I won ;)
May the force be with me again!

Only 10 points for me? I thought I would get 30

Only one person has gone for a Greek victory.

So we can change our predictions up until the corresponding match starts in this round? I was going to change one of mine but feared it looking fishy if I did it at this point. I'm tempted to go for a Croatia 1-0 win.

Lewandowski to score two tonight. You heard it here.

For this round, and only this round, you can change them since it is so last minute but if you do please use the use the entire form so I can clearly see what your difinitive predictions are

The first match has officially ended in an 1-1 draw meaning full points for Imperial Sentinel Arian, OBakaSama and half points for JRCHOharry

The first half was entirely for Poland, they were way better and should have closed the deal right there and then, especially after the red card but with some good subs Greece got their act together. Papodopolous (the 2nd one) really closed up the defence and with Poland easing they just had to score a penalty, against Tyton (really the only reason he was brought into the field was because he is a penalty-killer, he is booked as the 3rd keeper)

It was a good match, next one should be much better theoretically.

So have Poland's goalkeeper done a good job with that expulsion from the field and missing next game?

"Sir Chesney" was what I kept hearing from the commentators on the BBC. Maybe I'll just stick to Steve as we've been accustomed to on the usual thread....anyway....a couple of bad judgements by him and it could have got a lot worse for Poland. Greece sensed they could pull off a win it seems with their last substitution. Felt there was a lot of interruptions in the game though.

So, Kimo, any idea which of those animals made a good prediction?

Steve was a disgrace tonight, he cost his team 2 points and it could have been 3. Saying that though Poland seemed to completely lose the ability to attack in the second half, they kept giving the ball away and looking very unassured in the final third.

I'll not bother changing my prediction to avoid confusion.

That sort of performance by Steve reminds me of the massive loss of form for Petr Cech. Could Arsenal suffer for it when the domestic season starts up again?

Next game is on.

Bloody hell, Sky Bet really fancy Roman Pavlyuchenko. He's 1/100 to score the next goal, you'd have to bet £100 to get £1 back.

Pretty much everyone missed that one.. only Merci and stysiaq had a Russian win

I am surprised with the quality of play from the Russians, they did a really good job agains Italy in the friendly matches but I hadn't expect them to be this good. There wasn't a moment where the Russian players didn't move and the switch from defense to attact was really fast,  everytime they immediately had 4-5 playes in front of the Czech goal. The only reason that the Czech Republic managed to stay close to the Russians was because Kerzhakov missed every chance he got.

And that kick by, I think it was Gebre Selassie, everybody here immediatly said: Marco van Basten, 1988 against Russia:happy:

Webb once again showed himself to be a lowsy referee, you can't solve all problems by talking to the players, sometimes you have to give a card.. He was lucky that this was a fairly calm match but I have no idea why the UEFA got him as a ref for the EC..

Apparently the hog predicted an win for Poland and Russia, the ferret two draws and the elephant a win for Poland and nothing for the Russian/Czech match so between them they got everything right..

That was a shocker....blimey. Certainly does seem most of us underestimated the Russians for that game.

And it seems we have no real heir to the octopus thus far then.

EDIT: oh, and Druss, the Pavlyuchenko love-in might be because of his association with The Iron Gerbil.... Crazy thought but I'm sticking with it.

Well, even that octopus was wrong in Euro 2008.

It said Germany will defeat Croatia.
Welp, Croatia won 2:1.

So I guess we should just wait for them to try on World Cup 2014 instead.
It probably only works in World Cups.

Some poor refereeing, shoddy defending, awful goalkeeping and inspired attacking all combined to make a pretty good opening day. Looks like that group will be a battle to finish second to Russia. Poland looked impressive for the first 30 minutes or so and then faded. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

4-1?

Impressive, most impressive. I like the Russian style.

I was too tired to watch the second half. I completely forgot that Czech has lost lots of its old players and Russia has become very strong. At least I know what to predict in next rounds.

1st Half done.

Netherland 0 - 1 Denmark

But still, it has being pure luck because denmark has really being crap at not throwing ball over to a netherland player instead of our owns. Netherlands have had way too many chances againts us tbh aswell.
In 2nd half we better up our defense, or Netherlands will eventually score

I remember when Robben was an excellent left winger. The last couple of times I've seen him he's been on the right and looked an absolute joke of a player.

Could Dutch players send a successful pass around penalty area? I don't want to talk about shooting.

To be fair, Robben had a stellar 2010 season at Bayern while playing on the right wing. However, the last year he's just a shadow of those days - like he played today. I'm curious, though, he played left winger during his stint at Chelsea?

Still, Netherlands had so many good chances, should have been at least a draw.

From what I recall, Robben and Duff regularly swapped wings when at Chelsea. It was a few years ago and maybe my memory is hazy, but I remember him tearing down the left and whipping crosses in, I don't remember him cutting in from the right almost every single time he got the ball and shooting over.

I would also have thought that Robben on the right would have made him somewhat predictable as he would need to cut in to take a shot with his left foot....

Well, that was awesome ;_; I'm ignorant when it comes to football, but I facepalmed every time Robben had the ball.

Has anyone else noticed Two Steps From Hell - Heart Of Courage (ME2 trailer music) playing whenever the players enter the field? :D
