I play the game because I enjoy the game.
If you can't play well in gold, it would be safe to say you do not enjoy playing that difficulty. Play a lesser difficulty so you can enjoy the game better.
If you make a game specificly to take advantage of an over easy stratagy just to earn more virtual money to buy more virtual items so you can make your stratagy even easier, it creates a vicious cycle.
You basicly start to work for the game instead of use it for enjoyment.
Now if this is how you choose to play that's fine. The only way it'll affect me is if I land in a farming lobby, at which I always have the option to leave at any point.
However saying that the 'everyman' is a farmer and should farm is something I took offence to.
Ah, that I'll grant, but you missed a step in the transformation from "I just got this game and MP is kind of fun," to "I'm good at this game and it's still fun." I found Silver to be the perfect difficulty as long as I have 1 or 2 teammates that's not up to par, if everyone is capable of doing Silver then I can easily dominate it and we'll have the game over in no time flat, but when I stepped up to Gold I got creamed. My adept went from heavy weight to dead weight, my Infiltrator went from sniper to runner, and we'll not even talk about my poor Vanguard.
So I put some training wheels on, farmed some FBWGG, got comfortable with the amount of enemies coming at me. Then I found a good team on Silver (we did silver dagger in <20minutes) and we went to Gold, and it took a bit longer but wasn't much harder than the Silver run because I knew what to expect. Now I'm joining U/U/G and starting to get to the point where I don't have to check my team out more than a cursery over view to make sure no one is doing something dumb (like n7 24 with a level 6 in gold, or Asari Vanguard with Claymore2 and Widow5), and I still have pretty good success rates.
I don't believe that all farmers are just there to farm, many of us are there learning how to handle the amount of enemies in gold, or get enough credits to actually get the new toy we want (I wanted the Carnifex forever it seems like, and could not get it. I got my AA real quick, but I know people that have been here for 2-3 months and still cannot get her to unlock for them)
