Hey everyone. I decided to say farewell to my PS3 version of Dragon Age Origins(Going to get a gaming rig and other stuff to play it on PC this Christmas) with a final playthrough on Nightmare.
I'm thinking of playing as a DW Warrior and probably playing as a Human Noble. Maybe a Dalish Elf, but I doubt it.
I want to know what I should watch out for and who wuld be the most useful teammates to compliment my Warden. Would a set-up with Wynne, Alistair(Tank), and Leliana work? Or should I swap Alistair for Shale or Sten?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Tips for 1st Nightmare Playthrough?

I have played a grand total of 3 DW Human Noble warriors (due to changing system, followed by my laptop breaking, and this build happened to be my canon playthrough), and I can tell you that they are incredibly fun to play as well as being a powerful build.
In terms of teammates I used Morrigan (Role: Ranged DPS, Minor Support), Alistair (Role: Tank, Melee DPS) and Zevran (Melee DPS + Lockpicker/Trap Disarmer). As a DW Warrior, your role is as Melee DPS and as an off tank. A party of Wynne, Alistair and Leliana seems a little low on damage output, but should work fine. I'd suggest swapping either Wynne for Morrigan or Leliana for Zevran to balance things out a little.
Whilst any character can be built however you like, Zevran's starting talents in the DW tree lend him to becoming a cunning heavy auto attacker build, which pumps out a lot of damage. Likewise with Morrigan; I find her debuffs are more useful than Wynne's healing abilites in general.
For your PC, you can go down two paths: an auto attacking focussed build that wields 2 daggers, or a more talent focussed build using two full sized weapons. I prefer the full sized weapon build personally. You're going to want to get 20 constitution (just helps with survivability), 36 Dexterity for Dual Weapon Mastery, then put the rest of your points in Strength to improve your damage output. You get enough free cunning for Master Coercion and other skills you may want from the Fade so you don't have to worry about that.
You want to get all the DW talents, Momentum is a priority and should be on at ALL times. The Warrior line containing Bravery is nice, but those talents can wait until you have spare points to throw around. For specializations, I pick Champion and Reaver. War Cry with superiority is SO good, especially on higher difficulty settings, I give it to both Alistair and myself. Although Berserker would provide you with more outright DPS that Reaver, having an extra heal in the form of Devour, and a stun that is effective against enemies that resist Warcry (Frightening Appearance) is very handy for locking down lietenants, provides more benefit especially on the higher difficulties. Blood Frenzy isn't that great, so I wouldn't finish that tree off until you start getting spare talent points.
In terms of gear, you want to get the classics (Spellward, Andruil's Blessing, Lifegiver, Key to the City). For armour, it basically comes down to the Warden Commander set versus Wade's Superior Dragonbone, I personally like the extra defense and the fire resist on Wade's set (you'll be glad of it when you get hit with the hundredth fireball).
You can also get the heavy dragonscale version of Wade's set and use Evon the Great's Mail with it instead of the chestpiece, you still get the set effect. The optimum weapons to use with this build are dual Veshialle's, as you will have very high Strength and axes give a 1.1 Strength modifier. Despite that I tend to use the Keening Blade and Starfang, they are only marginally worse and I prefer them. Any tier 7+ 3 rune slotted weapons with their own innate enchantments work really (Topsider's honour, Reaper's Cudgel, Duncan's Sword, Maric's Blade to name a few.) You can get 2 Veshialle's because Bodahn's stock is replenished after the 1st time you meet him, although if you consider this an exploit its no requirement. You can get the gold for it by selling the Reaper's Cudgel, assuming you have the Golems of Amgarrak DLC.
For companions, I give Alistair Cailan's armour and Maric's blade + shield, and spec him as a Champion. He gets 26 or so Dexterity, 20-25 Constitution and the rest in Strength. The W+S talent Shield Wall should be active at all times, as should threaten (standard tanking talents).
Morrigan - or whoever your mage is - should ideally get Spirit Mage and Blood Mage. Spirit Mage is worth it purely for group heal. Even if your mage isn't a healer, its worth spending the one talent point to get Heal. Blood Wound is a somewhat broken talent in that its an extremely long lasting aoe stun. I also get Morrigan the sleep line in Entropy, this party build focusses around stopping your enemies from attacking for as long as possible. The Mana Clash line is basically a necessity to deal with mages (it one shots most mages in the game) as well as Spell might in that line to unlock the Storm of the Century spell combo. If you're not aware, casting Tempest and Blizzard on the same spot whilst under the effect of Spell might creates a SotC, which is the most powerful aoe spell in the game. It'll wipe your party out too if you're not careful though. The Ashen Gloves, Robes of Posession, Winter's Breath staff (the one from Warden's keep not Wonders of Thedas) and Frostshear ring are what you want to look out for gear wise for Morrigan, to give her a very nice +% cold damage modifier.
Between Morrigan, your PC and Alistair you've got most bases covered. You can add in either Leliana or Zevran for a bit of extra DPS and rogue support abilites. If you do go for Zevran, get him 36 dex, 20 cons and the rest in Cunning, get him the Red Jenny Seeker's gloves as well as the Rose's Thorn and a Crow Dagger, and the High Regard of House Dace if you have the dlc, position him for backstabs on anything and watch him destroy it. He is very fragile however. You don't need to get him too many of the DW talents; the DW Mastery line, and the Whirlwind line up to Momentum are the important ones to get, he's basically an auto attacking machine.
With your DW Warrior you have a character with great surviability (Massive armour, decent Dexterity, heals from Reaver), reasonable AOE dps (DW Sweep + Whirwind), excellent single target DPS due to high Dex and Str (Punisher, Cripple, Flurry...) lots of stuns (Riposte, Reaver + Champion) and you look like a complete badass. Its one of the most powerful builds in the game, so have a blast with it.
