mining laser, but the level design was awesome. the chapters "Into The Void" and "Dead On Arrival" were my favorites (the first one included walking on a mined asteroid, and the second one had Twitchers)

Second game was still cool, and I actually liked that Isaac was no longer mute and the cutscenes/quick time events, but the atmosphere was half gone.

I saw the whole presentation stream and wow. If they didn't tell me it was Dead Space I would've thought it was Gears of War... I'm serious.

I viewed Dead Space 2 as being like the Aliens to Dead Space's Alien. Still has a certain atmosphere to it, but definitely having more action than a straight horror film. Considering both are extremely well regarded films, this is not a bad thing.

Hopefully DS3 is more Aliens than Alien 3. Because that would suck.

If llie dies in this game that would be kind of a cliche. We already went throught that in the first dead space.

Looks like Dead Space is taking the same route as Resident Evil. Horror games are slowly disappearing it seems.

Never thought Dead Space was scary to begin with. I liked the first one, loved the second one and I am pretty excited about the new one.

Ellie doesn't look that different, imo and she certainly doesn't look like a sex doll. Also lol at her eye being “back” futuristic technology. I worked with a woman for three years before knowing she had a fake eye and most likely would never have known if she didn't tell me. Ocular Prosthetics are commonplace and can be extremely realistic and because they fit so tightly in the conjunctival space, it moves just as a regular eye would move.

Here's some more pics. Like I said before, looks like a fusion of Lost Planet and The Thing.

Because Resident Evil was so scary to begin with...

Have to agree with Some Geth. I played the first two and while 1 had less enemies, more dark and blind spots, 2 was a shooter with some moments of creepiness. I remember the first time you come across some toddler necromorphs, there are several dozen you have to stop, you move about five feet then several dozen more. The rest of the game ran in pretty much the same way.

2 had some frustrating moments though.....like that one part where you're back on the Ishimura and you had to make your way through the tram tunnel that had not one, but TWO freakin' Brutes to deal with.....never again lol.

I really liked the first two games. Especially liked how you could make them even more survival-horror in hardcore mode. That being said, I expected this direction in DS3. It was obvious they were moving more this way in DS2 even though it had spectacular horror atmosphere like the first game. Not sure what to think of this personally...

I'll wait to see more. I'm hoping they somehow at least kept that creepy atmosphere of moving in the shadows...which it doesn't look like so far.

I mean, yeah I like me an action game that has high creepiness to it. But I just don't see how people think Dead Space 3 is any different than 1 or 2, save for the co-op.:?

Now this looks like it could be a good horror game.

Every time the guy says "co-op" it sounds and seems (with the extra emphasis and articulation) like a dirty word.

That looks intriguing.  I'm interested, I'll be keeping my eye on this one.  Have you seen any other footage?

yea i have my little nitpicks of how it looks more lost plaent but darnit im still gona buy and play it

apparently the ice planet isnt the only place to visit either cause a gamestop backstage demo stated it go's to a ship above the planet that has zero g and will have the feel of dead space 1 and 2

The Day 2 E3 presentation on G4 for this game made me cringe. The guy showing it off pretty much side-stepped questions that had to do with the obvious change in direction from the previous games.

It looks terrible. I heard so much good stuff about Dead Space...even considered trying it out. Not going to now.

That's too bad, for you.  It's your loss.  Dead Space 1 and 2 is 1 of my fave new IPs from this generation.  Just because the 1st trailer for the newest one doesn't meet some people's unreal expectations.  Don't be so quick to judge it and write it off as such.

I will watch with bated breath to see if this gets better.  They could still be holding back on showing a lot of stuff that looks amazing and/or hasn't been developed yet.

Na, ill be good. I have little doubt the first game was probably great. But then EA caught scent. I have little interest in Gears of Dead Space, as it undeniably is. See, this is what happened with Mass Effect, and all preliminary evidence indicates this is what has happened here. I'm glad you enjoy it, however.
