Definitely this. More cowbell would lead to a 1000% increase in success.
Also, immediately giving 100% of your attention to the Banshees and Brutes when you should kill the Marauders, Ravagers, and Cannibals first.

So what if some players don't do great every time?
I don't play very often at all (2-4 times a month) and I play cause it's fun, and that's how it should be looked at; a MP game that's fun to play with other people, with weight on the "other people" part.
If I want to play a MP game alone or a team with just friends I know really well I sit down and play Battlefield.
So if you're so awesome and wonderful don't play with other people and complain about it, just sit yourself in your favorite couch and play Gold by yourself or with your best buddies.
Now an short explanation for my "rant":
- I hate elitism. I mean really hate it...
- It's a MP game, you win some, you loose some, and in the end you learn some and get better.
- Playing with (not against) other human beings is the best way to learn new tactics. "In chaos one must cipher order"
PEACE!

Part of why Gold with random players is many times a losing proposition.

What are you talking about? I just watched Star Wars for the first time. Darth Vader killed Luke's dad, they were like friends or something and then Darth Vader murdered lukes dad. Obi Wan told him so and Obi Wan would not lie.
Also I can't wait for Luke to hook up with Leia, match made in heaven. Also I bet anything those bounty Hunters never catch up to Han Solo, he has the fastest ship in the Galaxy, to fast for bounty hunters.
Snape kills Dumbledore.

Banshee grabs, sometimes from oddly long range, sometimes because I just wasn't paying enough attention.
Every action other than "shoot" mapped to "X". I die more times by accidentally getting in cover while trying to run to my next position. Press "X" to run. "X" to revive. "X" to activate. "X" to scream like a frightened muppet. "X" to make a sandwich with your remaining salami. I feel like I might as well be playing with an Atari controller.

That's why I stick with my characters that are weapon-proficient on gold (or in the case of my TSe, well rounded enough that I can fit in with any team).

That's pretty much the only reason. When I play Gold purposely I usually complete the match.

Although...technically...we didn't fail on that run.
Other reasons:
1-because the Geth are stupid d*ck-faced d*cks who have d*cks for eyes and d*ck-fingers, and Rocket Troopers have flaming rocket d*cks that lock onto your booty-hole and stun you with the staggering realization of how many d*cks the Consensus can throw at you at any given time.
2-Reason no. 1 is ALL THE REASONS.

The real reason fail at Gold is that they take it WAY too seriously. It's a game. It's not real money you're losing. You're not actually losing any real equipment. It's okay to have fun with a video game. I swear, I read these forums and I wouldn't want to play with half the people on here because of how anal they are about every little thing. If you take this game THAT seriously, you have some serious issues.
Oftentimes, people who accuse others of taking the game too seriously are just plain bad at it themselves, and trying to justify their poor performance.
That's not to say that some people don't take it too seriously...because those people are definitely out there. However, I find them much more common in games like BF3 and CoD. ME3 has a pretty easygoing player base in comparison.
Please note, I didn't say that YOU were bad. Don't take my point the wrong way. You can't deny there is some truth to what I said. Or at least, if you do deny it, then we all know you're one of those lol.

Sooo so so many player just run over and rez without any thought to the enemy. I realize sometimes this is the only option and I appreciate the effort but we would both be better off if you took the time to position yourself. You can rez from a short distance away.

2. No one watching the damn flank.
3. Everyone getting stun locked then mowed down (only on geth).
4. Banshee or Phantom going impale happy and no one can seem to stop them.
5. Someone purposefully tailing me and taking a kill that I was getting to stack my bloodlust only for me to get mowed down and t-bagged by said person that was tailing.
6. Extreme lag.

Very True. I got another to add. We got the money but not the "win". It was mostly my fault but it leads to another reason teams fail. If you run out into the open and get mowed down in front of a turret and engineer, a phantom and who knows what else yet. I figured you would use a gel because if there was ever a time to use a gel but no. I could have just let him be but we were kinda carrying the other two. ( by the way they wanted to kick a level 26 n7 and since he was a decent character level and had a valiant I said no and he really held his own, way better then people I have seen with an n7 in the 500s) Anyway, so I figured I needed his help since we were doing the biotic combo thing he was a Justicar and I was an ex cerberus Vanguard ( An amazing combo by the way) so I ran out to save him and had to use all my gel just to get back to the rest of the team and of course he died anyway. Then the level 26 n7 goes down and I knew I shouldn't try and save him but I was so impressed I did it anyway and died. So, we failed mostly due to my risky judgement calls. Sometimes it takes death for the team to live.

2) Stingy players who don't seem to realize that missiles kill more than just one thing.
3) Characters too low level to survive. (Although I will take full blame for staying in the match.)
4) Depleted everything because of #1, #2, and #3.
And the sad thing is that all of this occurs on FB:WGG
