Noam Chomsky theorizes a "Universal Grammar" that all human languages share. Had he lived to study alien languages, he may have found that it extends beyond life on Earth. That is to say that the languages of all sapient life in the galaxy and possibly the universe share the same basics of grammar and syntax and that any language, no matter how complex or dissimilar to our own, can be parsed in a matter of moments by what is essentially a miniature quantum computer you wear on your wrist.

Yah, but first we have to come up with a quantum computer the size of a football field.

Maybe they resurrected Vigil. Homey deciphered human, krogan, turian, quarian, and asari languages in the timespan between when Shepard and crew landed on Ilos to when they showed up at its doorstep.

How about this.  The Council launched a covert expedition to Ilos during the time period that Shepard was dead - recovered Vigil as well as the technology the Protheans used and learned exactly how the Reapers destroyed sentient that reached the pinnacle they desired.  they then built the Arks in secret (we have no idea how much data has been recovered from Prothean archives and what the data entailed) and quietly enlisted people and family to be a part of the ark initiative (Experienced combat personal being left in the Milky Way for the war in case they could find a way to win).

Then when Shepard came back the council was rather surprised but did not divulge the Ark plans due to the influence they believe Cerberus had on Shepard thus telling Shepard that Vigil was no longer operative to make it seem like a dead end.

In other words.. space magic. It's always apace magic. heh

The only space magic involved is accepting that these aliens' brains will be wired similarly to mammals on earth, which is already established in-universe and is likely based on Convergent Evolution which some theorize will also apply to alien life.

I don't know much about physics but biotic "powers", element zero and mass effect fields seem far less plausible than a universal translator.

This isn't really the thread for that discussion though  B)

No, that hasn't been posted yet.

Interesting, considering at the conference they said more information in the fall but now they are saying in the coming weeks, a whole season ahead of time.

We'll likely get regular dribs and drabs all the way from now until the game ships; in between the big info dumps at the conventions and N7 day.

Before we get this answered, I would like to know why we are going to Andromeda in the first place. Don't think we have a solid confirmation on that yet

You can find at least a partial answer in the Polygon interview, specifically the "Strangers in a Strange Land" paragraph :)

The article has Mac quoted as calling this a standalone game. No trilogy?

"We'll be re-explaining [the series' technology and concepts] in this game, but other than that, this is very much a standalone game that then takes place in a completely new galaxy," he said.

I wouldn't read too much into that. They used to say the same things about ME2/3 in order to get in new players. I recall them saying a long time ago that ME:A is the start of a new trilogy. Specifically in regards to them saying how your character will build their reputation over the course of the trilogy as opposed to starting out with one like Shepard. I don't have a link on that, but I remember reading it long ago.

All Sci fi is space magic, so if you read or play or watch sci fi it is all space magic, that is until it becomes reality.

Yep; Star Trek discovered this long ago when their gizmos were investigated for being close to secret designs, or when Sci-Fi designs started to become reality. Much the same for Jules Verne, Arthur C Clark, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asminov, etc and a personal fave, Kenneth Robson and his pulp fiction heroics of Doc Savage.

Fabrice Condominas @Faburisu

"It's not that bad, nobody will encounter [redacted]"

"I just did"

"You're the producer, you're cursed"

*Awkward Silence*

"Ok, I'll fix it"

Barrett Rodych @ForgedPixels

The #QACurse and the #ProducerCurse are dangerous in this world

Fabrice Condominas @Faburisu

Except that QA don't call it a curse but a skill.

Barrett Rodych @ForgedPixels

Depends how evolved said QA are, it gets to a point where it never turns off. The #QACurse will be what ends creation.

Damn it... I read the freaking comment section...

They're seriously saying fem!Ryder is ugly and looks like a man. When someone points out how hypocritical it is that no one cares about how good-looking the male hero is but when the it's a woman suddenly it's hugely important someone tells  that person to "Get off your sexist high-horse. Men are allowed to be men in a world that believes in human rights."

Seriously?

Human nature: Suck up to your betters, undercut your equals, and trample all who are less fortunate than you. People as a whole, are hypocrites. Many cry for rights, but when another group asks for their rights. The first group crys and says their rights are being destroyed. Quoting K from MIB "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky animals and you know it."

Personally, Miss Ryder, looked pretty awesome. Still maining as a male, though. I'll alt as a female, only after I'm done with my trial playthroughs, and find my own canon male Ryder.
