If by "end well" you mean "end in a tedious religious argument" then, well, let's hope not. I have a bit more faith in the forumites here to not let it down that road. After all, I am only just asking if they don't believe in a religion. As long as nobody diverges from that question...

Best of luck to this thread, though. It's gonna need it.

That's basically being Agnostic.
I for one don't care about the debate. All should get along and not be against others with wrath.
But I usually do say I'm agnostic myself.

I think you misunderstand what "agnostic" and "atheist" mean. You can be an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist, but you either believe in gods, or you don't. "I don't know" is fine, but your beliefs are what is being evaluated, not your knowledge. Agnostic is an adjective that describes your perception of your KNOWLEDGE or lack thereof, not your BELIEF, or lack thereof. So you've got four options:
Gnostic Theist = You believe in gods, and you feel that you have evidence to support the belief (yes, some people think religious scripture is "evidence").
Agnostic Theist = You believe in gods, though you don't necessarily think you have evidence to back it up.
Gnostic Atheist = You don't believe in gods, and you feel the evidence is 100% incontrovertible to support your lack of belief.
Agnostic Atheist = You don't believe in gods, but you don't think the evidence is 100%, that there is some room for a non-atheist reality (usually pantheism or deism is the alternative allowed, rather than theism).
And just to throw another monkey wrench into the works, there's more than just atheism and theism. Pantheism is the belief that the Universe IS "god" or whatever, and deism is the belief that there are gods, they are simply unaware of us or apathetic toward us and don't intervene in human affairs at all. Theism specifically refers to the belief in gods that listen to humans and intervene on their behalf in certain situations.

Pure Agnostic BTW, Nobody knows... Only the dead.
You can't exist in a pure state of belief/nonbelief. Either you believe or you don't. It sounds like you don't. In which case you're an agnostic atheist. It sounds like you're skirting the edges of Pascal's Wager, and Pascal's Wager is "facile", as Gregory House would say. After all, "maybe" implies that you ought to worship/support gods "just in case". Well, "maybe" witches and wizards and unicorns are real too, and one ought to do what one can to ensure ones protection from them. After all, there's just as much "evidence" to support those supernatural entities as there is to support the existence of gods. That is to say, none.
To me, if something cannot be proven to exist by direct or indirect observation, then my default position on that matter is "it doesn't exist".
