Got me there.....Image IPB. Let myself get carried away there (again). Image IPB your suggestion though and it got me right back on track.

Wait...what...*scratches head*    Aaaaa...nononoonono...you were not off-topic,methinks,Gladiator has an epic main theme.
It is just Lisa Gerrard sings in it,and you mentioned medieval would suit DAO better,so...there.
Lisa Gerrard is in Dead Can Dance. So that was my connection.

*offers ice cream as consolation*    B)

Yay...Braveheart. I love that theme. <3
And thanks for the whipped cream. Now we need a dentist....where is brushyourteeth ?  <_<

But I digress. Honestly,I loved what Inon Zur did in DAO,so I hope that magic will be back in the next title.

I was expecting to hear "Destiny of Love" from the Signature Edition Soundtrack for Dragon Age 2 since it was an extended love scene theme and it would've fit perfectly with the credits...and before I actually beat the game and I was listening to the soundtrack almost daily, I assumed I would hear that.  Then when I heard florence and the machine, I was confused because 1) it wasn't on the soundtrack which was lame and 2) I never heard some of the longer cuts of the songs I expected to hear.

Even Mage Pride would've worked.  I mean, you can't tell me this song playing in the background during the credits would not have been epic.

They had Rogue Heart play and so I was even more confused when I didn't hear Destiny of Love OR Mage Pride.  More so disappointed though because I love those tracks in the OST.  :(

Bioware, please include more of the "wild" tracks that aren't played during the game.  I know there were stripped down versions of both the songs I am talking about during a bit of the credits, but I would love to hear them full force with the full orchestra behind them in DA3's credits.

DAO had "This is War" by... 30 Seconds to Mars I think?

It did, though (correct me if I'm wrong) it was never heard in-game, or in the credits, just in advertising campaigns.

The day I finished DA:O was the day I fell in love with 30 Seconds to Mars. It played during the closing credits while tears silently fell down my cheeks. First ever videogame cry moment made perfect by the closing credit song.

So great topic, OP! Image IPB

Of course all of it really depends on the story being told in DAIII and the mood set in the final moments, but I think an excellent choice could be This is Not the End by Gungor. Something triumphant and hopeful. Image IPB

I felt the same after my first play through doing an US.  I was just staring at the credits reliving everything that had been accomplished in my 80+ hours and being totally blown away with the music.

Too bad Bioware didn't allow the US to transfer over to your Awakening game or I would have stuck with that story.

Whew - good! because dental hygiene is so important. Image IPB

Not completely related to the ending music, but this song (also by Gungor - ok they're my new obsession) totally reminds me of the verses from the Chant of Light - Threnodies 5 (the song has a slow build and starts to get really epic at around the 2:00 mark)

There was no word
For heaven or for earth, for sea or sky.
All that existed was silence.
Then the Voice of the Maker rang out,
The first Word,
And His Word became all that might be:
Dream and idea, hope and fear,
Endless possibilities.
And from it made his firstborn.
And he said to them:
In My image I forge you,
To you I give dominion
Over all that exists.
By your will
May all things be done.

Then in the center of heaven
He called forth
A city with towers of gold,
streets with music for cobblestones,
And banners which flew without wind.
There, He dwelled, waiting
To see the wonders
His children would create.

The children of the Maker gathered
Before his golden throne
And sang hymns of praise unending.
But their songs
Were the songs of the cobblestones.
They shone with the golden light
Reflected from the Maker's throne.
They held forth the banners
That flew on their own.

That was fun!

I still like something modern for the credits, though. Of course I know not everyone agrees and that's cool, but there was something nice in the last two games about having modern music that still embodied the spirit of the game rouse you out of your first fevered finish of the game and back into your livingroom where you could process all the emotions the ending stirred up in you.

I think the writers and designers should get together and pick a song that they know and that they think best fits the overall theme of the game (and then see if they can get the rights to use it).

They've been right so far. I trust their judgment.

Pretty sure the credits did play that. Or at least something similar.

A-ha - so you wanted medieval, and you seem to like Lisa Gerrard....so here you go,one of the best bands in the universe. IMHO anyway:O)

Dead Can Dance - Saltarello

DCD is pretty awesome. I saw a few links for them in one of my favorite Charon songs -- truthfully, all Charon songs are my favorites Image IPB.

The song was called Death Can Dance, so it's understandable why youtube would show videos for DCD there.

I'm not a fan of tossing in licensed music for the end credits sequences. It feels cheap and tacky. If its a song thats been established in the lore and game, like In Utherna, thats cool. Or for something like A Game of Thrones, The Rains of Castamere having The National sing it.

Otherwise, have it be music from the soundtrack.

That would be utterly awesome and they've already done a tune for Portal 2. Bill Callahan would do nicely as well.

A male voice with a pensive baritone or perhaps a songstress like Kate Bush or Joanna Newsom who plays a harp.

In any case, I'd like it to be something that merges seamlessly with the overall feeling of the game. It can be current but it should feel ageless as well. DAO's pop rock was a bit out of place. DA2 did a better job but it wasn't a perfect blend.

That Game of Thrones tune simply gave me chills when it was combined with an incredible episode. That's a sign of a great closing credit song.

I guess it depends on how DA3 ends. If it's some sort of sad or bittersweet ending then a sad song would be best for the closing credits. If it's a happy ending though then some sort of epic fist pumping song would be cool.

Since DA3 is an RPG and will likely have multiple endings I'd actually like to see the closing credits song change depending on the ending you get.

 Dies Irae, of course!
Or the last movement of the New World Symphony.
Or even Brahm's Tragic Overture.
Actually, Mahler would be pretty awesome too.

I'd like something funny/creative like what Lucasarts did for Monkey Island: The Lair of the Leviathan,   or something like the cinematic playing from the Final Fantasy 8 credits,

All we need is something like a classical composition to play over the credits. So far only Origins had a decent track over the credit roll, I couldn't even watch the DA2 one, that girl sounds like a harpy from Warcraft >.<.

Although something fun over the credits would be better :D.
