So to quote George Lopez, "why you crying?"
It still hits hard as hell and remains a great weapon.

Probably the smartest thing said so far. BioWare has NO CLUE AT ALL how to make a proper AR. None of them are good enough for anything other than flavor, i.e. just to have something that stings a little. And finally, they make ONE good AR and then they start nerfing it. This is just absolutely ridiculous.

Indeed. The Female Quarian Engineer is left in the deep dark pit of uselessness for yet another week...
I did top the scoreboard twice on Silver with it though, and if you knew me (a quaint definition would be "remarkably mediocre"), you'd understand that either speaks volumes in favour of the class or in disfavour of my teamates...

Sounds about like present-day M-16s, then: good for fire suppression, not so much for actually killing things.OniEdge wrote...

No, she's awful. She's only good against reapers, but she falls completely short against everything else. It's sad too that her best builds revolve against using Sentry Turret altogether...

the harrier wasn't heavy for an assault rifle.DJepic112 wrote...
Why would Bioware make the Harrier heavier when it's already so damn heavy as an assault rifle? It also really isn't that strong and holds extremely little ammo. Sad.
it still isnt.
it used to be only 10% heavier than a mattock of equal rank.
and lighter than a revenant.
Now it's the same weight as a revenant.
the revenant isn't even a heavy gun, there are heavier assault rifles than the revenant.

As for the Harrier weight nerf-- I just don't get it.
I don't have the weapon yet, but from I gather it was a mostly balanced weapon in need of some ammo capacity love. Best guess is that they're trying to force it into the hands of classes with AR weight reduction passives-- Vorcha, Turians, Asari Justicar. No idea why.
Obviously the Krysae and Reegar are going to need nerfing, I think they just want the community to get cocky and attached to these weapons before smashing them to bits.
My rather cynical guess is that some of these balancing moves are done with microtransactions in mind: nerf a weapon that many have yet to max, and you drive down sales.
Might also explain why the Harrier was only nerfed at higher tiers; realistically most people won't have it at a level where this nerf makes a significant difference for quite some time.
Granted, I saw somebody the other day with an N7 of (literally) over 9000 and a Harrier X. Naturally I decided to GTFO; something shady was probably afoot with that guy.

But the Harrier, which even less people will have, was fair game?

Eh, the Harrier only got a "nerf" at level X. I to IX hasn't even been changed...
Again. Is it really that big of a deal?

Well, the turret is there to be a distraction, nothing more, the big synergy is cryo-incinerate... At least that's how I spec her, but like I said, I'm a mediocre player, so I never venture beyond Silver...whalewhisker wrote...

Only once I did a gold match, but I ended up there by mistake (quick match bug), and even though I extracted, I frankly have no idea how that was even possible... :/
But one of those Silver matches I mentioned was against geth... The other was reapers, yes...

I saw you talk about the eagle, I was just wondering what the numbers were now because some else posted that and Eagle 10 is only slightly more powerful than a Predator 10. But it's not even possible to have an Eagle X, so there exists no situation in the game in which that is possible. So it does not really matter what an Eagle X can do.

We are looking at the Krysae balance closely and will probably have some changes for it soon.

Is giving the Harrier more ammunition on the table?

The Saber is probably the only other good AR in the game, but since it is a UR and most people have it at a low level where it's not as good . Leveled up it can do more damage then Viper X with a level 5 barrel mod and if you put the level 5 barrel mod on a high level Saber it will do more damage then a unmodified Mantis X !
The Mattock and Vindicator are good mid level AR, If the Collector Rifle was easy to level up it would be better then half the ARs in this game. The Argus and Valkryie would be better then half the ARs in this game! The Harrier is better then half of the ARs in this game, and competes with the Saber in the UR category! There is not enough high end ARs that do decent damage, unless you use the Grenade Luanchers, which suck at headshots and can't shoot through cover with AP mod.

Looking at stats for other weapons I can see that this is consistent; most weapons scale between 0.5 and 0.6 weight over all ten tiers. Notable exceptions:Eric Fagnan wrote...

Raptor :1.75-1.0
Indra: 1.25-1.0 (which seems unfortunate given its underwhelming performance and Ultra Rare status)
and perhaps most relevant:
Reegar Carbine: 1.75-1.0
i.e. identical scaling to the Harrier
How exactly does that make sense?
We are looking at the Krysae balance closely and will probably have some changes for it soon.
Personally, though opinion varies wildly on this, I think the Rarity of the three new weapons was backwards.
It would have made a lot more sense had the Harrier been a Rare weapon and the Krysae and Reegar been Ultra Rares. Just my 2 cents.
Balancing those weapons working backwards from the current drop rate and their relative distribution in the community (I have Reegar and Krysae at X but no Harrier, for instance) is a job a do not envy you.
Thanks for keeping us informed, though.
