I am also disappointed that there has been no word on this from anyone at BioWare. Not a "we are considering alternatives" or even "we recognize your complaints." I feel like this thread has been fairly constructive and has some good ideas. The store system is driving people away from the game.

There have been posts, and polls, and complaints since the first 2 weeks of game release about the current system, and I have yet to see anyone from Bioware respond to any of them except to add more XP to the crap cards.

If you only allow players to unlock stuff they don't have, then what is there to work towards once you have everything? You will be earning all these credits and the only thing worth spending them on will be the Jumbo Equipment pack which you will eventually max all that equipment out. Then you buy one of those after every game and assuming you are playing gold, that still leaves you ~40,000 credits left after each match. If you don't like getting character cards, then promote your character and level him back up. Try completing gold with a level 1 character (there is something that takes a little skill and some tactics to achieve)

In response to what I bolded... Gear? Consumables? New character cards and weapons from future DLC packs?

Exactly.  Also, there are still customization options to work for and weapons.  People still play the game after unlocking everything for, and this is going to sound crazy, fun.  I know that if I had all of the characters and weapons I would still be playing.  The gameplay is genuinely fun, but the store is agrivating.

Yes.  That is exactly the problem.  This is clearly a broken system, and adding more XP to the cards does nothing.  It is actually kind of insulting that they think this is a solution.

Imo, a good soultion would be, that it starts giving you equipment (missiles, medi-gel, ammo, weapon and armor consumables, etc...) istead of character cards, once you lvl-ed your class to 20 and unlocked all customization options.

This would give us a guaranteed way of unlocking all the classes and weapons if we spend enough money. I don't see what's wrong with that.

In the current system, you could spend infinity credits/dollars and never get certain things. That is fundamentally bad design.

Agreed on your last. I can look past all the bugs, and glitches, and whatnot. The disconnects, all of it, and still enjoy the game. The only thing that REALLY REALLY annoys me is wasted character cards. Freaking drives me nuts!

i think that is the reason we have not seen a change.  THere may be people at BioWare who want to improve the system, but if it is a cash cow for EA we are unlikely to see improvements, even though it would drastically improve the game

Consider yourself lucky if you are working on your ultra rares.  I haven't gotten all of the rare characters.  My favorite from the demo was SI, and I still don't have him.  That was a day-one character.  I don't mind not having DLC characters, even though some look awesome, but to still not get a day-one character isn't right.

Just adding my vote...

Please stop giving character cards that are already maxed out... It is... Annoying...

You don't continue to give weapon cards that are maxed out, and it is frusterating to get character cards that are already maxed when you don't get a chance to play all that often...

When you don't get to play that often and still get random crap that's really bad mate.

I, like countless others, have been thinking of this idea as well. I'm sick of getting nothing for a level 20 with all the skin tone, lights, bells and whistles that I already unlocked.
There is all kinds of new gear available I'd like to funnel my cards into. I'd rather have those or even tier III equipment. I'm not expecting Ultra-Rares obviously.

Or maybe give a multiplayer incentive for promoting aside from War Assets or N7 Rating bragging rights which really has no substantial benefit. It's not a measure of skill or match success.

Someone who has an N7 Rating of 2000 could have the same skill as someone with an N7 rank of 20 who's been playing one class since day one. Unlikely, I know, and kind of boring to be honest, but it's the concept.

It's frustrating. I love Turians, but honestly I've gotten the Sentinel four times after full customization. I have gotten the Quarian Infiltrator nine times after full customization, and the Asari Vanguard eight. Of course my two least favorite species and class (Vanguard) are the ones I get the most >_>

I've wanted a Geth Engineer since day one (even though the DLC didn't come out yet xD) and I still haven't gotten it even once.

It happens alot.  While I am usually on top, I do see some very low N7 people (a 14 once who I almost kicked) beat the higher N7s in my group quite often.  Which is why N7 doesn't mean diddly squat.  Either make the N7 mean something substantial and interesting, or give us something else when we are going to be trolled by a maxed out CC!

it ruins the purpose of ultra-rares

How?

It won't mean that most players will get more of them. The only ones who will see more ultra-rares are the ones who already have practically everything. And those are a so tiny minority that it doesn't really matter.

Dumped a total of 5.2 million after the DLC, got all the characters (finally) but still need the harrier (and its upgrades) along with ultra rare upgrades.

I spend double digit hours daily on this.

But the amount of character upgrades i got for things such as Human Soldier, Asari Adept etc was over kill.

Just dumped 650,000 yesterday, got nothing but the grenade gear 1.

The N7 to me just indicates, that you played a lot and promoted a lot.

I like to promote, choose different power routes in the tree and use different weapons and mess around till i find what I like to have.

PS: I am N7 2900

so what do you suggest? getting ultra-rares when you have everything else?

Yes. Who cares? If the loot wasn't random, maybe ultra-rare would mean something, be an indication of skill. As it stands, they are not. Just cause I'm lucky, I droped half a dozen UR in a couple days, while some people have been farming them for ever.

And even then, they can't really compete with maxed regular weapons.

So yeah, get rid of multiple character cards, and if someone unlocked everything (which should take a hell of a lot of time that not many people have), let him have UR if he wants to keep playing.

Then who is the most dedicated greg? The guy that has 20 hours of play time? Pleae explain how they are more dedicated than someone with 100 hours. Then explain what your definition of dedicated is.

Dedication to me would mean the people who play a lot for the fun of it, who take active part in lively discussions aimed at improving the game. People who have perhaps spent some money on the game out of appreciation. That basically means people like you and me. People like us, who have not unlocked everything would probably not mind if there actually was a chance to max out URs with having to grind senslessly for it.

I would not say spending a lot of money on this game would make you dedicated. I have a friend who spent a few hundred euros on the game for the weapons and played all the time. Then he disappeared when Diablo3 came out. Is he dedicated? (he is back now, which makes me very happy, as he is a nice guy and an unbelievably good player)

Promoting just to make use of the gold char cards is not a option for me. I stopped at N7 750 and I like this round number. If I want to promote and gain XP I will just play the game and get the XP I need in the regular way.
The gold char cards should be the same way the weapons card are: once you unlocked everything, you should not get them anymore.
Instead they should add Gold Consumables (Ammo/Armor/Weapon) that should give something like 5 x Tier III consumable.
The Ultra Rare/Promotional Weapons cards should stay as they are (No, I don't have all of them unlocked or maxed but I'm ok with it).

I have over 1,100 war assets just from promoting characters (that should give you some idea of how dedicated/not dedicated I am) and I STILL don't have a Drell Vanguard. And yet, when I buy a SP or PSP, I keep getting characters that I already have maxed out or for a class that I've maxed out. The store does seem to be a little out of whack. I will say this for EA though, I'm no more likely to get something good in a pack that I bought with real money than one that I bought with in-game credits.

Poll results suggest they would make more money with a consumer friendly system.

Who cares?

You (and BW/EA) have to think within the expected lifespan of the game. Within that life span, the majority of players are never going to reach the level where they unlock everything. Players unlocking everything is not the thing that will cause MP to die off (at least to the point where revenue from microtransactions becomes negligible), because the majority of players will grow bored with it long before they ever reach that point. BW knows this, so their focus needs to be to keep player numbers up for as long as possible.

I postulate that making the higher-level rewards seem attainable will keep more players around than they will lose from players maxing out everything.
