I'm talking about the ones getting 100k scores while everyone else is around 40k. I hate playing with these players because you feel like you're just getting in the way when you try to help them.

Not to sound rude but that can be true to some degree.

I can only speak from the perspective of an Infiltrator since that's my favorite class.  It's better for everyone if the non-infiltrators don't hang around us.  Less of a chance for me to "steal" your kill (if that kind of thing bothers you), and you're less likely to foul up my shot.

Biotic users who fire powers right next to an Infiltrator, or put up a biotic dome and geth turrets right nex to my head firing away really foul up aiming my shots.  Turrets spec'd for shield restore also kill off the Cloak effect but i'm pretty sure the effect is still in play (weapons are still Cloaked).  It is jarring/worrysome though until I realize what happened.

Vanguards charging into my targets is a pain to but they're less likely to see where I'm aiming since they're up front and I'm at the back.  Charging into Guardians that I'm facing though is a bit silly.

It's not like you should feel miserable or bad about any of this though.  Stuff happens.

If there is more than a 20k gap between me and second place, then I change my game play from killer to support.

Do what you can to help the team, completing objectives and reviving teammates, especially that one really good player (assuming they go down at all, lol). That way, even if your score can't compare, you can be sure you were valuable to the team.

What do I mean by "solo the game"? When soloing one will move when the enemy is starting to get too close. Most often as an inf it means cloak, switch side of the map.

Now doing that with a team means one is giving up the flank he was defending by doing so. And the next team mate in line gets backstabbed.

I dislike people that try to play the game this style. Most often they are infs.

I've done that before, but I only run far enough to put a bit of distance there and turn around immediately and start firing.  I'm still watching the flank.  Usually it's with the stonger enemies where it pays to regroup so after one of you finishes off your target you can assist the other.  Or take turns going back and forth.

Not quite the back-to-back buddy deal you see in movies but feels about the same level of badass.

If there is more than a 20k gap between me and 2nd place... I quit. If at least one other player can't score 40k, I'm out.

Sometimes, I play with someone who is ridiculously good with the Revenant. I'm not ashamed to say that she can consistently outscore me by 100k.

Thus my nickname for her: Revenant Lady.

so "this is just a tribute"?

I would feel a little guilty going into a silver match with my best lvl20 and outscoring everyone massively, because I might be reducing other people's enjoyment.

Guilt free if we're on gold though, iz srs bisnis.

If someone is way ahead of me, then my cap is doffed. No hard feelings at all.

Pretty much this, majority of the time when I'm playing pugs I'll go as GI with claymore. Vast majority of the time I'll sit solidly in first place, however, on occasion, there will be another person who tops me. My only reaction is good job and how can I do better, because I can always improve. Also, this is important to note, if there is only one infiltrator on the team it is likely said infiltrator is going to wreck.

As for classes which tend to conflict with one another (biotics vs. tech characters and conflicting combos), this can easily be rectified by switching class while in the lobby for better team synergy. If I see 1 or 2 biotics in lobby, I'm switching to a biotic.

It's a team effort, why stress over someone getting more points than you if you are actively contributing to the completeion of the mission. I rarely encounter players who will sit and wait to fire at an enemy until it's almost dead, and these players generally don't do that well. So to say these people, who are scoring over 100k, are "kill-stealing" is a bit absurd.

For OP's pleasure:

Not surprised to see a golden and a silver revive medal, meaning more than two casualties per wave. That was an inf soloing the game. Every other team mate just serves as a decoy.

Another ridiculous comment. Revive means they who got the medals stopped killing to revive their team. And the others may have revived as well, I'm sure, just not enough for a medal. Plus, their score is not that bad. If the Infiltrator was solo'ing, he would hardly revive anyone. Gold is about team play and a good Infiltrator is a team player regardless of his score.

My team go lengths to revive me sometimes, even if I have a huge score lead over them, or perhaps precisely because of it. But also because I go lengths to revive them as well.

I don't mind someone performing well. As long as they are enjoying themselves, and I'm enjoying myself, then there's no problem.

I play to have fun, not play to sit/camp in 1 boring corner the whole time.

I don't play a melee build or vanguards btw.

The best thing to do in that situation is follow as best you can to help back them up.  They're obviously going to be your team's wrecking machine for this match, so just follow, take out any he/she misses on their mission of destruction, and be there to revive them if they go down.

It's a squad.  Teamwork.  If your work for this round is reviving and supporting, what's the problem?

I don't think I ever heard Robin **** at Batman about taking out most of  the bad guys himself and not leaving many or Robin...

Sometimes the ones who rack up 100k plus don't bother with rezzing or do objectives because they're too busy with their killing spree. The good players are the ones who help with objectives, support the team and and top of that, come out with 120+k scores.

Scores alone does not make them a good player as we all know the scoring system is naff anyway. Have to keep in mind that the players who score 100+k are often indebted to a team member who sets them up with botic priming or nearly killing every boss.

The good players are the ones who are unsung and does all the backing job and manages to stay alive, rezzing everyone and still come out with top or 2nd score.

More often than not, when one or two players are kill-whoring the other players' scores tend to suffer because they find themselves in the unenviable position of picking up the team support slack, which costs them score in the long run. If you're disarming or retrieving an objective, you're not gaining points, and if you're reviving you're gaining less points than if you had been killing.

I had a game earlier today in which half the players on the team were shamelessly kill-whoring, I ended up being the one doing every objective -- two retrieves and a disarm -- and doing all the reviving, and I ended up #4 on score because of it despite having gotten eight different personal medals (kills, assists, revives, shotgun kills, tech kills, biotic kills, melee kills and a grab kill) while the #1 scorer had two (kills and sniper rifle kills) and #2 had three (kills, AR kills and tech kills).

I score high. I'm always on objectives in those rounds. My score doesn't really suffer. Infact, the people who spend the whole time outside the hack circle killing things usually end up with worse score. So yeah.

This. At least on Gold matches, I've never seen anyone with a high score, myself included, who wouldn't go immediately to revive a fallen team mate, who wouldn't go to help with the objectives and who could care less about who gets the killing blow. We play as a team.

Sometimes I prepare my headshot with a sabotage and another player takes it, sometimes they do the same for me, It doesn't matter. We're damn happy when we get to Wave 11 with Full Extraction. That's our goal, not to outscore one another. I don't judge when I score well over 100k and some 2 players score around 60k-70k. That's a very nice score to add to the total. Only that, when someone score 20k or less in a Gold Match, he wasn't doing anything for the team at all. All he wanted is the easy credits and/or xp and let the others spend 5 medigel/missiles per game.

I only disagree about the Hacking missions. Sometimes it's much better to have a sniper from a far or in a safe spot supporting the rest of the team in the circle. One example. FBW LZ hacking vs Reaper on W10 Gold is insane. 4 players inside is usually a defeat. When I position myself outside the circle and sabotage, missile, kill, prevent an execution, run to revive and back, I never did it thinking  "I'm going to stay out to score more points". Only a lousy player would think that others think that. What I think is: "Let me try and help the team to stay alive and complete the mission". Not once anyone complained about it.

Score 100k almost every game I jump into RRGs, occasionally topping out at about 170k. I do objectives as quick as I can, rez teammates when I can / support people rezzing if I see them being flanked. People who dont score highly on my team dont bother me if they're trying, contributing to the objs how they can and such. Only when they're using, stupid builds (I've seen AAs trying to run BW I and claymore I's before) or refusing to use consumables when things go bad do I feel they get in my way. Team is a team, your score means you helped.

Only play silver and have to admit that i`m usually outscoring most people...

But after some thinking why, as i mainly play the Geth Engineer and chain overload spam it explains quite abit
Enemy stun: duck shooting when they drop to the floor or say an hail mary not to get shot with nearly an instant kill
Turret: all my points went into power damage where possible, it racks me points shooting across the map and bbq`ing anything nearby
Geth shotgun: multiple pellets tonegate that shield bleed crap, weapon/geth weapon bonus

I stick with the team and try to help where possible
Revive who goes down nearby, kill mobs if they surround your corps to revive and drop a turret so you get some shields back
Group hugging, turret for partial shield recharge and shoot the crap out of everything together

I did notice 1 thing with different game play, Geth engineer with no hunter mode can take a punch, add to that the new fortification thingy for 6% more shields and where most people duck for cover, i just go in guns blazing spamming overload and drop a turret a meter or 2 infront of me for extra fire supression and shield recharge

Offensive team play usually wins anyway score wise, if your equipt with a sniper rifle, you`ll have a really hard time to keep up with some one running around mopping the floor at point blank cause they do more damage

The Krogan argument, it`s pointless, if you need to kill 3 enemies that take a couple of swings, i`ll pump them full of digital lead, because to do that in half of the spawn is a bad idea and don`t fancy a suicide revive (neither do 99% of the teams i`ve played with)

Personal view of the useless scoreboard, if i`m not 10-20K behind 1st place or atleast 10-20K ahead of 2nd place, it feels like i haven`t put enough effort into the team
If others see it as "kill stealing" or "sabotaging" their game play, to bad, if standing behind them or hiding in cover firing a few shots here and there they will whine that your not a good team player and need to kill more
Then you kill more and they complain you kill to much... go figure, it`s never good

As said befor a dozen times in this thread, be glad that some one is either 2 times your score or less, it means you died less cause they carried a bigger weapon so you got easier kills instead of getting overrun
If it bothers you so much, change to a different class and wield a shotgun and chain overload aswell :)

Played a round with a fellow Geth engineer, tho i suspect he had hunter mode cause he kept ducking, but i actually felt sorry for the other 2 guys as we finished silver in 17:26 and were both like 40k ahead of the others (tbh, it was a brilliant round)

I guess people just get jealous looking at their scores of 15,000 on wave 11....
