Varric reveals that his whole story was a lie, and none of it actually happened.

Hawke turns out just to be a phantom made up by people gossiping about the Templar/Mage issue in Kirkwall, embellished by Varric. The chantry only exploded because someone forgot to turn the gas off after they made dinner. Alistair, Zevran, Leliana, Isabela, Anders etc are all off doing what they were going to do at the end of the blight (or still dead, if they had died). Merrill is still with the fully alive and well Dalish clan, doing Dalish stuff. Zevran's face is not actually a melted monstrosity. 

Varric then manages to escape and he and Bianca run off and find the Warden. We then relive the tales of what happened after the Warden left Morrigan at the Eluvian before enbarking on another epic adventure involving Morrigan, Flemeth and some good old-fashioned fantasy monster killing.

I would really enjoy an opening wherein Cullen, Flemeth, Morrigan, Alistair and the Warden horribly and graphically die (if they haven't already). If just to see the reaction in this forum of their incessant fanboys and -girls.

Their sacrifice would be worth it.

I love how people say TW2 and CDPR are more tasteful than Bioware.

Apparently putting a sex scene in every trailer, bragging about the nudity in your game, and Maxim promotions are classy.

The best beginning to DA3 in my opinion would be much more similar to DAO's. Focusing on a member of the Divine's Seekers, we're given a more neutral view on the Mage/Templar conflict, witnessing parts of a couple of battles, being given a quick review of what happened that led up to this and seeing the Seeker get pulled into a conflict between both sides (possibly killed) before moving right into playing as the MC (a separate character from the Seeker shown in the intro).

That's just what I want for the beginning though.

A battle would be the best beginning.

Throwing the audience into a large scale battle would be best . Similar to how Origins started.

The absolute best possible beginning for DAIII:

BioWare ignores moronic forumites, and EA, and accidently hits the awesome button in much the same way as they did with Dragon Age: Origins.
