I don't really mind character cards as long as I'm getting a UR or a Rare gear upgrade once in awhile.

One gold (250k XP) card will get a recently promoted LV1 character to a LV8, and another will get a LV8 to a LV12, and they're at least of some use on Gold.

I never actually play with a LV20 character anymore... Having a good team that you play with regularly is key to not having to use high level chars, unless of course that's your prerogative.

I think that this makes the game more fun, when you can actually die and aren't just succeeding using tank characters.

Add me to this list.

I love playing this game. However, it is so frustrating to for a couple hours on Bronze/Silver (I'm not very good), save up enough credits and then unlock ANOTHER Krogan Sentinel. I know that getting redundant character cards is not going away, never gonna happen. It is a random store and they want you playing for as long as possible. If they took away that chance, everyone would max out, bore of the game and move on. But would it be too much to ask to at least INCREASE the odds of getting stuff you do not already have?

You need to read the whole thread before commenting.  We aren't saying to give us things we haven't maxed out.  We are saying "BioWare - Stop giving cards for maxed character".  We don't want a maxed out CC.  Give us a Gold Consumable, or some other thing if we are going to draw a maxed out CC.  It is a simple "if then" program.  Very easy.  "If maxed out CC then Gold Consumable."  See.  I just wrote the program.

If maxed out CC then a non-maxed out CC

Ah, true also.  If you haven't maxed your rares yet, why would you be trolled by maxed CCs.  That doesn't make sense.

I got a Quarian infiltrator, which I have had maxed for a while, in two PSPs. Not happy.

I like being the biggest bad a** around.  It is cool to barely ever die while wave after wave of golden monsters come after you, and they drop like flies on Raid.  If you like to have fewer powers, that is fine too.  I don't mind carrying you.  If you can stay alive for the most part, it is fine.  I will cause the damage, and you will hide.  Not a problem.  If the most intersting part of the game is to level up your characters, there is a serious problem with the game.

So for those of us that like to play with our high level characters, we should not be trolled by maxed out CCs.  We should have Consumables in place of maxed CCs.  If we haven't maxed all of our rare items, we should only recieve items we have not maxed.  Simple.

Exactly, getting a card for a maxed character is essentially a waste, as you can get xp from playing, and is an absolute waste if the character is level 20.

Ideally we would be able to pick what class we want. A pick-a-character card would be amazing, but that is never going to happen.

Today I played a little longer than usual and massed 220.000 (yeah yeah...laugh if you want, it's much for me ^^). So I bought 11 veteran packs, getting at least 4 cards for already maxed characters. :pinched:

Best part: I got one for my Salarian Infiltrator...I'm absolutely sure. Problem was he does not have a new appearance option. Still stuck at just primary- and highlight-color. :(

Damn! Please Bioware...THE DATA IS THERE. Don't pretent it's not, because the multiplayer-manifest logs the character build for each class!

I never said I played many Public games, now did I? So no, you would never have to carry me like you're saying.

I usually stick to playing Private matches where there is coordination, which doesn't make it necessary for everyone to play a LV20 character.

Anyway, it's not the most interesting part of the game. I was just saying that you can put those character cards to use instead of whining about them, that is all.

Another suggestion if they are determined to keep the maxed character cards, is to let us store up the XP gain from them to be applied once we promote the class. It's not great but at least it wouldn't be a total waste and it's better then having to promote all your characters just to make use of the XP (which is just lame IMHO).

For my own sake, I can mention that while I am not tired of the gameplay, it is in fact the store system that is killing my enjoyment, due to the lacking feeling of progress. EA/BW have actually managed to design a skinner box that is driving me away from the game, while the gameplay itself is still enjoyable. The one thing that is supposed to keep me hooked is actually the thing that is pushing me away. Good job....

THIS.

I'd have so much fun from a successful match, but once I but a spectre pack and see that 60,000 has practically just gone down the drain, frutsration quickly takes over. Couple that with knowing that soon, I won't have time to play and yet there are still other games I want to play but then there are still 3 characters that I badly want to use.

I just wish that the character cards we receive aren't completely random. Characters we don't have yet or those whose customization options we haven't completed yet should at least be prioritized.

so what do you suggest? getting ultra-rares when you have everything else?

Why not?

The MP is going to be practically dead long before most players get to that stage anyway, might as well let the small number of completionists have a reasonable chance to get all the weapons.

This is an important point. This game is not going to last forever, beyond a few thousand (hundred?) diehards (I sitll played UT 8 years later, but it was openly modded), so opening things up a bit would be nice. I don't necessarily think an UR if your chars and rares are maxed, but some sort of increased chance if they are, or sell an UR pack.

While most of us want this, we don't expect to get this.  EA will let the game die before they allow this to happen. No, the community needs to focus on an achievable goal.  No maxed CCs until all rares are maxed. Consumables if you're going to draw a maxed CC.  Also, divorce XP from CCs, that is stupid.

well I agree completely. I started a thread yesterday pleading for consumables, because you are absolutely correct: we need to focus on something simple/acheivable, like retiring maxed char cards/granting consumables, becasue significant changes to the store system are not going to happen...

2 of the 3 people I used to play with almost every night have stopped playing this game. Most of their reason was the store system. And my friends list is almost always full of people who used to play with me on random occasions..... who don't play anymore because of the exact same problem. They basically said, "I'm sick of wasting my time, or money on a broken system that shows very little reward. Come play (X-game) with me." Literally, almost verbatim, with at least 20 people...... that tells me it's broken.

I HATE it myself, and so does my husband who plays on his xbox. Both of us REFUSE to spend one single penny out of our pockets on the store. We discussed this about a week ago, and how frustrated we both are with this part of the game. We would probably spend about $10 a month, or so, if it ever got changed, or "fixed" in our eyes. We budget ourselves "fun money" for silly little things like this, and there is NO WAY we would waste it on the store system the way it is now. Would be better off going to the local casino, and flushing it down the machines there. In my eyes, the store is broken, and needs fixed, and the most annoying thing ever is getting soooooo many repeat character cards for characters that are maxed out XP and have all appearances, when you could get ANYTHING other than said waste of time character card.

Bioware should've known that this was going to be a problem long before the game was released. A lot of people simply aren't going to promote their characters just to increase a stupid number next to their name. It should've been coded to know if you have characters that aren't level 20. Instead they just slopped the RNG system together and shipped it.

If you only allow players to unlock stuff they don't have, then what is there to work towards once you have everything? You will be earning all these credits and the only thing worth spending them on will be the Jumbo Equipment pack which you will eventually max all that equipment out. Then you buy one of those after every game and assuming you are playing gold, that still leaves you ~40,000 credits left after each match. If you don't like getting character cards, then promote your character and level him back up. Try completing gold with a level 1 character (there is something that takes a little skill and some tactics to achieve)

We don't care about a stupid number next to our name!!!  Free XP is stupid.  I don't play this game so that I can brag to my friends about how high my N7 rating is!  Consumables is something.  A number that no one cares about, including the owner of the number is still NOTHING.

Anything is better than the hopelessly broken system in place now, but XP is the answer?  Really?  Perhaps there should be a poll that asks about XP vs Consumables vs Leave as Is or something.  Not going to make it now.

Your idea is based on the false premise that we care about our N7 rating.  It is a useless number that has absolutely no bearing on gameplay whatsoever.  Therefore, getting a maxed CC for a non-maxed class is still getting nothing.  I will not pay real money for nothing.  N7 score is nothing.

You are confusing a character's level with their customization options.  I am not talking about wasting the experience that comes with the card if a character is at 20, I am talking about getting a card for a character that has all customization options when I haven't even unlocked day-one characters.

I am also disappointed that there has been no word on this from anyone at BioWare. Not a "we are considering alternatives" or even "we recognize your complaints." I feel like this thread has been fairly constructive and has some good ideas. The store system is driving people away from the game.

In response to what I bolded... Gear? Consumables? New character cards and weapons from future DLC packs?
