I'm not about to share anything that hasn't been shared one thousand times over. Save your time and do not read this.

About two weeks ago I posted about being kicked for killstealing as a SI. Finally this weekend, I unlocked the VS. I finally got to see the other side of the "killsteal" story. Let me tell you, there is no other side. Either I was effective and killed the enemy, or I was ineffective and either did not get the kill and/or got downed. Did heads sometimes explode in the middle of my heavy melee? Yes. Often enough to cause a problem building my Bloodlust stack? No. And if I didn't get my stacks, I stayed in cover a bit more and used a rifle.

It seems that for the most part, people crying "killstealer!" either are scoreboard watchers or are playing a level too hard for them. Sure, sometimes I ended up flaming a spot where an Assault Trooper's head used to be, but then sometimes I flamed to death something glowing blue next to me. Nothing to get your panties in a wad over.

So, random Vorcha, if you try to Rambo out in the open a few times early on and get downed, I think I'm going to leave you to bleed out and let you rage quit sooner than later. I'd rather play with three than worry about you not knowing how to play using some common sense. Odds are, you are the idiot who runs to the LZ as soon as wave 11 starts anyway.

I'm going to give a few examples of what may or may not be kill steals. I want your guys opinions on what is and what is not.

1.) I see a Vorcha shooting an Assault Trooper. He gets him to half health before he has to reload. The Trooper starts shooting at the Vorcha, so I finish him off.

2.) An AA is trying to set off a Biotic Explosion on a Marauder. The Maruders shields are down, but it's health is full. The AA hits them with Warp, but their throw gets dodged. I finish the Maruder off.

3.) Two Adepts are beating the crap out of an Atlas. I'm helping with my sniper. I take the last bars of health off and get credit for the kill.

4.) Two Guardians are harrasing a Soldier. He's holding his own though. I sneak behind the Gurdians and pop them both quickly.

What are your guys thoughts?

Of all of those, the Vorcha one is the only one that would annoy me personally in a game. I wouldn't necessarily call it a kill steal either, I'd just be slightly annoyed as I'd have to go find another kill to keep bloodlust up. As others have mentioned, should have melee'd. The rest I wouldn't consider a kill steal.

Only once have I felt frustrated while playing an adept: I went into a game with 3 infiltrators as a sentinel and they kept capping my warped targets (I targeted groups in order to cause as much collateral as possible when detonating them). And two of the infiltrators kept killing only the warped ones. Eventually I managed to detonate a couple of explosions, and then they stopped shooting my warped targets. I figure they wanted to exploit the expose bonus, until they realized what I was trying to accomplish. It wasn't the kills I was angry about, but the feeling of being completely useless compared to the rest of the team.

I eventually moved a bit on the map and found my own spot to warp and detonate. So, no harm done, though I did feel like I could understand why others get frustrated in similar situations. After that, I've been mostly avoiding playing as a biotic in games with mostly engineers and/or infiltrators. ^^;;

I don't believe in kill stealing (usually an accident when I do it, unless I'm a Vorcha), but I would have left 1 to finish off the guy, since he could handle being shot a bit, and the kill might have helped his regen rate and given a slight damage boost.

Sometimes I feel a little guilty when I mail slot a guardian that someone else has been working on for a while, or when the aoe from my biotic explosions kills other enemies that people are working on, but mostly, it's better for enemies to die faster.

Ever wonder if leechers are just really polite and trying not to steal anyone's kills? :-D

1. No. Vorcha was reloading.

2. Depends:
If he was alone. Then No.
If he was in a group. Then yes, Biotic Explosions are killers, and if an Adept can get one off, in a group, it is so awesome. And Throws cooldown is short enough for him to get another one off very quickly

3. No. 'Bosses' are focus fire, dosen't matter who gets the kill, as long as they're dealt with.

4. No. Thats just, Good teamwork.

On another forum, a guy actually stated this as his reason for camping in one spot and letting everyone else get the kills. He complained about being booted in lobbies after matches. He claimed that they were all chasing for kill-steals on the same enemies. I told him that people going for kills are the ones who leave the team and try to rambo it up elsewhere, and that these players were just sticking together. A flame war ensued.

So yeah, it does happen.

Kill stealing potential grabs. I've been on both sides not seeing my teammate crouched and I shoot his grab before I realize he was there. Sorry my bad. Ditto when I'm going for the grab and somebody kills it. Sometimes I even go thru the grab and punch motions even though there's no body lol. I just deal with it. C'est la guerre.

None of your examples are kill steals, because there is no such thing as a kill steal. Anyone whining about kill-stealing should be sterilized for the good of humanity.

Whenever I see a Batarian wind up for that heavy melee... all I can think of is stealing that kill! :P:innocent:

Meh. I won't lie and say my reaction isn't based solely on my mood, but usually I couldn't care less. As much as I'd prefer they find "their own" if it's dead then we've accomplished our mission.

I don't think there's any kill-stealing - just poor tactical decisions based upon pumping your own score in the after-action report.
1: Poor decision.  The Vorcha is more than capable of pulling out his Wolverine gauntlets and beheading the Trooper, and by taking that kill you put a hitch in his Bloodlust stacks.  If the Vorcha has things handled, leave a couple of enemies alone, especially on Bronze or Silver.  Focus on mobs further away.
2: Unable to judge.  If the Marauder is alone, kill it, the explosion means nothing anyway.  If it's in the middle of a group, leave it be - the explosion will do more good than your single kill can.
3: Good decision.  Nobody should care who gets the score, kill it faster, get the XP for everyone, and move on.
4: Good decision.  Soldiers have better things to be doing than harrying Guardians and ignoring other mobs, kill them faster get the XP for everyone and move on.

There are plenty of enemies on a map. Just keep moving and hunting and no one will get the chance to 'kill steal' Never had an issue with kill stealing although it does happen.. Show a little thoughtfulness when things are quiet and the Vorcha is lining up a melee attack . When things are hectic and you are surrounded by enemies then its impossible to be concerned about whose kill is whose.
