Read a few problems but cant find any that exactly match mine with solutions so trying my own post.

I just installed the game last night and have been plagued with problems, installs just fine no issues, loads up just fine no issues, plays just fine no issues, no lag, no graphical load, nothing.

Then after 5 mins or so, my PC just freezes and refuses to do anything, forcing me to hard reboot, due to this i have no error code to look up or anything so im left searching for answers of which ive found none.

Tried reinstalling and using patch 1.0.1b and still same issue, tried running AMD Fusion app as suggested and still same issue (actually led to my pc loading obscenely slow :S dunno how u fix that) Tried running on 1 core, 2 cores and high priority etc.

Kinda wish it would just CTD so i could get an error code :(

I have all latest drivers installed from cpu to sound drivers.

PC Specs are as follows:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090804-1435)
Processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+,  MMX,  3DNow (2 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 3328MB RAM
PSU: 550w
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll
Driver Version: 6.14.0011.9562 (English)
Sound: SB X-Fi Audio [E400]
Driver Version: 6.00.0001.1373 (English)

Any help greatly appreciated.

I have an E2200 intel and my game freezes sometimes, best to just deal with it if you can still play.

Thats my point, i cant, i have to reboot my pc every 5 minutes, its not like it freezes for 2 seconds then releases, it completely locks up, no atl tab, no windows menu, nothing works.no other game has this issue and i play some pretty intensive games on full settings.

pretty high, 100oC on both gpu and cpu :S guess thats too high to be able to run stable, thing is my cpu fan is on full, its a CNPS9700 LED http://www.zalman.co...ead.asp?idx=164

Any way to reduce the load on the cpu from the game settings? the cpu i have should easily be able to take the loads :S

You need to clean out all heat sinks, all vents, and if it's a laptop, get a high quality cooling pad. If its a desktop, you need to improve the air flow.

Just cleaned it out now, see if that helps, my fan comes with a controller unit, is there any programme that can overide that and make it go faster? tried changing bios settings to see if that helps.

I have almost the exact same system as you and had the exact same problem, I lowered my sound exceleration to none, and ran the AMD Fusion just like it was posted, with the exception that I don't have it disable my start menu or my network, and now I have had one freeze up in the last two days, probably jinxing myself now, lol. Oh, not sure if it matters or not, but I also have patch 1.02 installed.

100 C is pretty much the upper limit for computer hardware. you can destroy some hardware in a matter of hours at that rate.

I'd concur with the others that it seems to be a heating issue and that temps that high may damage your equipment. While your in the PC cleaning out the vents you may also want to check your card and component placements. Don't put the videocard right next to a network card or any other add-in card that could block its air intake/exhaust. Don't block your intake fans with hard drives and whatnot... stuff like that.

If your technically savvy, also check to make sure that the thermal compound between your CPU and motherboard is still good. Granted, you'll want to have some of the compound on hand before you do this, since it's gonna need to be reapplied if you remove the CPU LOL...

As a precaution, I'd recommend that you enter your bios and, if it has the option, set your computer to shut down when it hits those temps or over heats. That way, you run less of a risk of melting your PC into a useless brick.

I had a friend that had a prebuilt system that ran so hot you could cook and egg on the top of the case... PC's aren't meant to be a replacement for a hot plate. :)
