I'm reasonably sure that BioWare would've taken care of the legal side of things to cover themselves in the event they'd want to port Mass Effect 1 to a different console.

Were any of the features of the WiiU version demonstrated or talked about at E3 at all? Seems odd to just say, "Yup, it'll be on there" rather than take the opportunity to show it off at the show.

Wow! Now Nintendo has an M rated game besides Resident Evil. I don't really know what to think about this because, I don't know any adults that have a wii.(besides the one they bought for their kids) Maybe Nintendo is starting to think "hey there are people who are older than ten that play games"

I'll say the same thing I said when ME2 was announced for PS3. Without the rest of the trilogy, what is the point. Starting with the second chapter was bad enough, starting with the third chapter is worse.

EA can not release Mass Effect. It is still owned by Microsoft Studios who I wish never let Bioware go. Silly Microsoft.

The only thing Microsoft owns are ME1 console publishing rights. Everything else belongs to EA, including IP rights. And EA could bypass Microsoft's rights by slighty upgrading/modifying ME1 enging which would make it a different product and not the code Microsoft owns rights to. But I'm sure sooner or later EA will just buy the rights to ME1 back. It is in EA's interest to control tehir franchise 100%, especially will all the almost free money to grab with Trilogy collection on PS4/X720/WiiU/Vita in like 2 years, or right before the ME movie comes out.

What do I think about the Wii U getting Mass Effect 3? Well same thing I think about the Wii U: couldn't care less. Why bother porting it to a system that no one even has the faintest idea how it works and without the other two games to set the playing field for? Just dumb!

For me there are only two reasons why to buy the game for the wii u again:

1. A signifficantly better experience than on the 360. Either being able to play on the controller only. Would be nice to have me3 on a mobile device, to be able to play in bed.. Or something really awesome with the wii u controller.
2. I would want to be able to use my 360 savegames.I missed that possibility for da2 wich I believe to be better on consoles, but I had the savegame on pc, so couldn't. Don't know though if there are legal restrictions from the console manufactorers to use a companies own cloud service.

Woho! Wii U! Though I still think that name is kinda retarded. Nonetheless, more people get to play ME3. That's great! Word of advice however, when you get to the infamous Marauder Shields, let him do his job. You'll thank me later.

Ya great for Nintendo to get some more high profile titles, but at the same time the way Mass Effect is structured I can't really picture this without the first two being available.

And if they did an interactive comic like they did for ME2 on PS3..... that's gonna be one reaaaaallllllly long intro.

It would be VERY sad if the Wii U version will get extra features and a graphics increase when the PC version is just there, unimproved and without even the voice recognition that the Kinect uses...

Just imagine if they get to skip the MP part.... =]

Nah bro, the MP will be a series of minigames

They could put in some kind of trial in the beginning of the game where you make your choices.

I'm sure it's much more complicated than that. People always like to bring up the Ninja Gaiden example, but that was never published or funded by microsoft (check the dashboard). And EA won't buy the rights for ME1, MS would have to be willing to sell, wich I doubt they would, Sony still has publishing rights for IPs they don't own.
Anyway, surprised they didn't port ME2 aswell, nothings stopping them. Though I guess EA doesn't see the value in releasing a 2 year old game.

You mean the trial they should have included in the game?

Kinect sold a lot, yes, but I don't believe anyone uses it.

I've heard rumours it's popularity has been given a boost thanks to Skyrims latest update.

Even so, ME3 was one game that just shouldn't have had it.

I don't usually tamper with people's post out of respect, but it was me who said that. I changed it to my username. :innocent:

Anyway, I'm always optimistic about new "hardware". Kinect just didn't have creative devs do anything with it. In ME3, it's there, you can use voice command, but would you buy a Kinect for that?

Is it even more fun to use the Kinect in that situation, which is what it comes down to?

I'm afraid I don't even know what it does in Skyrim. I play Bethesda games at launch then I get the GOTY. I don't really listen to them inbetween. Is it just voice commands again, that's what a quick google search seemed to indicate?

Yes, Kinect in Skyrim is just voice control. And I think that developers are just now starting to get a handle on what they can do with Kinect, but it does have its limitations. However, I see much more potential in the WIIU/Smartglass concept. One of the advantages that the PC currently has over consoles is hotkeys. Imagine, though, if you had the power wheel always up in front of you on your tablet, and you could just tap the power you wanted to use instead of having to pause all the time. I think that would be great.

yes they did microsoft USED to own bioware back in the good days when they release Mass Effect 1 then Microsoft made the mistake of selling bioware to EA but Microsoft kept the licence to Mass Effect which is why Mass Effect was never realesed to PS3 and they only have 2&3

I'm rather surprised Bioware didn't try to do some kind of mass effect prequel for the WiiU. Such as the having Wii-U's game starting Shepard when he/she was first selected into N7, and ending the game with a reputation of being ruthless, a sole survivor, or a war hero.

It's cool to see Nintendo starting to branch out with their new system, but it is difficult to truly appreciate Mass Effect without playing the entire trilogy.

Actually, no Bioware was never owned by Microsoft. They were a completely independent developer until their partnership with Pandemic (purely for the pooling of resources). EA bought both studios not that long after that. Microsoft owns the rights to the first Mass Effect game, but they never owned Bioware. :)

Nintendo already has an established reputation for being mostly on the G-rated side. It is also going to be a few years into the next console cycle before the price drops to an acceptable (mass-markatble) level.

I think it's a bad move.

I don't understand how Wii U players who haven't been able to play ME1 or ME2 would get much pleasure out of ME3. It's one long story where your choices are meant to feel important. ME2 on PS3 with the comic intro was one thing, but skipping not just the first of three parts but also the second? It's basically Bioware saying "Meh, the story doesn't really matter. Just shoot **** in the face."

But are you going to buy Mass Effect 3 for a second time just to play on Wii U? Even without the option of importing a character?
If not then the question obviously doesn't apply to you.

Great so how are you going to fix the fact that when you start a brand new game there is no characters from ME1 or ME 2? They are all considered dead without a Mass Effect 1 and 2 saves. Do you really think Nintendo fans haven't already heard about the issue?

Let see, so that means no Mordin, no Tali, no Wrex, etc. Really? That's it, I'm done, I've said my worthless two cents.

Actually, no I'm not finished yet. Bioware, if you actually read these comments please listen to what I am saying here and now. You have a chance to start fresh with the Wii U. You could easily spend extra time to fix this issue and many others with the game and release a perfect version of Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U. Don't just release ME3 as it is right now. You don't want to change the ending, fine don't change it, but don't completely ruin the game on another console.
