I've got to the duel with Loghain after the Landsmeet and, whichever character I use to fight him, when I try to attack they simply turn their back on him and attack thin air.

Is this a known bug (searches are not showing anything obvious, bar spoilers which I'm trying to avoid) - and is there a solution?

Power off and retry? That's a stranged one.

Try loading a previous save, it's possible that what ever is causing the glitch is part of your most recent save file now.

That whole part of the game is screwed up, just played through and glitched when I was to be arrested for treason. Screen with black and I thought the game froze. FUBAR

Was fine after restarting the console. Thanks both for suggestions.
