My first reaction to this was: "Why? It doesn't make any sense." I just don't get it. Making last part of the trilogy... to Wii U. I wonder who looked at that and said "YEAH! Thay's a great idea!". To be clear I'm not hating on BW or EA. I just think that this won't work.

Well, the hope for getting a game in on console launch is hoping people buy your game because there's nothing else to buy.

This is very dissapointing, the funds and time should be spent on dlc and patches, fix the game first and when it is perfect then move on. Not before.

close. ME3 = doe, BioWare = redneck. fans on BSN = horrified bystander.

How about:

Doe = BioWare
Redneck = Vocal Fans
Horrified Bystander = Me

?

Because that works, too.

I would say it's more like this

Doe= BioWare

Redneck= EA

Horrified Bystander= Fans

This is so lame. I remember 2007 when Mass Effect was marketed as a story that takes places over three games. ME3 on the Wii-U? Oh? Where's the ME1 and ME2 ports? Oh right, it's the super bowl and the story of the first two games does not matter! The fact that you don't need the stories of ME1 and ME2 only proves that ME3 was written as a cash-in. I'm disappointed in you, BioWare.

Maybe gamers who will buy a Wii U have played the first 2 games on a different platform? Don't jump to conclusions.

That and the Fact ME1 is Microsoft not EA. So it will never end up on another console.

The controls will be... awkward... I mean, look at it! It is a tablet with buttons! But, I guess the touch pad thing could prove to be useful... But that controller is HUGE! I can imagine pains from playing long hours...

Well, whatever. If the entire series is re-released on the PS4/Xbox720(no clue what they will call the next one)/PC/Wii-U(unless nintendo upgrades by the time) with improved graphics/frame rate(on PS4, since PS3 slows down badly at the opening), all the dlcs, fixed bugs, and extras, I'll be happy. I do love HD collections(though, I doubt they would call it that in the next gen...).

Then again, the first game was published by microsoft... so it might not really work... and future owners of the PS4/Wii-U will be shafted, if it ever happens... Ah well, I can dream... then get distracted, and find something else to do... I'll do something else, now.

*Edit*
I just thought of something... Since the Wii-U has a touch pad on its controller, will it be possible to use that screen while playing multiplayer..? Think of the possibilities!! There would be no excuse for them to go away from the keyboard as they sit on the throne! At least, not for any longer than 30 seconds! And playing split screen multiplayer... with different screens! Literally! That would be epic...

PS3 players did not get the full Mass Effect experience. I'm sorry to say, but it really is that simple. PS3 players don't get to see the full development of the characters in the series. They'll never understand how Tali or Liara matured, or why Kaidan and Ashley felt so betrayed in ME2. They'll never have a deep bond with Wrex, or and they won't have as great an insight into Garrus' character. These things matter. ME2 brings even more to the table. To jump into the series with only the final installment as context takes all that writing, all that backstory, all the literary themes developed throughout the first two games and says: "That doesn't matter. As long as you can shoot stuff, our game is still good."

I've played ME1 before I got ME2 on the PS3. Also many of my Mass Effect PS3 friends who didn't have access to a 360/PC decided to watch a playthrough of ME1 on youtube,

It still doesn't change the fact, that most consumers won't be buying a Wii-U, until much later into the console cycle.(Tablet-Technology is still quite expensive.)

Even the ones that do, will go for much better-known games.

Stupid decision is stupid, no matter how much marketing BShi* you use.

They would be wise to reconsider.

No One is safe from the disappointing story of ME3!

Seriously though? This is the game that your going to try to expand your fan base with? Good job

Forget how Wii U will get caught up on ME1 & 2.

How are they going to participate in the Galaxy at War??? You know, the MP part you have to do otherwise you lose half of your War Assets??? Can't imagine the uproar there will be if they get to skip MP, and the PC, XBOX 360, and PS3 can't....

As the game stands now, War Assets don't matter, so what are they missing out on?

War Assets do matter, as how many you have and how effective they are, determines the choice of ending you get =]

Your talking about a supposed 16 endings in the game that is maybe 1% different if even that. Most of the bad endings you can't even get if you tried hard enough.

There are 16 different ending.  The official strat guide lists them on page 323.  Any ways, this thread isn't about the endings...  I was merely pointing out how was the Wii U going to handle MP

BioWare continues to devalue their franchise by pretending previous installments don't matter when attempting to cash-in on other platforms by only releasing part of the trilogy.

I wouldn't call that huge by any means. In fact, I believe that might be the most ergonomical controller of all time. I don't have huge hands, but I do find all controllers to be too small in one way or another. The Xbox 360 controller is the only regular gamepad that's big enough for me, but then again, the wireless version has the battery pack in the middle, which prevents my fingers from resting comfortably.

Not to mention that this alternative will hopefully be supported:

I'd actually like to see a complete reimagining of the whole trilogy. Fixing all the plotholes and inconsistencies, giving ME1 an improved combat system and completely redoing everything that has anything to do with the MAKO. Then making the events of ME2 much more important and finally giving ME3 the ending it should have.

That's the problem. But I actually doubt that MS would be able to do anything if EA decided to reboot ME.

Yes, absolutely. The tablet can improve ME in so many ways. When I first saw the tablet last year, I almost immediately thought about giving squad commands and quickly accessing your powers with it.

I'm not, but I'm 99% sure they won't. I wasn't on board for them to do ME2 on PS3 without ME1, either. It was sad watching them do PR where the goal was to make people believe ME1 is pointless, and that a 15-minute comic is just as good.

so many people saying ME1&2 should be on the WiiU too or at least a comic getting them up to speed from the past 2 games... none of those decisions you made in there make a difference so BioWare is not adding anything to do with 1&2. i just hope they at least add all the DLC with the discs for free (From Ashes, Resurgence, Rebellion, and EC if it's out by then). a bug-filled game that enraged a huge portion of the fans doesn't seem like a smart choice for a launch title to me but then again forcing the player to take their eyes off the TV to play the games seem like a bad idea to me too. i hate when people have to look at their controller to play now so nvm when it's demanded by the games.
