Is dwarf society really THAT masculine and male dominated? Hm.
Of course, anyone who played as a male dwarf noble would have noticed that at the Provings there were a number of very sexist comments made towards Adal Helmi... the player themself even has the option to say to her face "There is no honor in fighting a woman." (of course people say things that are quite the opposite if the player is female, but I just think they're bluffing, because of course nobody would say such things to the most important and powerful woman in Orzammar.)
There are other things too, but I won't say cause here it's all NO SPOILERZ fudge.
That's really how it is, huh?
Dwarves, sexist?

I'd say that some dwarves are somewhat sexist but I don't think it is that big of a problem in Orzammar. It seems as though plenty of Dwarven women have prospered in Orzammar and some have even become paragons through out the dwarven history (Branka). You see a good number of female deschers in game and there is more than one female you face in the provings.

Silent sisters, female paragons, female warriors in general, and the female Dwarf Noble is being considered more likely to ascend the throne than her two siblings.

I'd say that there's sexism in the Dwarven society, but not as much as, say, in the 50's Western societies. Women in the dwarven society clearly can achieve any position a man can - as a fighter, even as a sole ruler, though I'd asume that it's tougher for a woman to achieve respect in those roles, and those roles are male-dominated.
