I just realised how hilarious this thread title is. Like there was a mad rush of people at the end trying to stop the Stargazer from talking.

I was.  Where were the rest of you?  Bunch of traitors!  He's only an old senile man, we could have taken him!

It was getting late and I didn't want to hear one more story.

I still want Bioware to explain WHY the old man is telling Jr. about all the sex.

ugh!   You sound so...20th century.   By the time that takes place, Grandpa is having sex with the kid.  Really! Ditch your parochial taboos and get with it!

At one point, the claim was being made that the file name for the old man says 10000 yrs later or something similar. Not sre if it was ever confirmed or not.

Thanks was trying to figure out where everyone was getting 10,000 years later. If it was 10,000 years later shouldn't there be some kind of mass relay type of tech?

No. No, no, no!

The reason that scene is so horrible is because it turns the entire series into...something it isn't. We never really knew Shepard, or Liara, or Garrus, or Tali. It was all just some crap a senile old man made up. And guess what? They're long dead. They've been dead for hundreds of years. Or they never existed in the first place.

Sweet bloody dreams.

Even the current scene doesn't do anything like that actually... The only disadvantage it has is that it's too short. The scene just needs to be extended.

No theories here...

I just think that extended "Old Man and a Kid" scene could be a nice way to present full EC epilogue. The scene is not necessarily should be as static as the current one. But the main concept of the scene is very good for the epilogue.

I hope BioWare will uprise the scene to the new level, and use it the create the most beautiful epilogue in the game development history. This could be for example a fully animated dialogue scene with a lot of "flashbacks showing the past".

...Keep doing great job, BioWare! We trust in you Image IPB

God no. Let that scene die in as horrible a fashion as possible and give us a proper epilogue for the characters we care about and the immediate future of the galaxy.

"Old Man and a Kid" scene can provide the proper epilogue you are talking about.

Always nice to see all the love on this threads...

I think it's great you are doing this support threads, Seival. I didn't really like the scene, but it's good to see there are others who did.

A scene set 10,000 years in the future that starts to refer to my Shep with quasi religious tones isn't a workable epilogue imo.

The only disadvantage it has is that it's too short. The scene just needs to be extended.

The whole ending should be retconned.
Since Bioware doesn't seem to consider that a viable option, there are some parts of the ending that need to be stretched out to make more sense or for more emotional impact. This scene definitely isn't one of them.

I'm sure they will not remove the scene. And since it's the only scene that looks like an epilogue, it will be extended to a full-scale epilogue in EC most likely.

And I don't have such feelings while I'm watching the scene. It's good scene, it's just too short...

Extended?

Yeah, I can see it now.

"And so The Shepard campaigned vehemently to remove the one child policy the Frog Men imposed on Chanka, and was successful in freeing the Korgan, to have a new and bright future under the rule of The Wrex and The Eve."

"Wow, that sounds like such an amazing story. What was The Wrex like?"

"Humourless, she hated fighting."

Or they will simply tell the epilogue without using that scene for it?
Like, actually show us how our decisions affect the world and what impact our actions have? Instead of letting some old man explain everything?
You're awfully quick to jump to conclusions.

I really doubt they will tell the epilogue without using that scene for it.

The only reason I could think of to have the old man tell us about the consequences of our actions would be because that would be the cheapest way to do it.
That would be like the cheapest cop-out in the history of anything. If they actually did that the backlash would be massive.
