Something composed specifically for the game like "In Uthenera". I love Florence and the Machine, and while, yes it suits Varric, modern music doesn't fit in with DA outside of advertisment.

DAO had "This is War" by... 30 Seconds to Mars I think?

Personally, as far as I'm concerned once the credits start rolling there is no real need to continue the same style of music that the game had.

It's nice and all, but the game's finished so it's not required. Which isn't to say I want it all to be modern music. Rather, a mix of modern and more.... timeframe fitting music -- because really, it's all modern music. Some of it's just made to sound older -- is what I want.

And as for what song should be used for DA3's ending... well... I think songs by Charon would work well.

Unbreak, Unchain -- Charon

In Brief War -- Charon

Colder -- Charon, Colder Music Video -- Charon. I personally associate this song with Anders.

I dunno. I could list every song that J.P Leppaluoto wrote. But these are probably the three that have the most relevance in regards to the Mage-Templar War/other turmoil Thedas is facing.

It did, though (correct me if I'm wrong) it was never heard in-game, or in the credits, just in advertising campaigns.

I will break convention, and not ask for some renaisance fair type music. For some reason, I think that the mood at the end of DA3 will call for one of the following:
"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" by AC / DC or
"Enter Sandman" by Metallica

The day I finished DA:O was the day I fell in love with 30 Seconds to Mars. It played during the closing credits while tears silently fell down my cheeks. First ever videogame cry moment made perfect by the closing credit song.

So great topic, OP! Image IPB

Of course all of it really depends on the story being told in DAIII and the mood set in the final moments, but I think an excellent choice could be This is Not the End by Gungor. Something triumphant and hopeful. Image IPB

I'm really not into 30 Seconds to Mars but even I'll admit that "This is War" worked really well with the overall feel of the game.

As for what I'd like to hear playing at the end of the DA3 credits? I dunno, just something epic that makes me feel like I just totally kicked arse and had an epic adventure lol.

No modern songs please. They don't fit the setting. My copy of DAO is apparently bugged and I didn't hear This is War during the credits. I remeber my WTF teaction at getting a modern song in DA2.

@TEWR : Wow. Especially "Colder". Never heard of Charon before - such a shame.
I myself wouldn`t mind "Betrayal" by Frédéric "El Mobo" Motte :

Fred Motte : Betrayal

@ brushyourteeth : Beautiful :)

Thanks for sharing,guys.      :)

I don`t know if Inon Zur will remain at the helm of the music dept, but I`m hoping for something bittersweet - something poignant and uplifting, that sends shivers down your spine, indelibly imprinting the experience you just had.

One such piece that had this effect on me was Kenji Kawai`s score for Mamoru Oshii`s astonishing film,Avalon about people RPGing for a living,in search of their reality.

Kenji Kawai - Voyage to Avalon

Kenji Kawai - Log Off

And btw, thanks for the great topic,OP -  wonderful opportunity to literally "hear" other people`s opinions.   ;)

Two steps From Hell -Heart of Courage.
It's the type of song that works with anything "epic" IMHO.I don't know this band or artist very much , but everything i've heard is super cool for anything fantasy related.

I really enjoyed the end credit music for both games. Thought they both fit quite well and I found myself playing both of them stand alone. The Florence and the Machine one in particular just resonating so well I thought.

I want to hear Leliana singing, ending with Varic making jokes with random party members from any game.

Exactly.

I'm not a fan of tossing in licensed music for the end credits sequences. It feels cheap and tacky. If its a song thats been established in the lore and game, like In Utherna, thats cool. Or for something like A Game of Thrones, The Rains of Castamere having The National sing it.

Otherwise, have it be music from the soundtrack.

I will forever associate 'this is war' with the feeling I had when I completed dao for the first time. I immediately went to iTunes and bought It and have it in my regular playlists. Every time I hear it I am reminded how I felt at that moment in time, how in awe I was with bioware for creating the best gaming/entertainment experience I have had so far.

Who ever added that song to the credits absolutely nailed the feeling of the game for me.

So I would say 'whatever that person chooses' as my answer to the op.

And despite my repeated criticisms of bioware for DA2, this topic has once again reminded me how much you guys just blew me away with DAO.

Whatever has happened since, whether or not we are now going in different directions, and even though feelings have become hardened in the wake of later decisions, I absolutely adored DAO and I will always be grateful for the experience you crafted for me in that game. So thanks again to all of you in Bioware who were involved in DAO.

Really like the music style of the band for a medieval setting like DA.
To modern would be way of imho. Medievel settings needs medieval-y kind of music...

I really loved the opening music to DAO with the lady singing in elvish I believe. I missed that in DA2, felt like something was taken away from the world.
