I'll play today. And I've never actually done Dagger Gold, why is it bad?

I gave the glass cannon build a try on some Silvers last night and it's quite a lot of fun. Gonna run it with some friends on Gold sometime this week and see how I like it. Getting used to when to charge/when not to charge, and what powers to use at what time is a little tricky, but with practice it's a VERY strong build.

Thanks for the guide!

I played several games with the smash/charge/fitness build, and I find it really hard to use smash since its range is so short. Some increase in base range or decrease in cast time would make me happy.

I took out the cerberus vanguard with full fitness since their powers looked really awesome. Within a few seconds i was regretting my decision. The vanguard couldnt take a few hits in level one. His shields kept dropping too quickly for my taste. They should make smash work the same way as nova even without the invisibility frames.

Thanks for the updated video. Seeing your play style, essentially using a lot more lash and being very picky about when to use smash, was gratifying because that is the way I ended up making it work too. ALthough as you saw today I am still working some kinks out.

You sort've need Lash in my usage of him... or a long range weapon. Charge and Smash are too clode quarters to be excessively useful on Gold especially with only about 1600 overall HP. Then again it was my first attempt at the Vanguard and he was only Level 16. Was thinking that maybe a 6/6/6/4/4 build would work but the recharge speed of Lash is too long without the reduced shotty/AR weight so you are limited to pistols like the Talon and Paladin which isn't neccessarily a bad thin, might respec to it when I hit Level 20 for now I might try tthe glass cannon build.

no problem.

you played with me earlier, and i used phoenix vanguard for a few games, so you can tell these kind people, did i die all over the shop? were there any situations where my skillset limitied my ability to contribue (against any of the factions)?

i don't ask you to share this to make me look good, i ask you to share it so that people can be told, from a source other than me, that the class is very good when played well.

guys, it's just a matter of clearing out your pre-conceived notions about the class and accepting something new. don't try to play it like anything else, because it's not like anything else. very good players i know have played the class and been unable to get a feel for it right away. it's only a matter of putting in some time and effort. once you get the hang of it, i promise, you'll love it.

Arelex (and G00sh) was doing very well without the carbine i.e. the carbine doesn't make or break the class. The class is viable and certainly competitive with others on gold.

*sigh*, every time I see this topic back on the first page, I die a little inside, since this is the ONE class I have yet to unlock. Well, at least I have fun changing the lights on my Vorcha sentinel and Quarian male infiltrator!/sarcasm

Nice! This was the first Rebellion character I unlocked, and I really enjoy enjoy playing it. I did get squished a lot at first, but once you get used to the strengths and play to them, whee! I love slinging enemies off of the edge of maps, and My favorite is smashing things through walls and around corners. Honestly, I haven't had another character that felt so powerful against bosses on his own. You can even get away with smashing Banshees if you're careful about position and timing.

this is a nice summary of the phoenix vanguard. one thing though: the biotic bubble also allows 2 explosions with one cast (on the same target, of course)

Great, now I'm going to spend the rest of the week obsessively playing the game to try to unlock this class. And the Talon.
But anyway, nice guide!

I didn't need any more guns till I saw the vid. I finally got the Reegar but now I need to upgrade it. Great thread! Cerbius Vanguard is my new go-to fun class.

Builds in MP... sigh.

I prefer the Cerberus Adept over Vanguard anyway, kinda like a reverse Vanguard with the Lash power. and Singularity can screw with large gatherings and provide teammates with easy targets.

I would prefer the vanguard if it wasnt for the damn bugs, but I still like using him when playing with friends on random golds cause whenever cerberus pops up its:

"DAMNIT STAY AWAY FROM ME keep scaring the crap out of me."

(Guess what my phoguards colors are :P)
