I'm replaying legacy after five months or so and I must say... I love this DLC. By far, the best DLC for the Dragon Age franchise. And I'm one of those players who got extremely disappointed with DA2, but I find this extra quest truly amazing, a glimpse of what DA2 should have been (at least in terms of gameplay: the horrendous art style and werid animations are still there).
Anyway, this is the first time I tried to fight Malvernis (in spanish, translators gave him the weird name "Namrevlis", by the way), and after kicking my ass four times, I was able to defeat it...or him, or whatever. I think this was one of the most satisfiying battles of the series, along with the reaper-flesh golem from amgarrak and the ambush with Ser Cauthrien. A great detail, Bioware, and completely unexpected -I missed the guy the first time I played; always assumed those codex entries were refering to Corypheus.
It's a pity that Bioware didn't add any more lore to the boss, and its history (as many other terrifyng side-secret enemies). I would venture that Mavernis case has something to do with Flemeth. Maybe the elven gods? Or..., maybe, just a funny mage that ate too much darkspawn flesh.

It is not weird. Malvernis is an anagram for (David) SIlverman, Bioware marketing director. Try reading it backwards.Salaya wrote...

it gives a hint of what DA2 could have potentially been if EA had given them more time
