Well, in fact it was never going to be an issue for me. I ALWAYS chose Ash for the win. Her butt was so prime, as were her other girlie curves (though EXACTLY the same body as Liara's...just without the kalamari head).
I dunno, have you seen Kaidan's assets? There are many Tumblrs dedicated to them.

Can I just say, I admire your patience SavageNoble.
It's amazing games aren't frozen in 1986, when you see the resistance to include new opportunities, new fans and even a different gender from the male one.
I applaud you. And Bioware too, for trying to navigate forward, despite the storm.
Funny thing, patient is generally the last thing those closest to me would call me.

No offense, but I thought Kaiden was gay as soon as we set foot on Eden Prime.
He does give off "the vibe".

At least they knew not to make Ashley bi. That would have made incredibly less sense.
But so much hotter! She should be exclusively into male Shepard AND any other female he might pick up (Liara, Kelly Chambers, the Consort, etc).

I felt like it was really out of place. Tali & Garrus were the most mature characters in the trilogy and they were firmly established as asexual in ME1. Despite whatever they were originally designed for that's not what made the final cut. I felt like the sudden change in ME2 from asexual to straight really cheapened them and detracted from their established characters.

More than me, you are. Had I been a moderator, I'd probably closed this thread around 3 pages ago, on grounds of it being unconstructive and/or a possible homophobic bait thread.
But yes. Kaiden was gay already from Mass Effect 1 for me, because nothing he ever says in the games contradicts this interpretation. So he cared for a girl called Rahna? I have friends I care about too. Some of those are female also. Nothing there to interrupt my favorite interpretation of Kaiden.
And he sure does have nice assets.

But even still, it's a bit ridiculous. Buy a friend who is in the hospital a gift.. he assumes you're sexually interested. Could have been handled better.
That's the problem with the most Bioware romances. Incredibly hamfisted
In ME2 it was done surprisingly good, when at the certain point of the dialogue choices screamed to your face "ROMANCE OPTION" and if you don't take it, you can still stay friends with the person and be as nice as you want. (not that there's much friendship dialogue after that but that's another problem)
And I am too against changing establishing characters. I all welcome bi or gay LI, but they should be clearly stated as such from the beginning (Like Zevran, Isabela, Liara or Cortez). Of all s/s options in Bioware games I am somewhat bothered by Kaidan and Anders s/s romances exactly for that reason alone. They were not established a bi/gay when first introduced so it was hard to see them as suddenly becoming such.
And also I don't think PC-sexual characters are something good and should be continued to be done in the future games. IMO it cheapens them.

Meant as a jab at the OP but you're right.
It did.
I choose Tali as my LI almost every game, but you're right. It did.

I never took Tali in ME1 as "asexual", nor Garrus. I took them to be normal, ie, interested in their own species. Garrus was obvious - he is drastically like a cross between a bird and a lizard with needle-sharp teeth, spiney armor plating, claws, etc...hardly the things that actual human women (or men) dig sexually. Tali was clearly very similar though masked (figuratively and literally). They bent them to romance due to fan reaction.
Have to say "odd" fan reaction. NO one in real life would be even remotely attracted (sexually) to actual living examples of either.

So you see, they were ESTABLISHED already and you didn't like their personalities to be changed. By the same merit, you should not like Kaidan being changed to bi

That was why I was very steadfastly neutral to whatsisname in the hanger bay...I could tell immediately when a conversation was a BIG setup for a gay setupon. While personally I would have liked to have my Shepard be nice and compassionate to this crewman, I had to steer him well clear because it was just bleeding "gay thread".

Does it not? Are you sure? I know it definitely affects weather or not he asks if male Shep is flirting with him in the hospital, and I remember reading somewhere that it also affected the date scene...Commodore Q wrote...
The gift in hospital has zero effect on the citadel date. Only thing that effects that is if you've already locked into a romance or not.
This! I was severely disappointed after playing Dragon Age first and having Zevran available in that game, then finding that Mass Effect had no S/S romances for males.Cyne wrote...

They keep making the same mistakes. Anders went from Andraste has a nice rack in Awakening, to I want you hard and deep man in DA2. Then they ddid it again with TOR they make everyone bisexual in a patch.

Thanks. Even if some people will probably think the image alone is more offensive than all those who wish gay people would just go away. Ah. I needed that.

I'd be surprised if someone actually complained about such a tame screenshot. If they do, I have other screenshots from the game that would undoubtedly offend them even more.Hvlukas wrote...

I understand the point that the OP was trying to make. If it changed his behavior in game and he just didn't seem like Kaidan anymore, it would bug me. But since I have never played a male Shepard and never will, he's still the same sweet Kaidan he always was. <3
