Just split evenly between str and dex? Slant it towards strength?
Con seems like a waste to me.

I got his CON and DEX up to 20 then dumped everything on strength. This allows him to do alot more damage.

All STR, all the time.

I also did all STR, all the time. Dog has no requirements for any of the "Dog" talents, and STR and DEX both contribute equally to his chance to hit. Only STR increases damage though.
I think it is pretty easy to use the Dog and not have the AI focus on him- which means the AI isn't attacking him, so you only need enough HP to survive the AoE attacks.
Ergo, no CON needed. Curious if anyone has had different experiences when their party had a good tank in it though.

Depends if you want him to tank or not. But:

The fact that Dog can get the warrior talents on the non-pc versions also makes the decision very different. I'm on PC, so the possibility of the Dog tanking isn't really viable as I understand it.
On PC, Dog is DPS with an AoE stun. Also excels at shredding mages in record time.

I've always put everything on strength and bumrush archers/mages whenever possible.

yea, dog is a mage-seeking missile. all strength. he should never be meleeing someone who can actually hit back so the defense from dex is useless.

PC users can't pick warrior talents for Dog?
Well, frankly you aren't missing much, but only because Dog has so fewer talents points than any other character. At lvl 20, he's finally maxed out the Mabari talents. All two rows of them. If you WANT to buy warrior talents, you certainly can, but you're going to give up something for them. And I LIKE Overwhelm. A lot.

Clearly all points should go into Magic.
