They built a hidden door and didn't realize the ladder gave it away.

Because there's no such thing as too many Ghostbusters references.

para llegar al cielo se necesita una escalera muy larga!
Una escalera muy larga y otra chiquita...
Y arriba y arriba!

Perhaps the ladder is designed to bring us back up?

And one leading...nowhere...just for show........

I have an explanation, formulated after much thought and speculation.

This ladder, as you see it, is not a ladder at all.

It is, in fact, a mirror image of the ladder that is actually beneath the character in that picture.

You see, mirrors are everywhere in mass effect. They pop up at the most random of places, and are usually accompanied by smoke.

Image IPB

Here, you see a company with mirrors but without the benefit of smoke. The deception is easily seen through and revealed.

Image IPB

Here, we see smoke, though the man immediately requires the usage of a mirror, for one is not complete without the other.

But, with both smoke and mirrors...

Image IPB

You find ladders and plotholes and every sort of Bioware tastrophe (that's the opposite of catastrophe).

In conclusion, the ladder leads to smoke, mirrors, explosions, and, most importantly, completion.

You're all wrong...that ladder obviously goes anywhere you want in the first 27 dimensions of space. It is strictly regulated though, and nobody has permission to use it, so it is disabled. Even if you have a permit, it would be so horrendously complex that critical failures would stop you from using it...just like our standard ladders that you use or attempt to use daily.

This map can be a lot bigger. FBW is only a small section of it. Hopefully Bioware will extend this map.

I think since everyone is excited about this one question, the servers could be overloaded when we release details on all of the mysteries we've discovered since this one. (Map Explorations still ongoing)

All this ladder talk is giving me flashbacks to Metal Gear Solid 3. *shudders*

Never played MGS3 so missing out on the joke here.:?

Nearly 3 quarters of the way through the game after beating a certain boss, you had to climb this ladder in a tunnel up the mountainside. The whole time through the games main theme starts playing and it's a freaking long lader. All the while Snakes stamina bar is slowly draining. Some even jokingly refer to it as a boss fight itself.

But hey, show, don't tell.

It was such a epic moment, like a rite of passage lol
