People seem to be pretty down on the concept of the EC just as cinematics. But what would it truly take to satisfy the community?
What if EA did actually retcon the game, and let you mail/trade in your ME3 disc for a new copy of "The Director's Cut" with a rebuilt Priority: Earth and ending?
After all, we are looking at a 4-5 month development time for the EC to hit the "summer" window. April-August or September. That's enough time for BioWare to do just about anything they want with the game. Sure it would cost them significant money, but it would also go down as the most awesome customer/fan service in video game history and buy EA potentially years of hype and goodwill. Really, what's the wholesale price on DVD's now, 15 cents? It's not entirely implausible either. It might cost EA $1-2 million to burn and distribute new discs, but happy fans means more DLC purchases, and likely new buyers as well. Long run it wouldn't cost them much and it would provide marketing that no amount of advertising could ever buy.
Wouldn't this pretty much be the best-case scenario?
What if...
