My definition of skill is usually me.

If someone can get within 35k of my score without using rockets on wave 11 then they have some decent skills.

Sure it sounds arrogant, but it is true... so many people are like 85k behind me.

Come to PC and leave that Xbox, PC is where the real players are B)

If I had something better than this craptop I would...

Unfortunately my Alien PC is about 5 years away a this point... my current income is a whopping $350 a year! (Birthdays!)

This game isn't about sheer hand eye coordination skill, this game is more about decision making, because it's already easy to aim. Decision making and thinking ahead based on what's going on.

Having a solid team also helps lol. I cant help but smile when I enter a lobby of N7 's over 1000. I say "oh yea we are gonna tear this up'

On the other side, if I enter a lobby with all N7 20's and below, I say "le sigh"

It seems that unit need an update.

But I am in the same......... In my case I need an update too, I play with a Pentium D @2.66 GHz with 4GB ram.

Pc affect my gameplay?, yes, most of the time when there's a lot of people and enemies, for that reason I play a lot of solos, because the game runs so smoothly ..........:D

The capacity to do something well stemming from one's knowledge, training, or aptitude.

Not dying the first round like I did the other night, I thought I was Rambo.

Everybody has their rambo moments every now and then.

I had one earlier this afternoon...I was pressed for time and wanted to knock out a quick bronze match on my level 20 TSo...was on Firebase Reactor, and I was rocking the Phaeston like it was my job:

On three separate occasions I stumbled into a group of enemies right at the beginning of the wave when they were all bunched together, popped marksman, and rattled of 6-7 kills via headshots before I even used up one magazine.

On wave 11, I managed to find myself in the perfect spot to overlook all the enemies (Cerberus) as they bum-rushed my teammates in the extraction zone...it was a gory mess of headshots, I lost track of how many kills I got, but I got both the 50 and 75 kill medals in wave 11. Know how it feels in CoD or BF3 (which I haven't played since ME3 came out) to aim through a sniper scope and see more enemies than you have bullets, all laid out in front of you ripe for the picking? That's how I felt. Except my ammo was full, capped at 411 rounds...so I was good to go

More of a Gears and Halo guy myself, but
I know that feel bro

For me, it's more about the simple ability to kill things effectively with your team, not die, and realise when tech/biotic comboes are being set up, and detonating them.

Simplistic, but the way it is.

How someone moves
How someone acts in accordance to their team
How someone applies their weapons
How someone uses his abilitys

If these skills are given then i only hope someone also knows how to aim and survive

If someone does not know those, they may have great aim and all but i consider them n00bs, because a nap might know how to shoot, but very few know how to move around and with their team

In teaching my bf how to play (hes a total newb) i started with teaching him how to move first, then to remember his controls, and last how to shoot and move, the rest is just training in hand eye coordination and training muscle memory

I agree with you up to a point...seeing the pyro in front, the prime around the corner, and the hunter flanking you is meaningless if you don't have the necessary skills to deal with them. The player that screams "omg here they come!" and gets bent over the kitchen counter is vastly different from the player that staggers the hunter, headshots the pyro, kills the hunter, then kites away and kills the prime, afterward saying "there were a few of them there guys, but I took care of them, nbd."

I never could push myself to do solo. Not even on bronze.
I always think: "It is a co-op game, why should I even want to be able to solo it?"

Cause many players consider soloing as the pinnacle of skill in this game, but is that the only factor in skill?

As others already said, soloing is another skill.
And while it does says something about the player skill and definitely is impressive, for me it is about as telling as N7/Weapon layout. Nothing more than an indicator.

A player whom can solo gold might just be a Rambo, getting you and the others killed while he solo's wave after wave. On the other hand, great team players might not be great shots, but if they manage to keep a flank tied up they are still good in my book. Unfortunately I don't think there are any reliable indicators, other then seeing how they play with you.

Your survivability, paying attention to your surroundings, being able to hold your own with the odds stacked against you.
Though soloing gold is anice feeling, it doesnt really seem as intense as playing with multiple people. The waves feel like they are made for 1 player, and not a crazy gong show.

In my opinion, skill = being able to use the class you're playing to it's full potential (or at least well enough to contribute to the team/etc)

For example, I am NOT skilled at using a vorcha or vanguard. Close range is not my thing lol

hmm...soloing on gold? i dunno man....i give mad props to anyone that can solo on gold...BUT some classes arent made for soloing (effectively anyways)...so someone that prefers NOT to play as one of those SOLOable classes is S.O.L.

Skill in this game.....knowing what to do and when to do....and are able to execute proficiently! Able to work AS a team....and not playing Rambo. If you are in a public match...YOU SHOULD NOT BE TRYING TO SOLO. do that in private.

Ahhh hem. Really?Image IPB

I am still trying to figure out how that adept outscored both us, going down like 20 times a match. Got myself 10 revives on Reactor alone.

My definition is failry straight forward I guess.  Skill is having the ability to make sure your squad gets extracted, no matter the mission, no matter the lobby, while being willing to do whatever it takes to get it done.
