If Bioware announced one thing about DA3 that would make you buy it no matter what (if you aren't going to already), what would it be?

Note, I don't actually know what David's writing plans are and this is the first I heard that Asunder was the final novel.

But to be fair to David, he HAS been doing Dragon Age writing for pretty much a decade. I wouldn't hold it against him if he decided to write less about it in his time when NOT writing specifically for BioWare too! Haha.

As I recall, I think David Gaider said he would personally take a break from writing DA novels because working on games, novels, and other media forms was very taxing. At the same time, I believe he stated that he might let other writers take the reins for a novel or two.

Yeah, he said in an interview recently that the books are really time consuming and he wouldn't mind letting another of the DA writers take a stab at doing the novels for awhile.

Though I really did hope he'd do a couple shorts for us one day in his spare time (har har). Maybe something like "Hard in Hightown"?

*EDIT* - sorry, TEWR, I guess you got this. Posted Image

also Stolen Throne has Logaine in it?I feel about him the way other people on the board feel about a loveable Asari.

I feel no love for the asari. But I think Loghain's a cool character, and if you do too, then you should definitely read The Stolen Throne. I'm about halfway through, and it's awesome.

Loghain is a primary character in The Stolen Throne. The book is based partly on his actions as part of the rebellion against the Orlesians (and since he's Maric's second, he's pretty much in the whole book). It definitely adds tremendous depth to his character.

As for it possibly being David's final book, he's stated that it just takes too much time. He was writing these novels while also leading the team that wrote Origins, Awakening, DA2, and Exalted March (the DA2 expansion, which has been canceled). So he has to go to work and lead a team of writers making a video game, and then he goes home and has to write novels (at least for the first one, they wouldn't let him do it at work, so he had to do it on his own time).

Not to say that his judgment won't slip in the future and that he'll agree to write another one (in fact, I'm quite counting on it), but so far his comments haven't given much hope of him writing another book anytime soon.

Note that the novels are independent. They share the same setting (and you see some of the same characters—Maric is in The Stolen Throne and The Calling, for instance, and Shale is in The Stolen Throne and Asunder, although she's not yet "aware" in the first one), but they're not parts of just one tale. Like the games, the books are stories set in Thedas, not a contiguous series telling a single story.

The book is about a much younger Loghain. Before he became the Loghain you met in DA:O. I loved all the books. Even if you don't love Loghain (I never did) it's still really satisfying to love to hate him. ;)

Yeah, that makes sense. He's not so much a favorite of mine that I'll never side against him (already did), but I am glad that my next Origins playthrough after reading this book will be one where he lives, now that I like his character more than I did judging by the game alone.

I'd Like to see a reason for why logain went Psyco.First time I played it I was sort of expecting a demon to pop out when I cut his head off.Maybe in 3 we could go through his office and find a mission/paper work to maybe clear his name? After all canon is kinda loose in the game.

I haven't read the book, but I believe it explains why Loghain really really really hates the Orlesians.

Hey how about no more bosses!

If you're not serious, then disregard this...but...

LOL WUT?

No seriously, please Bioware.  Do not go the ME3 route with no major bosses.  Having tactical boss fights in the DA series is something I've always loved.  Fighting a Dragon in DAO and DA2 was hard, as it should be.  I shouldn't be able to hack'n'slash them for 1 minute and win...and if people don't want to play like a tactician they can put it on casual and button mash through the fight.

but every boss fight in DA2 is hack n slash, DA2 combat is brutal, worst combat I have every seen in an RPG bar FFXIII

You know FFXIII is ATB just sped up to to it's fastest setting and then set against a timer.

I don't agree that fighting a dragon is hard. The trick it make your tank face it away from the rest of the party and it's a piece of cake, even Flemeth. The general problem with RPG boss fights is HP inflation which leads to hacking off a lot of hp's. In that respect DA2 is much much much worse than FFXIII , once you get the methodology of FFXIII boss fights are relatively painless. IF you don't however, then yes you are in for some VERY long slogs.

If you want to see good entertaining combat DD delivers , great fun to play. Not sure it would work in DA though.

You're discounting the fact that the dragons can pull in the weaker mages and ranged allies to melee distance.  And also the fact that they can pick up your companions and chomp on them for a good 20-30 seconds which can effectively kill them unless you have a spirit healer who ALSO has the heal skills recharged enough so they can save them and out heal the damage, which is about 50/50 chance.

Hmmm really really hates vs. the Psyco he became in DA:O.There had to be a preasure point, something that made him snap.He planned weeks before the battle to poison Arl Emmon(sp),weeks or months selling the elves,Making deals with a blood mage to take over the circle, allowing the Couslands to be killed.Something or maybe someone set him off.I think it would be fun to play detective for a while and find out the cause, even if it's just the Imperium.I get kind of tired of hack/slash and blood.

Loghain does mention it in the book. In my opinion, his reasons for hating them are totally understandable. It's amazing that he didn't snap a long time ago. Not that I agree with what he did in DAO, but it's easy to sympathize with him.

If bioware announced Da3 was more faction oriented, I'd be 'more' inclined to by it.

I don't want to feel like I'm just doing the dirty work for my preferred faction like in origins and Da2, I want to actually be apart of the chantry/inquisition with ranks, quest and acknowledgement from Npcs like salutes or that thing when templars cross their hands over their chest when I walk past as a sign of respect.

I would also like more " job roles" available to my protagonist, I found this lacking in the previous titles. We don't all have ambitions to take a throne.I'd be very content serving as the new knight commander or high lord of the templars.

I would like to see the return of Herron and Wade to DA3, mainly so we could have someone who can create special armour or weapons but also because I would like to see how they are doing.

Thank you,you just nuged a brain cell and gave me a thought!"I will Preorder DA 3 if I get free DLC that allows me to play ME3 without (*&^#$%*()&^ multiplayer." not joking.

Do you mean no multiplayer existing in the game, or just that the one ending not require improved galaxy readiness in order to see?

I'd prefer that DA3 SP game have no contact with multiplayer what so ever. Make them independant, if there is DA3 multiplayer at all. The galactic readiness tied to MP just felt manipulative, to be honest. If people want to try multiplayer, they will. Forcing them to just leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

Non-combat skills, particularly a stealth mechanic. The essence of this for me is that for me to role play seriously, I need to feel like my character is *trying* to avoid combat, whether or not (s)he is successful.

Like Shinian2 said Allan no elements in SP should be dependant on playing MP the 2 should be totally separate entities with the exception of say being able to use your SP created character in MP if a MP were to be factored into a hypothetical DA3 though i personally think that if the devs want a MP option for the Dragon Age Franchise they should go bethseada's route and release a separate MMO like Skyrim online

I probably stated this before but how about the "whos a cute puppy" type cut scenes?DA:O style,DA 2 and ME3 really dropped the ball on the dog interactions.Yes I like dogs better than people.

Unrealistic expectation.

Minimal auto-dialogue would be reasonable, but certain lines MUST happen in order to adance the plot.  Since the character is a voiced over PC it doens't exactly work the same as a silent one.

Sure, they COULD make no auto-dialogue but I'm sure it'd require a HUGE budget if you really think about how many auto-lines would be reworked to have three or more options.
