Wether you love sacrifice or romance or being able to fight with your forces to the end to actually beat the reapers or fight till the last minute

With the destruction of player decision and the will to change or truely affect things at the end being gone

This amazing triliogy or even most of mass effect 3 won't be remembered for being one of the greatest msot emotionally compelling games and coudl've rivaled that of starwars or lord of the rings but now it will forever be the game that has tore the community apart wether you love the ending or you absolutely hate it

I still think their could've been a way to at least almost be close to satisfy  everybody it is a shame that it won't be so

Are you talking about the SW & LotR movie franchises or their videogames?

Before ME3, Mass Effect was the Star Wars of it's generation, and it had a world that was so much more interesting with infinitely more potential than that which Star Wars has squandered.

But hey artistic integrity right.

The franchises I'm sure... neither of their video games were that special (although the Two Towers and Return of the King video games are a LOT of fun)

Their frachises as a whole mass effect could've been like star wars or lord of the rings for the gaming community

pretty sure she's talking about their primary franchise... the books for LotR (thought the movies were highly disappointing), and the original 3 movies for starwars....

I personally didn't like the ending for the reasons in my other thread but I just wish that player choice would've really stayed and that pretty much everybody could've had their own ending

I agree. This is what happens when a great franchise sells out. At least Star Wars had a complete trilogy ("But Ewoks"...I know...I know....still...) before it crapped out tho'. Too bad about Mass Effect...aw well.

Yup this is so true. And such a shame that it really was possibly bigger than SW.

That was always my point.

They kept saying "we did it because we wanted to be unforgetable".

Mass Effect was already unforgetable for its fans. They don't need to cluster**** it to make an unforgetable game.

ME trilogy is better than LOTR and SW because those other series wussed out and went for the unartistic Disney happy endings.

I had high hopes for the future of Mass Effect. Now, I...I don't know.

In literary terms, if you do a huge twist like the catalyst, you do it in the middle of the series, not at the end.

Even the Matrix got that right.

If you're suggesting that the series should have ended the way those two franchises did, then meh. The conclusions for both of 'em are arguably their worst features.

LOTR didn't have an extremely happy ending. Frodo is an entirely "broken" individual and he was forced to leave his friends.
But LOTR deserves a happy ending, for those movies I cried or almost cried at least 3 times per movie, just because of how sad it was to see some characters killed off.
And Star Wars did have a happy ending but it certainely wasn't a Disney "everything is good and nobody died" ending. Star Wars ended with Luke's father dying, which is pretty sad, although the rest of it was really cheery and triumphant.
