I imagine EA talked to Nintendo about putting it on the Wii U before ME3 even came out, because I honestly can't see Nintendo willingly putting that on their system with all the garbage around it.

Yes it is true. Mass Effect 3 is coming to the Wii U targetted for Holiday 2012. We don't have any more information on the product at this time. I know this is not a lot of detail to go on yet and there will be some speculation. We'll give you details when they are available later this year.

I know you can't port ME1 without MS getting all up in arms about it, but you could at least add ME2 with Genesis, because the end of a trilogy is a horrid place for newcomers to start.
