Whoa, here I went solo bronze 3 times and just died flat out everytime, once at 6 and twice at 3, so I'd be really curious to hear how it can be done. Now, I got Reapers twice, so that may have had something with it and the other thing is that maybe Engineer/Infiltrator is the best class to go solo with?

It's all about money. There's no real challenge in this game aside from overcoming the lag. All higher difficulties do is force you to shoot enemies longer. That's it. It's not some monumental achievement to beat, it just takes more time and bullets/powers. It all comes down to the amount of money you want to get for the time you're playing. If you want the best gear, then you'll need to play Silver and Gold to get that gear. If all you're doing is playing to keep that ridiculous Galaxy at War screen between 100-95, then just play Bronze.

Spot on, play gold in shorter time to get the best loot or play silver for longer and play catch up. Also if your a good player, gold is for you anyway although your still reliant on a decent team. Also to improve your chances you need to use every weapon mod, items, ammo type, weapon amps etc.

I had this one guy the other day on a gold map telling me if I had a rocket launcher, I should use it. The other 2 kept on dying and it was only currently wave 3 hack now, just me and this guy left. I obviously knew we were going to get wiped out so why waste a rocket when there was still more enemies surrounding us? It was also the new goddess map. He was a good player but the fact he was playing a cerberus human vanguard didnt help either & didn't like the way he felt he could order me around. If he felt the need to use a rocket, why didnt he use it? He didn't mention he was empty so more likely he felt cheap using it. Elitists.

Also dont like the idea of wasting consumables, ammo, weapons amps etc, when you know its going to end in failure. Majority of the games on gold end up in failure especially with randoms.
Don't have credits to burn buying back what ive lost which is my other point. Why not play silver, build up you items and use sparingly or far less? Also you want a challenge, dont use them and go bare on silver?

I'll full pug gold once in a great while, but mostly,
only go into gold games if I'm going in with at
least 1 other player that I know is a strong team
player. So mostly silver. Even with a terrible
group, 1 strong player makes enough of a
difference on silver that we can usually have
a good time and win.

That's not true as often on gold.

- The people who play it. Although this has changed recently, when I did make the jump to gold-standard from silver I thought most gold games were actually easier than the silver games! At that time Silver was populated with to many players who just got out of bronze and they made Silver hard as hell while gold was almost exclusively really good players or really easy to notice bad players.
This has changed but I still have that feeling from when I went up to gold.

I'm playing gold more often lately because of exactly this.  On Silver, everyone can kinda freelance and you can pick up a lot of bad habits.  The more all that happens at once, the harder silver matches actually become.  On Gold, everyone's kinda forced to play smarter, and I think the players I'm running into on random gold games are a better match for gold than the randoms on silver are, if that makes sense.

The payout shifts from a month or so ago are a big help, too; as long as we clear wave 6 on gold, we get more than a full silver match.  That lowers the frustration of wasting your time on gold only to wipe on wave 9.  Yeah, it would have been to get a 70k+ credits, but if I'm walking away with 37k, I'm not sweating it.

I'm simply not good enough for gold, and I can handle silver, but it can get hectic quickly if I don't find good randoms, and none of my friends are on the pc. So I stick to bronze mostly.

I've never played a multiplayer game before. I'm learning everything at one go. How to work with a team, how to play the various classes effectively, what loadouts work for my style of play. I still remember the day I first finished a bronze match. I was really proud of that.
I only get about 7 hours a week of game time, so I'm not going to progress very fast. I'm only now beginning to finish silver matches (with out being carried) on a regular basis. The only time I've finished a gold match was when it was required for a challenge, with my strongest build, on FBWGG, while being talked through it the whole time by my husband.
So I'm not going near a gold match until I feel I can actually be a team player and not someone who's being dragged along.

I still think there should be a fourth difficulty (Platinum), which will be a little bit harder than Gold - then you just readjust Bronze, Silver and Gold.

I play on all three, mainly silver but I'll go up if I want a challenge and down to test new classes and builds. Gold groups suck, dragging some elitist clowns through a match, massively outscoring them and using all my expendables to drag their pompous, self-delusional butts through goals they won't help with because they are too busy trying to run up their scores or being dead. On silver, I only need one other person to be vaguely competent so it's low stress and I don't burn expendables at the anywhere near the same rate.

Credits.

Once you start clearing gold without problems, it's hard to convince yourself to go down a skill level.

You make half the credits, but you only save a couple minutes.

PUG - Silver
Friends List team - Gold

Wipe more often on Silver with PUG's than I do with Friends on Gold.

I mostly play on silver. The gold matches I've played always take much longer than a silver, and the % of actually finishing wave 10 is much lower. Overall, I feel like I will get more credits from pubbing silver matches.

My PC struggles with ME3 (but it is fun nonetheless). This significantly hinders my reaction time, especially when my shields go down and health gets low, at which point the hitching and framerate become so bad I usually end up dead on the spot. This makes Gold not even a viable option for me (besides FBWGG which isn't fun at all), but Silver is at about the right challenge level.

By now I'd probably be about good enough to start trying Gold matches, but it's just not doable with my struggling PC. Besides the slow credits, I'm happy with Silver.

Spot on. I've done it twice with my Geth Engineer, once with my Quarian Male Infiltrator. You just have to careful with the objectives. Try to lead all the enemies away from them, then double back at full speed to get them done. You'll have a turret to throw down with caps and to help you out with circle hacks and the time is much faster alone. Infiltrators... just cloak and cap.

For a while I played Bronze only due to wanting to get better with powers, weapons, and tactics. Once I felt Bronze was becoming easy, moved to Silver.

Played Silver for a while, and now play mostly Gold. Playing Gold for the most part for creds for PSP/Jumbo Packs.

I don't usually play Bronze or Silver anymore unless I promote, which will now only happen if there is a weekend event (otherwise promoting seems pointless - respec cards are the shiznit).

i predominately play bronzes just to toy around with different class and weapon specs. as the game has "slowed down' for me and become easier, i've started doing more silvers with the classes i am most comfortable and effective with.

once silver "slows down" like bronze did, and i'm having an easier time i'll move up to gold.

part of the delay in stepping up stems from challenge, part from wanting to be a viable contributing member (rather than a bullet sponge in constant need of rezzing) , and part because i just don't want to deal with the frustration of harder encounters paired with people who simply aren't ready.

Lower difficulty is too easy. even gold is too easy sometimes. i haven't player bronze since the demo, then silver for a couple of weeks after the game came out. then gold, gold, gold.

My manifest is filling out pretty rapidly, and I'm not in a rush to worry about ultra-rares and complaining about character cards.  Credits aren't that important to me any longer.  My N7 rank is over 1,000 so I'll probably slow down my promoting.  Experience points aren't that important to me any longer.  I find myself playing more silver, especially with randoms, so I don't have to rely on my team as much.

Plus, in Silver I can try more varied builds and not drag the team down.  I still play Gold, too.  Proably a 60/40 mix now.

As for elitism, it's needed. I don't really understand the disdain for it. Haven't people noticed that elitists tend to have the most weapons, the most consumables, the best gear? There's a correlation between elitism and success. The ends justify the means.

Elite people don't care about weapon X number, N7, amount of consumables or any of that meaningless stuff and they don't feel the need to brag. They let thier playing do the talking.

Whereas "Elitists" are distinctly average players who think having a Carnifex X and 2000 N7 means they are good.... and when you play a match with them you realise how much they fail. Elitists are the least "Elite" people out there.

As for which one I play, either Gold or Silver. Depending on how much time I have, or how much time I think i'll have before get interrupted irl.

Some elitists are that way. And they're still above average. To use a rl example you could say Muhammad
Ali was an Elitist. All he did was talk down to his opponents, brag about being the greatest and THEN he backed it up in the ring. Some elistists are wannabes and delusional scrubs. But most of the time in my experience they're not. The ones that are get called out and it's a simple matter of kicking them from the group.

The silent elite are a special bunch. Very rare players. But you're spot on about them. I'm talking about the guys soloing gold reapers with a predator X.

I play silver mostly, but have been play gold more since the rebellion dlc came out.  Why?  The credits.

Silver is just the right balance IMO of enjoyment and risk, and I would play that all day if having fun was all that I played for.

I hate to say it but BW has me hooked.  Gold is the only way to make decent money in a reasonable amount of time.  I mean I would have to do 3 silvers to get one PSP, which totals about 1 hour.  Compared to gold where I only need 1.5 runs to have enough.  You add that up and its just not worth it.  The risk to reward is just that much better.  Hell even if you just finish wave 6 on gold you'd make the same as if you finished wave 10 on silver.

i play gold because its all i played since i started and when i drop to silver or bronze i feel its too easy and for the same time i could be earning double or tripple the credits.

i dont get to play everyday i average 2 hours a day tops over the week so i like to make them count and get 4 to 6 gold games in. 6 if we do cerb glacier 4 if we play random random which is what i prefer :D

I've never tried Gold because of 2 reasons.

First off, I'm afraid I'll just be kicked and that it's a waste of time. My N7 rating is still below 100 and judging from this forum, the class "Human Infiltrator" (my class of choice) didn't seem that popular.

Secondly, I've never felt that I'm good enough to play Gold yet. I haven't found a weapon- and power-setup that I think is ready for the best challenges yet. With my Mantis, I almost always finished in 4th place. But when I got my Viper, I started to finish in 2nd or 3rd place. I love the Viper as I can really slaughter the enemy grunts from afar, even on Silver. Unfortunately, according to some players the Viper is nothing more than a mosquito on Gold and a more hard-hitting weapon is favored. I don't have a Widow/Black Widow/Valiant, the only other sniper rifle I have in my possession and understand is the Mantis. And even though I can pull of cloak-power-cycles and reload canceling, I've always felt more comfortable with my Viper.

In the beginning I only played Bronze. When I tested Silver, I was surprised over how easy it was. Sure, it was challenging, but my team still managed to complete the mission circa 4 out of 5 times.
Since I promoted my Infiltrator though, I've been sticking to Bronze. I've tried Silver with my Soldier twice but both attempts ended with me fighting alone for around a minute on a later wave before meeting the same end as my comrades.

My new Infiltrator is at lv 17 and will soon try Silver. I need to get into the Silver business again before we even discuss Gold. :P

I generally stick to silver because I'm on a streak of buying PSPs and am rapidly running out of equipment (rail amps, ammo powers, armor boosts and ammo/shield consumables.) Need to stop and buy some jumbo equipment packs but the last DLC spoiled me by giving me all the new characters right off the bat so I keep thinking: "This next pack will be the lucky one."

But it isn't.
Other than that I only play a couple of gold games a day because I only really play a soldier or infiltrator with a claymore in them. On silver anything goes and I can mix it up more plus it's still challenging enough to not be boring.

Edit: I suppose to clarify I play silver the majority of the time for fun. I play gold sometimes for credits.
