I'm also surprised to read this, I know plenty of players who did ME and they all love Garrus Also I think I read somewhere he's the most favourite ME squadmate ~

From what I gathered, most of this hate is not directed at Garrus per se, but at the fact that he was "forced" on Shepard as best bro. Liara's case seems to be similar. I personally have nothing against him. He's trully my Shepard's best bro, so it would be strange for me to hate him

Yeah. Not only because it seems to be more popular, but also because ME has bigger fanbase. I think.

A lot feel that way, indeed. Same goes for Tali. Also, Garrus and Tali are disliked by some for being squadmates in all the games, and for being the only ME2 squadmates returning in the squad in ME3. There are some who don't like them regardless of that though.

 

I don't know about the fanbase, but Shepard and Garrus' friendship was built up in three games. Varric and Hawke had only one game.

Nah. Garrus and Shepard would've still win, probably with any friendship pairing in DA and ME games.

I don't agree on not liking them (I like both Garrus and Varric), but I do agree there should've been more options.

What about Morrigan and F!Warden?! That's my personal favorite friendship. Next would be Inquisitor and Brosandra (Cassandra).

Liara's friendship was as forced as Garrus'. Not that it means one has to like both, but complaining that one is forced while the other is the same seem strange.
