So... with the squad members we have in 3... a lot of people felt a little let down... (myself included)

So, if you were in control... What squad mates would you like to have had in 3... What would be your "ideal" line up...

Hey, why not even toss in a character which isn't even a squad mate? I thought Kal'Reager would have made a rather nice substitute for Tali if she didn't survive the events in ME2...

I'll start...

01-James (I actually liked him....)
02-{New female character} I felt like I was missing something in 3... I think a new female squad member to complement James would have been a nice touch... Maybe even have her be some weird human andriod (ala Blade Runner???)
03-Liara
04-Javick
05-Ashley/ Kaiden
06-Mordin/ Weeks
07-Wrex/ Wreave
08-Garrus/ Victus
09-Tali/ Kal'Reager
10-Miranda/Orianna

I think 10 as a number was perfect...

Discuss!!!!

I assume we can only have 10 squad members, so here would be mine:

1) Kasumi (She's cool, has a great character background that's unique, she's Asian)

2) Thane (I would like a side quest that would somehow lead to a cure or being able to postpone his illness long enough to fight the reapers)

3) Grunt/Wrex (C'mon. Wrex is like, Shepard's homeboy and Grunt is just great beyond measure)
4) Tali (How else could I call her to my cabin?)  Posted Image

5) Mordin (up until you have to cure the Genophage, which would make the decision more emotional and would inevitably leave you with 9 remaining squad members and a somber blacked-out silhouette of Mordin at the selection screen)

6) Liara (DUH!)

7) Garrus (DOUBLE DUH!)

8) Jack (with her new character design and seemingly new attitude in ME3, it would be awesome to catch up with her on the Normandy; especially if she was your LI)

9) EDI (to keep the romance and story plot with Joker going)

10) Samara (I always liked her and even wanted her to be a possible LI; would also appreciated a side quest to help her protect/find her remaining daughters)

That would be my 10 favorite squad members for ME3.

Tricky really as I didn't like the direction ME3 went in anyway. I'd hoped for a game with a more independent Shep & crew who weren't with Cerberus anymore but weren't really with the Alliance either, possibly based at Liara's Shadow Broker ship, and brought back the Spectre answering to the Council side of things with the goal of gradually convincing them and the galaxy of the Reaper threat. With that there really wouldn't have needed to be a crew change from ME2 unless you wanted to have a nice tragic death for Thane and perhaps have Kolyat step in for him afterwards, kind of last favour for Thane help my son become a man/Drell thing. But Arrival kind of worked against any storyline like that and instead, we got.... what we got.

Still, the ME2 ones minus Miranda and Jacob, who I found respectively annoying and boring and were probably too Cerberus-y for the Alliance, would have suited me. Hated the thought of mobile EDI - felt like fanservice to me, and while an EDI=Normandy thing would have made it hard to write a romance between EDI and Joker it wouldn't have been impossible (like maybe he loves her for her mind, ever think of that ME3 writers? Or was it more important to give her a great rack?). Wrex returning to the Normandy would have been great but ME2 established him having moved on to bigger and better things. I think ME3 got the Wrex content about right, though since Tuchanka is one of the few highlights it would have been better if it had been twice as long and Wrex had been a playable team member. Same should have gone for Liara, really, even though I really like her. Fine, base her on the Normandy if we must, though that felt a bit forced to me, but most of the time she ought to be too busy doing Shadow Broker stuff to help you win gun fights.

It's funny, I loved pretty much everyone in 2 (Jacob was rather boring, ironically when I first played through ME2 he was only survivor of the suicide mission...)<_< That pissed me off to high heaven...

2's characters were so immersive and interesting when compared to ME1, I found ME1's squad to be mind numbingly boring (with the exception of Tali)

I agree to an extent about EDI, I felt it was a pretty cheap way to replace Miranda... (even though I actually didn't mind EDI all that much)

Oh, I liked the ME2 EDI a lot. I thought it was a nice subplot the way she (she? it?) developed once the restrictions had been lifted by Joker and how she started thinking for herself more, trying to develop a sense of humour and so on. I just thought that disembodied EDI who was kind of with on every mission over the radio was vastly better than Joker's perfect robo-woman hot bodied gynoid EDI who starts asking Femshep for sex advice. (And on that, did Cerberus really fit their Eva Coré droid body with what my wife occasionally refers to as a front bottom? What the hell for? What exactly did they anticipate it being used fo... actually I don't even want to know.) All to get Joker a love interest? Just seemed a little bit Stepford Wives In Space to me. EDI was a brilliant character in ME2 and could have been developed in ME3 as she was, brilliant AI computers forming their own personalities, morals and relations with organic crew being good sci-fi anyway.

Back on the topic of other crew I'd like, and not necessarily for missions, I thought it was a good move to give the option of Dr Michel or Dr Chakwas, though Chakwas is still my first choice. I'd like them to have kept Gabby and Ken in engineering and instead of bringing back the engineer guy from ME1 (Adams? Something like that?) bring back Pressly. Yeah, I know he's dead and unlike Shepard he doesn't have any rich quasi-legal organisations prepared to spend money bringing him back to life, but the Normandy SR1 side mission in the second game made it seem like he was having a real change of heart about aliens and it would have been interesting to speak to the guy about it. And just for the fun of franchise crossing I'd add Leoben Conoy out of Battlestar Galactica. No real reason, just another intriguing character.

Gabby and Ken can be brought back...

If they survived the Suicide Mission in Mass Effect 2, both are in custody at the beginning of the game. Shepard can free them to return to work in the Normandy's engine room by using the Spectre office in the Citadel Embassies.

Ah, well, tbh I still haven't come back from the Collector Base yet without at least half the crew having been turned into Vegemite. And I've only played a bit of ME3 on someone else's system and didn't really look too hard at that. With the game getting fairly cheap now I just wanted a bash at it to see if I felt like I was missing much and should get it now.
