I'm very for this! I kind of feel like I'm taking care of these men. lol I'm already saving the world, it'd be nice to have a strong dominant male to take control.

LOL! Exactly! That's kind of how I feel with Alistair sometimes. xD I mean, some girls want a guy like him and he is attractive in his own ways, but sometimes a girl just wants a strong dominant guy to take her against any available surface at times. >>; And I can't think of any other way to phrase that without sounding even more dirty, so there you go, haha.

lol That's exactly how I feel!  I love Alistair but you get the impression that you will always have to guide him, even in the bedroom and I imagine that he may always be asking "is this alright, are you alright, right here?".  LOL  I much prefer the dominant, take charge guy as well.

ROFL! I imagined that as well! Him stopping mid sex because of something and being like, "Am I hurting you? I can stop if I am, I don't want to hurt you..." and my character being all, "....!?" While that's cute in a way, after the second or third time of that my character would start getting frustrated and not in the 'good' sense. xD

I'd also like the option to romance a mage. I'd like to see a romance with a brainy, cerebral type. Sure, the knight in shining armor is nice, but I'd like it if games broke out of that convention every once in a while. Seems like we ladies can always romance the shining knight or the cheeky rogue but we never get the brainy mage.

Only if Bioware give us better looking robes. I swear, tailors in Taedas probably have a conspiracy to make Mages look silly wearing feather shoulder pads and all. Don't get me started on the helms, take a gunny sack, stick in some teeth and add a jangle of ribbons.... wheee!
One of the many reasons why any mage should became an arcane warrior as soon as they can, just the novelty of wearing something not silly was more then enough I would think.

This was good for a laugh. I agree with basically everyone, a strong male (either warrior or mage), and a sexy, non religious crazy or a non sociopath female for my male character.

Well you know there is....the STEN. Or would be if he was romanceable...but he's qunari and might take a big bite out of yer neck trying to snuggle, or rip at least one of four possible limbs from your body......maybe too strong? Image IPB

But let's take notes guys and gals both want a strong, no-nonsense type to romance, some would like a brainy type to romance. DA:O is loaded with warriors, short of rogues and mages. Rogues won't fit the bill as the hunky tough guy cause they're more towards brainy(you may argue this but a Sten type doesn't make a good picture of a rogue for me). Mages are all brainy with the exception of Morrigan and are all women, so ya have to balance it with a guy. You'd then get two brainy types and one sexy-but-tough warrior girl which still leaves a hunky warrior guy to put in, bringing your warrior overload to 6 or 7 if the pc is a warrior even if only 3 are romanceable at that point and still leaves mages n rogues short in numbers (if we care for balance anyway)....but I like the characters we have currently in terms of their personality but it could never hurt to have a larger romanceables list if as it's been stated that we dislike the options we have now.

I think I just over-complicated that....does that make me a brainy type or a hunky tough guy? Image IPB

For me personally, being a straight woman, I would LOVE to get a dark haired fellow, more mature both in age and in personality, the strong, silent type if you will.  I'm not talking Duncan's age but something a little older than the early 20's that Alistair and Zevran seem to be would be nice.  class doesn't matter but I would prefer him to be human simply because, like comparing Alistair to Zevran, they are taller and bigger overall.  Someone a little more manly, with a deep voice a must.

basically just a strong female personality would be nice.  Morrigan is a sociopath and Lelianna thinks the Maker talks to her.  We get it Bioware, women are weak and need to be coddled by a strong male character.

What is so wrong with an intelligent, kind AND strong willed female character?  In every bioware game we typically get 1/3, sometimes 2/3.

As for males, I don't really care, but I'd imagine it'd be nice to have more options than a bisexual man **** and a whining royal bastard.

The problem with having a dominant romantic option is that you, the player, have to take the lead through out the game. Maybe the writers have trouble switching gears from having the PC lead the fight against the darkspawn and follow an npc romantically.

If you really want to anger the maximum number of forum readers, Anora would need to be bisexual as well.

Not really, for those who can be romanced can also be dumped.
It would not be sufficient payback, but if you could say things to her that are half as outright mean as the things you can say to Alistair, it's a start.

Considering the amount of hate that the final love scene for Alistair and Morrigan bestows I'm thinking just the mention of an Anora romance possiblity could ignite a dry bush.

I´d like to see a romance with a character Sten-style: basicaly a person who is not weak in any sense, nor phisical, nor mental; clearly convinced of his capacities, with a terribly deep philosophical understanding and a strong tendency to overanalize.

Or even better, a medieval Tyler Durden; a character I´d turn gay for.

To be fair about the strong woman thing, has there been any strong men that were romanceable in any bioware games. None come to mind.

probably true.

So please, Bioware, just a strong CHARACTER to romance :P

The closest thus far in my opinion is Jaheira in BG2. But she still had issues.

I would have sworn that was Viconia. Jaheira was just a tad too naggy for me. Felt almost like dating my mother.

But I would love to have had a stronger female companion, human preferably and perhaps a tank, so that way I can dress her up in all the armor we find, :P mage's robes in this game are just ....fugly.

Viconia has a number of issues larger than the Maker´s list of canceled concerts and public interviews.

That Marmalade woman?!
Well, ya, pretty much at first, it was her voice though that I love, then she went bonkers (I STILL blame Nasher...the cad!) and all she saw when she looked at me was how many times she could back stabbity stabity stabbity!
At which point it was ..."Sword, meet evil, evil meet ssssssswwwwwwoooorrrddd!!" or something like that. I did spare her though but instead of running off with me like I suggested, she gave herself up to nasher, the silly cow.

Anyways, they could always come up with a Queen Brodesia character, say dalish origin, who fought to save / free her clan only to have lost to the local Bann, who happens to be an ardent Howe supporter which automatically makes him a scumbag. Throw in the usual scumbag nastiness of rape, pillage and murder in lavish quantity against the defeated dalish clan. PC's party just happens to stumble across all this after Lothering and depending on what you choose to do, either gain her as a willing party member or she's an unwilling member simply because you haven't decided if you want to kill her yet.

So to recap, she's been tortured, raped and had her clan anilhilated and her own survival is for the moment intimately tied to your good will. She will of course hate humans, but is malable enough that depending on what you do, can turn or win her over. Or she might just go bonkers and decide to kill attack you.
*shrugs* Make her character strong, so she has more then just the will to survive, she wants vengance too, and oh, this of course will "fix" the end fight with Howe to something similar to Mass Effect's Bring Down the Sky DLC "renegade" ending...
Beat Howe down, ....cut scene ....Howe challanges / spits on PC...
PC or Brodesia stabs Howe in the Leg...
Howe still defiant
PC or Brodesia stabs him in the shoulder
Howe starts to think that maybe pissing you off was not such a good idea
PC or Brodesia stabs him in the other shoulder...
Howe whimpers and begs for life
PC and Brodesia banters about it ...then go "nah....and cut Howe's feet/legs off (cut scene showing PC or Brodesia doing a hard downward axe chop) ...and leave him to bleed to death.

This of course should end with PC and Brodesia having an extended bout of calisthenics in their shared tent.

Or we could have something a little more "romantic".

I am of an opposite mind in the romances.

Uh, I like the romances from a female perspective just fine. I do not see strength as "taking control" and "Dominant" males...well...not my thing. Assertive, stable, and self reliant, yes. Strong unto themselves, yeah. But since you are playing a "lead", having a male compete to run things rather sours the romance. A weak lead would not be able to perform her function as lead.

As far as romances for male characters, one of the things I love about DA is the fact there are NO elf chicks to romance. Every single fantasy RPG I've played, from Baldur's gate to NWN 1 and NWN2 OC, the only option was a friggin elf, or half elf. Elf females are so overused in fantasy romances as to make it rather tedious and redundant. Which is why I never bothered playing males after a time. DAO was refreshing in that aspect, as well as offering same sex romance options.

I do not like the "tall dark and handsome" stereotype for males, I prefer something more real. Personal flaws, personal strengths, a realistic character. The fact that both males, Alistair and Zev, were very quirky, goofy blondes was actually quite nice.

For female romancables, I'd like to see tougher ones that are interesting and original. For starters, classes such as fighter/warrior and rogue/thug (not bard) would be really original and refreshing, as opposed to the stereotypical female=mage/priestess/bard not-getting too-dirty-girly-classes. And of course, one who is not particularly weak or needy, but actually wants to be with said character because they LIKE them. A mind blowing concept there.

I look forward to future romances not being RPG cliches', but being truly different than the mold.

You can have a foursome with two males and two females (pc included). Or two males one female if the PC is male.

Ack! Where? How? And why haven't I done this yet? :o

The nice captain in the pearl, even though it is a one-time thing. You get Zev and either Lel or Ali.

Um, no. You can't have Zev and Alistair together, only Zevran and Leliana and Isabela. It's stupid that Zevran is the one to back out if Alistair is there.

So if you are a female PC it's always one guy and two girls, or one guy and three girls, or just two girls, or even three girls. Image IPB
