My first playthrough is going to be this guy, but I set my avatar to the other mage I made because she looks a bit more interesting.

Mages are the (walking) bomb!

I'd like to conceptualize my Mage; however, I have a Mac. Can I use the character creator through Boot Camp?

Mages are the ONLY healer class, and healer classes are awesome. I'll try a spirit healer first, maybe.

Also, we can set things on fire. Can your Warrior do that?

Woah now, Enuhal, we've all had fire before, but have you ever put someone to sleep and then given them nightmares so they sleep-walk? That being said, my second mage will be Creation, so I'm with you there. =p

Im in the same boat as you as i have a Mac (MacBook Pro) and i have been able to run the character creator through boot camp (Windows 7 RC) and im sure you will be able to as long as your specs are high enough, and all your drivers and DirectX stuff is up to date.

The graphics were also surprisingly good seeing as this is a Mac. ;)

Mages all the way. Warriors and rogues? Bah. They can stab, bash, and slice things. But mages can burn, freeze, crush, blow up, melt and more! Most of all though? They get the best clothes. I want fancy boots and colorful shirts, snappy robes, exquisite jewelry, ect ect. Not bulky armor and helms that make me look like a walking iron golem.

Did I mention setting things on fire? ;)

It looks like the Warriors and Rogues grotesque behavior is advancing them before us. We should look more to our studies and research in order to prepare a suitable method to reach the golden ring again

*Sits back down again with a Manual and studies it*

Hello, my name is Lysea and I'm a Magic-abuser. Er, what? This . . . this isn't the Magi Anonymous meeting? Ooops. <Looks sheepish> :D

I'm usually into playing mages and sorcerers in fantasy games, and certainly plan to start out DA:O with a mage. Not sure exactly what specialties yet. Though ice is nice. :)

We mages are teh sexy in our designer robes B) , gotta look good when casting an ignite on some schmuck. Armor is overrated, well except for those pesky backstabbing rogues

So, what's my chances for a Battlemage? I'd like to don heavy armor, wield a sword and spew magic at people.

My male elf mage, seventh playthrough, blood mage: social.bioware.com/348/albums/2729/184

Wow, seventh playthrough... =)

I thought I went overboard by making my first 3 characters..hehe..and mine are all diff origins...two of yours are even the same origin (mage).

Then I guess the 8 characters I've already made and plan to play through with each, mage being first is prolly overboard. Image IPB

The mages have lost their steam! Noooo.

Anyone actually have their mage all planned out, or still like me, stuck with no idea which way to take it?

i'm doing my best to stay focussed on my first char although i'm still not sure what he's gonna be.

i'm thinking throwing fire balls will be best, maybe with some undead thrown in.

thank god for reduced friendly on normal (for my warriors' sake)

I already know that she will be a Spirit Healer but that's about it.

I already have mine planned out to level 20. I'm not picking up specializations with her, so it was simply a matter of selecting which spell lines made sense. I'll be running blind if she actually makes it past level 20 though.

Aspiring blood mage focusing on entropy and spirit, here. Walking bomb simply looks too delicious.
