I wonder because the game is rated M and the Wii-U console is aimed towards family, like the Wii. I know, there are a few M games for the Wii too, but you can count them with your fingers at most, so I wonder if the Wii-U version will be a "toned down" version (removing the romance, blood and "gory" stuff) to actually reach a broader "family" audience or just a full port.

Yeah, only families with little children and sporty grandparents play Nintendo consoles. Mass Effect is for the big boys.

Seriously...

well, well, ani't that a kick in head, ME3 on Wii U? I'm surprised because I switched off the stream after the ubisoft, and gotta love the FarCry 3 tities!

That is a very interesting announcement, I expect the textures will get even more downgraded because of the hardware being used so I like to see how this turns out tech wise

How do you know the textures will be downgraded?

It's a likely assumption. Games that were created for the Wii as well as the other consoles (PC, 360 and PS3) have downgraded graphics. The Wii wasn't designed to handle the same graphics as the other consoles.

Good thing this isn't a Wii then.

I think if EA is smart, they'll hand the WiiU development to another company and let BWE focus on developing new stuff instead of porting existing stuff.

(I think BWE should have focused on making XBox360 versions of ME2/3 only and have EA give another company the task of developing the ports of it. LA Noire ended up with an enhanced PC version that way. Mass Effect 1 was handled that way. I don't mind waiting for the PC version. Given some of Sony's practices surrounding the PS3, they might not have been willing to wait for it, though.)

Not gonna lie, and no offense btw, but this sounds dumb.

As someone who usually plays on console but has a PC and has dealt with his far share of crappy ports, I must say I agree with this.

They have not released specs for the Wii U yet, he just said he was assuming they would have to turn down the graphics. The past few nintendo consoles have all been underpowered compared to the other offerings on the market, though its by no means a rule they have to be, its not beyond the realm of possiblity they will continue this trend.

And it is a Wii though, a Wii U, its not the nintendo U, though perhaps you were worried about the distinction between the Wii and Wii u being blured.

I don't remember the Gamecube or the Nintendo 64 being underpowered.

Mass Effect and real games shouldn't even be on Nintendo. Honestly BioWare what are you thinking? Now kids are going to get a hold of it than parents, media will start complaining just like they did with Mass Effect 1. It too on the Parents most people and companies are stupid. Honestly The WiiU does look cool and weird. I'm waiting on Xbox 720 and PS4 here.

Why?

I mean...look at the audience the original Wii and the Wii-U is targeted: little kids (less than 13 years old), wives, grandpas and grandmas, and people that are not much into videogames. How would you sell a game like Mass Effect to those people? The game has gore, violence, sexual scenes (or implies them), moral decisions, tough choices.... in short, nothing you want your 10 years old kid messing around with.

Well I mean the last two really, but you seem to be easily offended by any imagined belittling of nintendo products so lets discontinue this line of conversation.

This whole topic is not realy of interest beyond curiosity about what they might ruin or add to the game, since I doubt their main market for this game will be people who already own the game on PS3 or xbox.

To me it's a bad idea. If I were a parent I wouldn't allow it to be on a kid system. I wouldn't let them play it either. Honestly it's not a good move BioWare we know you only care about money anyways not its fans. I still want fixing, new content and new endings!!!

Actually, they were underpowered.

When Nintendo 64 was out, the most powerful console at that time was the Atari Jaguar and when the Gamcube was out, the most powerful console at that time was the original Xbox (although before the xbox was out, the winner in power was the Sega Dreamcast).

Now, N64 used cartridges, which were expensive and lacked the capacity the CD had at that time, so  even if the PS1 was kinda slow, it's storage capacity was enough to allow more complex games to be on that console.

Maybe due to the fact they aren't intending it to be sold in that market? The Wii did have a market beyond those you just described, y'know. Plus I hear Nintendo is going to try to shoot for the hardcore market again.

I'm still waiting for the extended cut!

Edit:
Also, bringing Mass Effect 3 to the Wii-U is a dumb idea. Don't be suprised when it flops.

Not sure about this. First, How is this going to affect EC?, but also, I am curious how the game pad would work for this.

I was actually talking about in a more significant capacity. Graphics wise the games on Nintendo consoles were mostly in line with the other systems' games on the market. The Wii was the first Nintendo console where a gap in power was significant.

Bioware has completely gutted their game's inventory over the last two games.  The WiiU controller would seem to NEED, inventory, items and customizations to be viable.

So all of the elements that Bioware removed would work on a WiiU controller.  Ironic isn't it?  The very things that would enhance play with the WiiU pad have all been eliminated.

Thats what I think too. If they are going to do this then at least bundle it with ME2 and Genesis as well. Starting at the end of a trilogy is just a terrible idea no matter how you slice it.

Saying this though I am interested in how the Gamepad'll work for it.
