Gamebanshee claims that Sophia Dryden randomly drops a "Warden Tower Shield" with identical stats to Duncan's Shield.

Warden Tower Shield
Category: Armor
Type: Shield (Heavy)
Material: Silverite (Tier 6)
Strength Modifier: 1.00
Fatigue: 6.00%
Defense: 6.00
Missile Deflection: 9.00
Installation: Warden's Keep DLC
+3 Willpower
+6 Defense
+1 Stamina Regeneration in Combat
Requires: 38 Strength

The insignia of the Grey Wardens is emblazoned on this shield, which once
belonged to Duncan. It was found in the Grey Warden cache in Denerim
and was given to Alistair as a gift.

Obtained:• Soldier's Peak (Second Floor) - Randomly found on Sophia's corpse

Judging by the description I'd say this is a bug or a non-existent item.

Has anyone found this?

It definitely exists. Got it in my last playthrough... I'm on PC, btw.

But the drop rate is just flat out terrible. On my second playthrough I've replayed Sophia's battle like 30 times and it still hasn't dropped. On my first playthrough, I had to kill her around 10 times before it dropped.

There was some thread about a week ago about a guy who tried it over a hundred times and never had it drop. I like to think of this as a happy surprise that happens once in a blue moon, and don't bother obsessing over it and reloading dozens of times if not more.

It's a great shield, though. At first I was optimistic and thought, "I'll just play this over and over until I get it."

More than 30 tries later... "maybe I'll try just a few more times"...

More than 40 tries later... "oh god. and I thought I left grinding for random drops when I let go of WoW"

I have it on all my characters but the drop rate is absolutely horrible. Some people have to try literally over 50 times to get it.

"I fought an ugly demon" ...T-shirt. That's all I got.
No seriously..there's a shield too?!
Dang! That means I'm gonna have to keep reloading to get it. :(

Yet another "F*** you, player."

A single random drop being the only way to obtain a unique item is ridiculous.

It's not meant to drop. You know how some enemies will be wearing full dragonbone armor that you don't get? This shield is meant to be like that.

Now you're telling me... But I think I wouldn't have killed her 50 times to get it.
And I won't roll back 10 hours just to get that shield.

6 times for Gaxkang was enough ... now using Fade Wall instead.

Would be nice to get that shield from the trailer though.
The "Warden Shields" bought at the smith in front of the keep aren't that nice...

Pretty glad that a dwarf noble can get the family shield at level 7 and all it takes is waddling your tiny legs over to Deneriem to chat with Gorim. For other races you have to wait for a long time to get a decent shield, but at least the tiny noble gets it early! :)

Had it drop off of her on a single kill... on a solo nightmare run on my archer rogue... so... very... angry...

Still haven't had it drop, and I've probably put in, no exaggerating, at LEAST over 200 tries killing her.

I really like to believe its out there...like the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

More than 40 tries later... "oh god. and I thought I left grinding for random drops when I let go of WoW"

so DON"T!!!!!

It won't impact your game very much having it or another decent shield you must have by now.

And for those grinding Gaxkang for Fade Wall.. if you can beat him without that shield you don't need in this game it so why bother the grinding.

I managed to get this. I was playing on the PC and after killing her 6 times I just resorted to "load -> skip all dialogue -> type code to kill all hostiles on screen". It still took me almost an hour to get it. As it has identical stats (and description) to Duncan's Shield, I just use that or Fade wall. I rarely have more than 2 SnS warriors. TBH, I don't tihnk its remotely worth the hassle. It goes well with the Warden Commander Armour, though. That's its only bonus.

Yeah that's about it. Having wasted part of my own life attempting get this shield, I feel incomplete, but am content in knowing it actually exists.

I was lucky and got it on my very first playthrough of Warden's Keep without having to replay the fight at all. Naturally no such luck on all of my later playthroughs.

When trying to get the shield, make sure to lie to Sophia in order to seal the Veil first! This way you only have to do the fight with Sophia (and not against the other demons also) until you see if the shield was dropped.

I made a little video where the shield is dropped:

Never got it. Not to Despair. It's just like the Duncan's Shield. I give it to Alistair anyway. I want DragonBone. Silverite just don't cut it in my book.

It exists. I got it after about 40 attempts.... on Nightmare... on PC. But I've also head of some people that get it on thier first or second try, so, that's odds for you!

Easiest time to get it is when you first meet her. Kill her then and there (if you don't care about making a deal) because the other instances with her are all prefaced with lenghthly cut-scenes and whatnot. It makes reloading to kill her a pain in the butt.

I got it once or twice, but find it is much easier to take Duncan's away from Alistair, and then take it to Awakening for the heraldry selection of choice.
