 I have unlocked the Mattock a couple of days ago. Presently at level-2. Started playing with this weapon with the Battlefield 3 soldier class on gold matches and I was really impressed. I felt that this weapon perfectly suits the Soldier class. I am really looking forward to level it up to X. 

Haven't unlocked the Harrier yet! So, I do not know how better it is than Mattock. But, I am really liking the Mattock! :)Please share your experiences as well !!

The mattock is one of the few AR's that isn't terrible. It is probably the second favorite one I have right now behind the Saber.

Yes, presently focused to upgrade all my uncommons. Then will lookout for The Harrier! Heard that its a beast!

Yeah, the Mattock and Saber don't completely suck. But the ARs could still use an across the board buff.

Only downside is the amount of click-spamming involved. Harrier gets rid of that.

It's a good start, but when you get the harrier it gonna rock your world.

my mattock is my favorite ar. I love her and take her everywhere with me. She's currently nine, but I'm hoping she'll be 10 soon.

Congrats, OP. The Mattock is actually pretty good. And good luck with a speedy upgrade to X.

The Saber is another assault rifle that you might like. Although, it's kind of meh when you get it, it starts to shine when you get it up to level III or IV. It's an ultra-rare so levelling it to that is another challenge in itself.

It's the only Silver (Uncommon) weapon that I use. I usually put AP and the EB on it too. I do appreciate it for sure....

I don't get how people can use it.. I find it the most boring weapon... It just feels like a weak pistol. spam spam on the trigger, until the mob eventually succumbs to the tickeling.

I remember giving it an honest try on gold the other day, with an asari justicar, and in wave 2, I just wanted it to eeeend.. so tedious.

I'd rather use Predator then Mattock., I'd probably be more useful as well.

Initially, i too felt the same way!! Later when i started learning how to use it effectively, then it was pretty fun!!

I feel mattock and phanlx are more or less the same thing just different classification of weapons.

I've been trying to like the Mattock but idk. I think I will put it on my Human Soldier and try it with him until I unlock the Harrier (who knows when that will be). I got 4 N7 drops yesterday (not complaining) but man was I looking for one of those to be the Harrier, no luck tho. Now I have to save up more credits again.

I find it easier to use it as a longer-range DMR with a scope than as a close-quarters AR like the Avenger or Phaeston.

Mattock is a nice AR, one of the best. It has a high DPS (even thoug I suppose a human user won't achieve its full rate of fire)
You can even use the Mattock as a mini-sniper. it's high recoil will reduce greately the number of hits without a scope. ( since it's a semiautomatic gun you may feel it's recoil is lower than Rrevenant but it's not. Revenant has a greater muzzle climb.)

Personally I can think about better weapons for Gold, AR are not considered the best weapons in ME3.

Harrier is truly amazing, though. Just two limitations: Ultra Rare status and the clips count.
