While there were features that didn't make it in the game shown, there were also features that were. That gave the potential players a feel of the game, which is infinitely better than just showing pretty pictures once every six months until release.
I want to know all about my character and those close to them. And the premise for the specific plot. And the feel and atmosphere of the game in general. DAI provided that. MEA has not. I don't want too many mysteries about the game. I don't have the money situation for that kind of leap of faith.
The devs streaming that was one of the best things of the entire marketing campaign for me.
I disagree. I get not spoiling the end, but the player should absolutely have the option to know the beginning.

Wish I could put things into words like you do.

All I really want to know is how, why, who.

Guns and powers display.

Then I'm good till it drops and I would be good right now but this keeps happening:

Time to get excited!

*Gets excited*

Are you excited?

*nods*

Good, because what's coming up in a few months is really exciting.

*Deflates*

Very nice writing  and i understand very well where you're coming from :).

I would be okay with showing some ingame mechanics like the battle system (like is there a way to command our companions or is there a tactical approach or something like that), some CC insight (will there be a save function or face code system this time which i really missed in DA:I? What hair, sliders, make up and voices do we have?), weapon & armor designs, how our companions look (maybe with class), the class system/skill system, maybe the names of the voice actors and the explanation of the system between MP & SP and how they want to execute that etc.etc..

I am eager to get infos and it is soooo hard to wait until N7 day or whenever they show us some tiny bits. I am happy with every bit i can get to speculate :P

I am not that eager to learn about story flow/progress btw (it is okay for me to know that we're sleeping on the ark and wake up in the new galaxy) or the characters personality/backgrounds - that is what i want to explore :)

Regarding the books, by perchance anyone knows if there are going to be digital editions?

I think so...

About the books... I love to read, I bought all the ME books and comicbooks, but I'm not sure I want to start my MEA experience by reading a book or 2 published months before the game will be released (I've heard 2 of them are prequel)... I want to play first and complete my experience after with more stuff.

You will certainly tell me that I'm free to not read them when they will be available, you're perfectly right, but now I have that bad feeling I will miss important things from the start if I don't read them....

Also, the first book is coming during august ? really ? I'm not sure the date is correct, especially if we don't hear more news until N7 day. I mean, obviously they will communicate a lot about this, right ? Do we even have tweets from BW about those upcoming books, I can't remember ... ?

It's not direct from Bioware, but I think it's from the publisher.

And personally, I welcome having a book before release.  None of the promo-material should be spoiling anything that's not covered in pre-release prose anyway and my appetite needs whetting, damn it!

yes, it's what I read too, just informations from the publisher itself. It's odd to not hear anything from the devs, don't you think ?

Well, I've heard the first book will be about how we get to Andromeda so I'm sure we will have some spoilers inside... that's what make me worried. I think I will just have to wait for a review before deciding to buy it or not (well, I will buy it anyways, the good question is more when I will decide to read it).

Well, speaking as someone who has devoured the meta-material between each game, I can't say I've ever read a book or comic or blurb that made me squirm and regret my rabid fandom.  You're likely to get far more character-background and fewer game-spoilers from the first book than you are from following all the press releases leading up to Andromeda's launch.

I mean, I understand if even the slightest explanation of how Ryder came onboard the Ark Ship is ruinous for you, but if you can overcome that perception, you'll likely get a better story in 250 written pages than you will in seven lines of in-game character dialogue; and that which Ryder reiterates from the books will just feel all that more redemptive due to the fact that you know the deeper story.

I'm going to read the book for sure. I'm afraid this forum will be divided in two groups after the book release: those who read it and those who don't. This time it might make a pretty big difference in understanding the premise of the game.

I ever ordered the Cyberpunk 2020 'book' to prepare for Cyberpunk 2077.

Can I preorder your book review, or is that "being part of the problem"?

If there's essential information in the books, it's only good when the community makes good summaries. You can't expect all your gaming fans to spend 20 dollars on a book as well.

It might be time for the Wikia to come back to life again.

User

will we hear anymore news about andromeda before N7 day?

Mac Walters @macwalterslives

Not really. I'd rather we focus on making MEA great... before we get talking about how great it will one day be.

I question BioWare's decision to show up at E3 at all especially with this sentiment from Mac Walters. I would hope then N7 day we get actual game play footage, instead vague, over the shoulder, blurry images that makes us speculate like previous N7 day's.

It's not really theirs to decide? It's maybe rather a very unpleasant way to demonstrate there is a deadline to fulfill by the parent company.

Its not a book.

Its 4 ****ing novels......

Its 2016; make an interactive short film BioWare. It would probably cost the same amount of money.

In my opinion, there are way too little Mass Effect books. The expanded universe should be much bigger and diverse.

Hm.

I say the book may sour your taste for the game if the author writes a story you dislike. She can be controversial in her views, especially with social issues.

Now, the assumption is that the book reveals something about the Ryders, the ARKCON project, its background and its development troubles (ie: getting approval and funding). More important, is how the crews are chosen, the leadership, missions goals, multirace assignments, military preparedness and situational awareness of galactic events outside the confines of the project.  Maybe the timing of the Departure.

In essence, the book may leave you neutral, love to play the game or not looking forward to it at all.

If the book is horrible we'll have a really nice time here flaming and blaming it, we always win

http://www.eurogamer...e-of-me3-ending

Thanks ~

It's crystal clear there's no canon ending and that our choice will not affect MEA, which is a very good point to me.

But I'm sure we will still continue to see a great amount of threads asking what ending is canon and if our choice will be important on MEA...
