Can't really rank them.



Dog- Love the guy, his charm just won me over all the time.



Leliana-cute and rather odd but I enjoyed her anyway. Liked her singing.



Sten-He came across as a smartass when I first got him but as I played I came to like him more.



Oghren-funny dwarf but somewhat judgemental. Fun to see him all drunk.



Zevran- entertaining and his conversations with allistar are.....interesting.



Shale-Funny lol



Wynne-ok but sometimes get tired of her constant advice.



Loghain-hated the guy for every lie he put against me and even tried making it out to himself to be real.



Morrigan-hot but short sighted. When I tried to help redcliff she says with sarcasm "oh are we going to save kittens now?"...although on a few things she is really smart about, spirits and how to get a dead gods soul lol



Allistar-complains little much but is funny. His grudge against loghain for Duncans death was a bother though

1. Zevran- Because I love his romance the most.

2. Morrigan- Because she agreed with almost everything I did. I loved her friendship path.

3. Sten- Because he is awesome!

4. Dog- Puppy! The least judgemental of the group, definitely.

5. Loghain- Because I loved his character in the Stolen Throne and couldn't get over that...Plus, I play mainly evil characters so recruiting him wasn't a hard decision at all.

6. Shale- She was lovely. And liked squishing things.

7. Oghren- Eh, he was okay. Funny in some bits.

8. Leiliana- Her religious zeal was irritating. Liked her better after hardening her.

9. Wynne- I killed her my first playthrough...After recruiting her my second, I wished I hadn't. She loves lecturing my characters, and left after the sacred ashes anyway...

10.) Alistair- WHINE, WHINE, WHINE. T__T He was so irritating, and disagreed with almost everything my characters did and repeatedly called them insane. It was beautiful. I was happy at the Landsmeet. Mwahahaha...

1 - Wynne (the only one who is actually "here for you")
2 - Leliana (generally nice and sympathetic to everyone, but also mysterious past and a loyal friend/lover. Can put her own believes into perspective (as an elf you can even make her think of her racial preconceptions). Why yes, I'm a fanboy)
3 - Alistair (loyal companion with strong moral compass, sometimes a little whiny and self-righteous)
4 - Dog (cute, loyal, but simple. And I think Morrigan is right about him being manipulative)
5 - Morrigan (too self-absorbed. But very clever and know how to put others into place
6 - Sten (can actually be a good friend once you know him better. But he could really make that easier for you. Also too set in his ways; and I have the feeling that he is more upset about losing his sword then about massacring 8 poor farmers)
7 - Zevran (can be pleasant to talk to. But I still think he would betray you in a heartbeat if it serves him)
8 - Oghren (Sure, mostly a merry little drunkard. But there is an unstable and potentially dangerous drunkard underneath. Also doesn't seem to have much to say after a while (but maybe I need to feed him more alcohol))
9 - Shale (This might be a bit unfair because I haven't seen her on higher levels of approval. But so far she is only out to annoy the heck out of everyone. Can be fun, but "likeable" is something else)

My list based on how much I like them: I put 'good' comments before 'bad' comments and separate them with a slash.

1. My Character - I prefer soloing

2. Dog - doesn't care what I do, wets on landmarks, gives *me* presents on occasion / limited interaction with others

3. Wynne - the only character I feel I can have mature conversation with, supports my heroic acts, most interesting personal situation / a bit too critical of romance but she comes around

4. Leliana - friendly, supports my heroic acts / talks too much

5. Alistair - supports my heroic acts, fellow Grey Warden / needs to man up, mostly uninteresting chat options

6. Shayle - doesn't care what I do apart from the Anvil quest / hard for me to like until her past is revealed

7. Morrigan - interesting chats and friendship / harps on my heroic acts so I leave her in camp

8. Oghren - sometimes amusing banter with other companions / don't really care for him

9. Zevran - at least he has a personality / I've yet to allow him into my camp, don't need another rogue

10. Sten - "leave me here" - okay! / always leave him for the darkspawn, the dog has more personality

11. Loghain - the fact I forgot about him for this list should say something. To me he's only useful as a sacrifice, if I let him live.

I can live without all of the characters, as I often do while soloing. Some are entertaining enough, but I never miss anyone if they aren't with me.

5-10 are a toss up, i guess. Though i generally liked Sten, the Mabari and Wynne far more than the other companions.

Honestly, I don't like any of them. Then again, I've never used Dog or Shale, or Zevren... but I'm not buying the DLC so I'll never know for Shale. I assume I'll like dog because I like dogs irl. Zevren... he's bi, I'll probably hate him cuz I've read he constantly hits on you regardless of gender.

Certain characters I found rather unlikeable I ended up liking quite a bit after knowing them.
Shale, Sten, Oghren, and Loghain.

I suppose I have darker tastes.

I didn't care for Morrigan though, so go figure.

1. Leliana. I found her adorable and endearing. Across all the games I've played, she's easily my favorite romance.

2. Wynne. Do think she's the only one who ever bolsters you in game. Everybody else takes your abilities and competence for granted..so I appreciate Wynne all the more for it.

3. Shale. Made me laugh until I cried. I loved her dry sarcasm and "observations."

4. Morrigan. I didn't realize how attached I was to having her around until I turned down the ritual. Easy to peg as manipulative etc etc though I'd like to think deep down she really meant what she said about your friendship.

5. Dog. I'm not a fan of dogs irl, but that charming bastard won me over.

6. Oghren. He's my drinking buddy. Nuff said?

7. Sten. I didn't spend much time with him, but I like his conversations and would have very much liked to gift him a box of cookies. What gives, Bioware??

8. Zevran. Another character I didn't spend much time with...but that's what other playthroughs are for, right?

9. Alistair. The man let me down. I thought he was great in the beginning. He was charming and hilarious..overlooked his faults as result. However, my opinion of him changed greatly in the Landsmeet. I didn't romance him and in retrospect I wish I had just to get it out of the way so that I don't have to bother with him in subsequent playthroughs.

Loghain--can't comment.  Didn't recruit him.

1) Oghren  and Shale - Tie as both have some of the best lines in the game. From Mages with saggy bits to Alistairs hurting himself with the way he's twirling his pike when he's alone in the woods.

2) Lelianna - Le Femme Fatale, hello, she's hot, skilled and unlike Morrigan who'd spurn you once she gets her mother's precious grimoire, will actually continue to help you keep your bed warm.

3)Alistair  and Dog - Its really a tie between those too, Alistairs just a little more vocal about his likes and dislikes though Dog does not go bonkers at you during the landsmeet. Personally I keep Alistair around to see him in pantaloons.

4) Morrigan - I keep her around for the Lolz. Really.

5) Wynne - Technically she's an abomination zombie of sorts, and we all love zombies even sanctimonious preachy ones

I'd put Leske up near there as well, why are the dwarf origin companions the best out of everyone?

But as for main game companions...hmm...

1. Leliana; unapologetically sweet and while coming off as a bit crazy at times she is actually far more emotionally settled than most of the rest of the cast and she can has Schmooples!!!

2. Sten; quiet but can do more with what few words he says than others can do with whole rants, he's also a wonderfully intimidating presence to have at your back, and he has a sweet tooth!

3. Alistair; "here to deliever unpleasant news and witty one-liners" he sums it up himself! Although I find him a bit whiney at times he more than redeems himself with his humor and good looks (for the female chars )

4. Morrigan; Morrigan is my favorite character in the game, but not because she is overly likable, she is complex and hard to understand many times and her dismissive nature makes her rather annoying to have around at times but despite all this she is still up there because she does strike me as one of the most complex and deep characters in the game. 

5. Oghren; who doesn't love the drunk dwarf? he's got some of the best random dialogue in the game and his drunken conversations are epic. But despite of all that I'm very glad I don't have to smell him irl.

6. Shale; the HK-47 of Dragon Age, shale is awesome and brings that amusing synthetic-with-a-disregard-for-organics edge to the group. 

7. Zevran; ok I have to say it Zev reminds me of Puss in Boots from Shrek and he's awesome because of it. He is a bit one dimensional however, 95% of his lines are innuendo and while amusing, it does get a bit old to have him hitting on *every* female party member all the time. 

8. Wynne; she can be nice to have around, as she is more the "mentor" character than any other, however her advice does get old. My characters aren't Sten dammit! They don't want to be all serious Grey Warden business all the time so enough with the "duty" and "honor" speeches. Heh, had to get that off my chest, she lost some serious me approval on my last playthrough for going all disapproving nanny on me for my fling with Zev. Riot Inducer disapproves (-15) <_<

And for the record I didn't count dog or Loghain because while dog is an awesome dog he is a dog and I'm not a dog person. And Loghain has yet to give me any good reasons to not lop off his dumb head.
