Happy Father's Day to some of the dads at BioWare I get to work with:

Can't get enough of all of the #MEAndromeda fan reaction videos that keep coming out! We. Have. The BEST Fans! Thanks for your support!
Thank the Biotic God that they don't come to BSN to see fan reactions.
About the whole Pathfinder being out... Because of some work procrastination combined with hype I'm digging around and stumbled upon this video from last year, where a BioWare designer shows off his skills (very soothing, like a Bob Ross video, highly recommended). There he describes the N7 guy from the trailers as the 'Pathfinder model'. Which means they might've still changed much in the last year, or the N7 armor is a placeholder for the Pathfinder armor.

will we hear anymore news about andromeda before N7 day?
Not really. I'd rather we focus on making MEA great... before we get talking about how great it will one day be.
So much for "more info in the coming weeks". ![]()

Sound like a bit more than just polishing then

but I assume when it is time to show off, it'll be shown off with a bang?
Oh yes. A Big Bang... One might say.

On "polish":
So, my personal experience is more in 3D animated filmmaking than games, but they have enough similarities that I think I can offer a bit of insight.
For everyone saying that there must be something else going on, this is too much time for just polish - with respect, I don't think you have the right frame of reference for what "polish" is for a project like this. When you look at a video game, all the hard work is under the surface. Everything you see - what makes the game look good and sound good - that's the "polish." And while that's often a relatively small percentage overall of the work, it also really needs to be there before they start showing the game off extensively.
Sounds effects, plugging in the voice acting, facial animation to go with the voice acting, lighting, bug fixing... all the things which don't come in until the very end because you CAN'T do it until the rest is finished. (You can't light a level until all the models and textures and stuff is in it. You can't lip sync/do the facial animations until the voice acting is done and plugged in. Etc.) Plus, all those things tend to come in all at once towards the end. It's not like such-and-such a level is completed fully, then they do the next level... it's more accurate to say it's done in passes. All the lighting goes in at once. All the sound comes in at once. All the particle effects go in at once. Etc.
So, I believe them when they say all that's left is polish, because if it's anything like animation, and given how much content BioWare RPGs tend to have, this is a totally reasonable time frame for polish.
Sure, I can be totally wrong and you all are right, I have no idea what's going on there. But frankly, I don't see any reason to worry. Building and sustaining hype is difficult, and I'm sure they're trying to learn from their experience with marketing DA:I (besides, traditionally it's the publisher that's in charge of marketing, not the studio).
And that's what I have to say about that.

I know it's what many were thinking but does this confirm N7 as the BIG ONE in terms of info and sort of dash all hopes for late summer/early autumn convention info?
I just looked at the calendar and realised I'm wishing my life away waiting for MEA to come out. I had just turned 30 when ME3 came out and I played all three games for the first time and I will be thirty-five by the time MEA arrives and probably 40(!!!) when I get to play ME5. I hope with the addition of the new IP we can get something like an 18 month cycle between all three tent-pole franchises.
I need to always be playing (or modding) a Bioware game and I'm a little burned out on the old ones. Fallout 4 has been a happy unexpected diversion but it's time to get back to regular programming ![]()

They've said that before. Multiple times. I wonder how those times turned out. Oh, right...

Happy Father's Day to the thread in general! May you receive something better than a tie.
@Hrungr So, we'll have to wait until N7 Day to get the big info dump? That's kinda a bummer. I was hoping to hear more about ME:A before then. As long as one of the trailers features some gameplay (including UI and all of that,) I'll be a happy camper.
I do understand where they are coming from with this ad strategy. I think DA:I wasn't the best way to release info for the game. I remember a lot of "rip off the bandaid" posts when the DA team released a few names of the party, a few LIs and that was it for months. I'd rather see them release it all once at this point. Rather than having some of the names released a month before the game is supposed to land. Poor Josie.
Yeah, Billy and Blar talked a little about this on today's ProducerHax podcast. They said not to worry, there aren't any problems going on in development, and there is a plan / reason why they're holding off showing too much now. They went on to praise Bethesda's Apple-like approach to reveals - just drop the bomb 3-4 months before release so that you get people hyped and it's in your hands before you know it. No hype fatigue. And this clearly seems to be the approach BioWare is taking here. Mind you, they probably shouldn't have shown anything until N7 Day and just kept the teasing to Twitter.
And I think this really is the best way to handle it. You show off a game that is virtually feature complete and not something which may have gameplay and graphics that don't make it to the final release. And with long marketing campaigns there's always the risk of showing more than you'd like just to maintain that level of hype...

While as probably this site's biggest Josephine fan that was torture, the rest of the DAI marketing was exponentially better. I'd take what they did in DAI over what they are doing now any day.
Dang it, out of likes.
I didn't know that the devs had made statements along those lines. Good on them. The lack of a lot of info can be a little frustrating as a big fan, but I completely respect where they are coming from.
I just find myself in the no man's land between knowing too much for wild speculation and knowing too little for more detailed speculation. I need just a tiny bit more information on the Andromeda Initiative and I'll be fine until launch.

Maybe you'll get it from the upcoming book (or what people post about it here if you're not the sort to read such tomes...)
I think they are holding back info for the book.
The book will be publish in August. I suppose the big mistery (when we go to Andromeda? why? who?) will be resolve in the book and then in N7 the hype train will start again
