Me and some friends are going to start a review show where we review various video games, and I am the one who will do Dragon Age.  I reinstalled it, and I had the idea of reviewing various mods, because as far as I know, nobody has ever done that beyond "top 10 mod" lists. For me this is very important because I personally would really appericate somebody who would walk me through various mods.   Problem, I have no experience with mods. So I went to PC gamer's "18 essential dragon age mods" and they recommended something called DA modder, which apperantly meant that once I download the mod and put it into 7-zip, i need only drag it over to the DA modder and press install.  I have not yet reached a point in my game where any of these mods kick in (I had to install it on a different computor, so I am currently in the watch tower), but I noticed that some of the mods had this message

This mod was installed by DAModder, but it was not distributed with a
DAModder compatible package. DAModder is able to install it, but can provide no
details for the mod. Consider asking the mod author to make the distribution
compatible with DAModder.

Not all of them did, but some of them and that is concerning.  I haven't tested it yet, but I'm assuming that this means these mods will not work.

what should I do?  Remember, I am absurdly stupid when it comes to computors, so explain this to me in the most easy to understand language possible.

Mods that seem to works

Ally of Murders

Mods that have that message
Return to Castle Cousland_v3
Extra Dog Slot
Lealion_Mage_Beta_3
Karmas Origins Story
Divine Spell School
Return to Kocari Wilds
Saarebas
Ser Gilmore
Storage Chest
The BloodWorks
Dark Times
Temple of Vulak

Any advice on how to download these so that they work properly?  I have never modded before

Also I don't know if this matters, but I have installed most of the story content DLCs and I don't have Awakening

If anyone could help, preferable in easy basic step by step format that would be much appreciated

Let's say you want to install Alley of Murders, which is one you mentioned.

Download the mod by clicking the "files" button, then click the download link, and then choose the server you want to download the file from.

I've never used the DAModder, so for questions about it you'd have to consult whatever manual that came with it. Or the discussion section of the mod on the Nexus.

However, you can also use the DAUpdater, which is an .exe file that comes with the game, or ModManager to install mods. I'm familiar with both.

Note that Alley of Murders is a .dazip file. Download it, remember the location you downloaded it to, and leave it alone for now (for now).

To install with DAU: open DAU. There should be a shortcut in your Dragon Age start menu folder. If not, find the Dragon Age folder on the drive you installed DAO to and look in the "bin_ship" folder to find the file. Open it. Click "Load DAZIPs" and browse to the location where you downloaded your AoM file. Install. Close DAU and run DAO and check your downloable content menu to make sure it installed. That's it. This method will work for all mods in a .dazip file format.

With MM, download it from the Nexus in the same way you did with AoM above. Follow the instructions to install it. A very descriptive manual can be found here. Place the Alley of Murders DAZip file into the DAO-ModManager\\mods\\dazip folder. Open MM. In the "Mods in Mod Folder" viewer, right click the AoM file and select install. The mod should appear under "Installed DAZips". Close MM and start DAO. Check your DLC menu to make sure it is installed. For files not in a .dazip format, the MM manual I linked to has careful instructions on how to install them.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

This question is in the wrong forum.  The Character Creator cannot be Modded, but even if it could, there are proper forums for the subject matter, and this place isn't one of those.

Start from here:  social.bioware.com/forum/1/category/8/index
