Look at the end of the day, if the backlash made Mr Flynn feel that terrible, then I hope he realizes it was only a reflection of how terrible the endings made a lot of us feel.  In many cases even with the so-called "fix"  And that he and the others in charge are mindful of that going forward.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Twitter thread, already in progress

Another one from Gamespot: http://www.gamespot....l/1100-6440814/

                                                                                   <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

Two points from Aaryn Flynn:

  • "...we're eager to calm those concerns..."
  • "...everything we showed in that trailer is right from the game, so none of that is made by CG..."

Where is the eager activities to calm the concerns?

and

Which part of the Behind the Scenes video were made by the game?... 'cause the rocket launch and devs working were not.

Oh no, don't even try and equate that. One was a fictional ending made with the hope that people would enjoy it, the other was a conscious effort by a group of real people to harass and berate another group of real people with death threats and calls for their jobs. The fans don't get to proclaim themselves "victims" here, especially not of a bad video game ending.

This is so false on so many levels.   Death threats were just coming from trolls, a small part of the backlash.  If you think for one second the entire outcry was comprised just of death threats you are sorely mistaken.

Face it, they messed up and we called them out on it.     Boo hoo, the terrible story you wrote just upset about everyone who played your video game.  Doesn't mean you get to label us as villains for making a stand.

It could make them feel like they should have done better and shouldn't have lied to us to begin with.

Yeah but other scenes were clearly from game. You could question parts like Arks above Earth (back in ME1-3 these sections would likely be pre-rendered) but there isn't much reason to doubt it was all 'real' this close to release. Even if the game ends up getting delayed again, thay got to have most assets ready by now

I see a lot of people thinking the next update will be on N7 Day, but there'll be stuff in the next few weeks

https://twitter.com/...847043702394880

Well way back when Chris Wynn was still at BioWare, he said they'd be going to Gamescom. Not sure if that'd still hold up though...

I can understand those fan concerns. I feel that, this close to release, it's a bit worrying there's no deep dive on how the game plays.
Oh okay, we could absolutely go into all that detail now. I have no concerns with that stuff.

"Coming weeks" is extremly vague and may very well mean November in BW's definition. Don't set up yourself for another disappointement like current E3

These two love to appear with their two very different t-shirts.

Is this a metaphor of how Andromeda conects with the past trilogy?

Or...

Is this a metaphor of our Protagonist (Ai) vs. the Antagonist (N7)?

That was a joke...right?

No. I feel as a culture we're way too judgmental about what causes people emotional harm. Traumatized people should seek out help whatever the source of their anxiety. And it's odd- we accept that art can make you happy, or move you to tears. But somehow the idea that art can hurt you emotionally is seen as a scornful and weak in most cases.

Because we can't live in a society where every ruffled feather is grounds for a piece of art to be censored or banned. There's a point where people just need to learn to deal with crap as part of being a mature adult.

No, they weren't just "called out." A lot happens during development. Everyone was working hard, maybe harder than they've ever worked on any other project. For many of them it was a decade long labour of love. Yeah they misfired on the ending, but the constant bashing against devs was way out of line. If you think death threats and demands for devs to be fired is remotely comparable to us getting a bad ending then you need to take a moment and chill. And don't even tell me that it was just a small group of trolls that don't represent us. People have been calling for Mac's job for years and I saw more than a few "good riddance" comments after Casey left.

I don't recall asking for anything to be censored or banned. Encouraging people to deal with their trauma, and acknowledging that trauma can come from a WIDE variety of sources, is not the same thing as asking to muzzle artistry.

You laugh, but I will wait in the dark corner of the room and in the moment they comment something about the game and their t-shirt choices I will jump next to you and I will shout: I TOLD YOU SO!!!

To some people I've met, it is.

I have no problem with people seeking help, but people do have control over how much they let the words of others affect and influence them. People who claim to have PTSD from reading mean comments on the internet have themselves partially to blame for investing so much in the opinions of random people online.
